Supercharger - Blaine, WA - Boblett St

Our rate in Birch Bay is $0.09/kWh at home. Glad to see these coming to Blaine. I guess the rate will be close to the same as the other Supercharger at the Birch Bay turnoff on i5, which is $0.35/kWh. We have a much lower rate just across the border in South Surrey (1) $0.17/kWh CA$ and (2)...

Supercharger - South Surrey, BC - 160 Street

There is no commitment from Tesla that Magic Dock is coming to Canada anytime soon. They are only deploying in USA because they have a financial benefit to do so. Not to mention only about 10% of locations will have magic dock by end of 2024. Glad to see another location is South Surrey, the...

Paying Tesla bill in two countries (USA & Canada)

did you every get this resolved. I'm trying to change my country in the mobile app under settings/charging. It allows me to change to any Canadian address but the Country is grayed out (CA). My online account has my usa address. It shouldn't be hard

"New" Sources of Tesla 'OEM,' Tesla-like, and/or Third-Party CCS1 Adapters

I've tested the Tesla Authentic CCS Adapter, Hannshow CCS Adapter, and the A2Z CCS adapter. Tesla and Hansshow look and feel identical. The A2Z has a smaller footprint. For the average user charging with any of these adapters can expect similar results. I prefer the A2Z for its size and solid...

"New" Sources of Tesla 'OEM,' Tesla-like, and/or Third-Party CCS1 Adapters

I finally got to testing the A2Z ThunderStorm CCS Combo 1 Adapter. I peaked out at 206kW at the charger (203kW on the Tesla touchscreen). Very impressive. Anything over 40% should be as fast as a v3 Supercharger, as you only peak out at 250kW for a minute or so. I now can charge at almost any...

Very nice. Hoping to test one of the new Electrify America locations (Signet) when they come to the west coast. Here's what I got from a local EVGO in Bellingham.

Sorry, I should be more specific, Tesla Model S, Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model X, and Tesla Model Y (S, 3, X, Y). I know the old Tesla Roadster can charge using a special J1772 adapter called "The CAN" developed by Henry Sharp a member of the TMC. Don't think there is an adapter to charge at a...

I can assure you that I always provide accurate testing. This video unboxes the adapter, so there is not much other than my first impressions. I will be testing at an EVGO I've tested at before on the weekend. Since these adapters are passive devices, things like the state of charge...

Not to mention, some of the Electrify America chargers I've used, the latch is broken so it wouldn't lock it anyways. At least the CCS adapter is locked to the car. Another point to consider is if someone was to try to unplug and was unsuccessful, it most likely stopped the charge and it won't...

"New" Sources of Tesla 'OEM,' Tesla-like, and/or Third-Party CCS1 Adapters

I was a bit surprised I could unplug the CCS cable from the adapter while charging and my car was locked. At least the adapter is still locked to the car if you leave your car unattended and locked. Don't do this as you will get a notification on your monitor.

From what I've seen, it's more like the Ukraine CCS that was for sale previously. It doesn't have the pin, but Amine has mentioned in previous posts that they will be shipping a locking ring soon. Not sure mine will come with it. For me, it's not really required as I normally stay with my car...

I did a comparison of the Tesla CCS Adapter vs Hansshow CCS adapter at a local BC Hydro 50kW charger. Both performed equally. I've done other tests at Electrify America, and EVGO and both were about the same. I'm glad Tesla has finally released their adapter in North America. I'm sure Tesla will...

Not that the adapter is limited to 250kW, The M3 RWD & SR+ are limited to 170kW and LR & Performance are limited to 250kW for now. The best I've gotten so far is 201kW at EVGO and 189kW at Electrify America.

Not a problem. There is some misinformation on the Hansshow site. They offer a package deal that includes a L2 charger but it appears from the images you can plug the J1772 adapter into the CCS adapter. Reference Link

I can confirm that I've done some testing with the Hansshow CCS Tesla adapter and had no problems at EVGO, Electrify America & Petro Canada. I did take the temperature of the adapter when testing at Electrify America. The Tesla portion got up to 130F which is somewhat hot but below the cutoff...

I would think that it would work with a Supercharger if it works for the destination chargers. Tesla would have to open up Superchargers to non-Teslas, which they have said will happen soon.

"New" Sources of Tesla 'OEM,' Tesla-like, and/or Third-Party CCS1 Adapters

I disagree somewhat. Yes, EVGO only authorizes using manufactured adapter, etc. They are covering themselves from any damages that may arise to the charger or your car. I used to work for a computer company that only allowed the use of (our company) supplied mouse. If the end user contacted...

Even when Tesla starts to sell in North America, it's going to hard to get one. Just look at their shop right now. Many items are sold out. A good example is the mobile connector. Even when they offered it free with each car, they were sold out more than available. These 3rd party adapters are...

Thanks so much for the additional information. Looking forward to testing this adapter soon. The demand for a cheaper alternative to Supercharging is huge here in Canada. PetroCan only charges $0.27/minute for their 350kW chargers. :)

There is no way to limit the charge rate. It is determined by your car and the charger you are connected too. These CCS adapters are passive devices.

I have the authentic Tesla CCS adapter and have not had any issues charging. These devices are only an interface between your car and the CCS charger. The Tesla one has no software, and I assume these 3rd party ones are the same. I'm waiting on a 3rd party adapter to begin testing. Here's a link...

Pin is not required. When the button is pushed on the cable the charger will stop charging, so no current is flowing, eliminating the arcing possibility. The is pin on the authentic Tesla CCS adapter is only there to stop someone from unplugging the cable from the car. These 3rd party adapters...

"New" Sources of Tesla 'OEM,' Tesla-like, and/or Third-Party CCS1 Adapters

I'm not sure I understand. The pin on the authentic CCS adapter is not there to stop arcing, but to stop someone from unplugging the cable. These adapters are simply a way to convert a CCS cable to Tesla plug. There is not software or anything in the adapter. It's just an interface for DC to DC...
  32. DoubleDD

"New" Sources of Tesla 'OEM,' Tesla-like, and/or Third-Party CCS1 Adapters

The pin is only there to block the CCS cable from being removed from the adapter attached to your car. The J1772 adapter doesn't have a locking pin and the cable can be removed from the adapter when plugged in. This is why most purchase a locking ring for the J1772. It only prevents the cable...

    CCS Adapter - ?

    CCS Adapter - ?

Not sure but if you get above 120kW, you're getting 2 kW per minute. That's a really good deal. Here in Canada, everything is by the minute. I'd prefer to pay per kWh.

    CCS Adapter - ?

Another test of the CCS Adapter. This time it's at EVGo (350kW) in Seattle. The strange thing is they charge by the minute $0.29/minute whereas most of Washington State is billed by the kWh. Got 160+kW.
