Bought the car new in Sept 2020, wheels and tires came off in December and have not been back on. Some curb rash on RF but otherwise clean. I only pulled the fronts off the rack so you can see the rash on one of the rims. Moving and priced to sell: $1800. Portland, Oregon
Here you go. These are the 2 fronts. As you can see, the RF has two curb scrapes. The LF is clean. The rears are clean, I just didnt want to lift them down. You are welcome to come take a look, I'm in West Linn.
These have 1200 miles on them, and include factory TPMS and bolts. I bought the car new in September 2020, and put Martian rims and all seasons on that December. I dont drive this car enough to keep swapping, so these never went back on. Some curb rash on front passenger wheel, but otherwise...
Searched but couldn't find this problem on the forum. When tuned to certain radio stations, the artist/song display will appear and disappear repeatedly.
2021 MYP. Any suggestions?
I had a 2011 BMW M3 that I used as a second car and loved. I sold it when I got the MYP. In daily driving conditions, I can easily drive the MYP faster due to the better visibility in traffic (height) and the instant torque. You will crack yourself up when you realize what you can do.
I had a similar experience. I dropped the tire pressure in my stock MYP PZeros/Uberturbine 21s down to 37-38 looking for a softer ride last summer and I thought it felt fine. I spent the winter/spring on Vredesteins/Martian 20s at 42 and loved them. When I switched back to the summer...
I went down this road too. MYP showed significant damage after 1500 miles of late summer/autumn driving on decent roads - no sand, gravel, snow or ice. My SC which has always been very responsive with my wife's MS was understanding and concerned but said the only thing they could do was submit...
This. When I drive my wife's Model S I feel like I'm in a luxury sedan that accelerates very fast. Driving my MYP feels like I'm in a very fast sports car that's a bit high and a bit heavy and alot of fun.
I found out the hard way - went on a long bike ride, leaving the phone in the car and using the keycard to lock it. (Same thing I do when swimming or running.) Out of habit, I walked up and pulled on the door handle - it opened. So, my car had been unlocked for several hours even though I...
You seem like the right person to ask:
Is there a way that the Tesla/iphone can automatically turn off Bluetooth when you want to leave your phone in the car and carry only the keycard?
Thanks!
If you think you'll ever need it - ask for the brake controller pigtail that SHOULD come with the tow package. Currently, it's a Model X only part but is necessary to hook up a brake controller to your Model Y's trailer wiring. It's a hassle to get one through the app because they "can't order...
I too have a very good SC with great service on our Model S for several years. Today, I had a very knowledgable advisor but at this point - 6months into ownership - all he could offer was admitting that it was a design flaw (!) and escalating my issue to Tesla engineering. He has done this for...
You might want to read through the numerous threads. Some SCs have acknowledged this flaw and paid for repair, some haven't. I've got an appt today and I'll post the outcome. The slightly wider wheels/tires on the Model Y Performance exacerbate the problem, but it seems all Model Ys are...
Like many of you, I sustained damage on my rear rocker panels before I got smart and added PPF and mud flaps. I just received the dreaded "Tesla does not cover damage from external sources" cop out from my SC. And of course, they are trying to cancel my service appt. Has anyone's SC...
Now that Tesla has finally released their Model Y mud flaps, I take that as tacit admission of the flaws we have been experiencing. I just made an appt with the SC for Friday Feb 5 at 11:30 to discuss this issue. You are welcome to join me if you can. The more examples he sees - the easier...
Nice job! Mine looks similar. I just slapped the PPF from BreathEasier on as soon as it arrived with no paint correction. It's working fine but I'll be removing it and trying what you did this Spring. How long did that paint repair take you?
Same here. I was waiting for something a bit better looking, but now I love my EV mudflaps - I can drive in any conditions and feel confident I'm not tearing up the back half of the car. I've got PPF down there but with 21s or 20s I was still getting damage to the plastic trim and a small area...
Hi ecarfan,
Thanks for your input on towing. I'm waiting on delivery of an Alto 2114 - currently a 12-18 month wait list. I've seen examples of the Y towing the 17 series but not the 2114 yet. With your experience, how would you estimate the Y Performance would do?
I was installing mudflaps on my MYP (so happy to finally have them! The EV flaps don't looks so bad on a black Y) and enjoying the music from the external speaker. But the only way I found to keep it playing was to leave a door open. Any ideas to keep it on when working in the garage?
Check out my post above regarding the different soaps/detergents used in touchless vs light touch drive throughs. I've run mine through 6 or 7 times with no discoloration. You do have to live with the swirl factor though...
Recently added a MYP to the garage next to my wife's MS. We share a charger. Both cars are programmed to stay unlocked at home. When I press the charger button, the ports open on both cars. Not a big deal, but wondering if it can be avoided.
I just installed Freewheeler's PPF kit. It was easy and fit perfectly. The whole process took less than 30 minutes and I was going slow as this was my first time applying PPF. I forgot that when I had the full front done, the shop added door edge strips so my fitment was a bit tricky. But...
Yeah, she thinks "maybe a slow speed pothole in a parking lot". I've been reading the new class action lawsuit in CA and it sounds like alot of MS (2013-2018) owners are having damage at very low speeds. This lawsuit pertains to suspension control arm and components. Of course, in my...
Is the recently filed class action in CA courts related to this issue?
Tesla accused of ignoring and covering up suspension defects in class action lawsuit - Roadshow
My wife's 2017 MS is at the SC waiting parts for a different, but maybe related issue, that dogbone shaped piece was crumpled...
I'll add my experience so far:
I live in the PNW which is more wet than cold, but we do get snow and some freezing rain each winter. And the roads to the ski areas are usually very well maintained. So, I opted to swap my 21s/pzeros to a winter "all season" tire: Martian 20" wheels, Quatrac...
With regen on max I usually dont touch the brake pedal if I'm the second vehicle in line approaching a stop sign. Do the brake lights illuminate at such low speeds? Or do you need a fairly rapid decel? And is there any way to know when the lights are coming on in regular driving?
My wife doesn't "remember hitting anything", but her 2017 MS started showing several alerts and the SC checked it out and sent me this:
In the middle of the photo is the upper link, that is kind of “dog bone” shaped. It should be straight, but the impact to the wheel buckled it in the middle...
I made an appt with the SC two weeks ago and sent them a photo that looked just like yours. Here was the response:
We received your message about the blocked B-pillar camera alerts. These alerts will come and go due to a variety of environmental conditions such as inner condensation...
That's a bummer. I doubt mobile service will solve the issue - most likely you got a defective sensor and the tire will have to come off.
I just swapped into new wheels/tires/TPMS and everything configured automatically.
I've never put front plates on my sports cars and I'm glad Tesla doesn't. I've lived in Texas, LA and now Portland, OR. I've never received a warning - even while the officer was handing me a speeding ticket - and that's happened alot...
But a parking cop will write you up. I just keep the...
For what it's worth - I asked the founder of the large regional "light touch" car wash in the PNW about the possible discoloration and here's his response:
Thank you for your email. For the last 30 years our mission has been to develop safe Cleaning products for your car, our employees and the...
I have a MY Performance and the TPMS on the 21s were dead on. I just swapped to my winter setup - Martian Wheels/Vredestien tires and a new set of Tesla TPMS. Also dead on. I'm using a very accurate digital gauge. And the MY read the new TPMS as soon as I drove out of the tire shop.
