Tips on renting a Tesla in Germany?

I recently rented a Model Y for a week at Munich Airport using Sixt. I did c. 1000km around Germany and Austria in that time (remembering to buy an Austrian toll sticker on the way to the border!). Find the whole process very straightforward - the superchargers just worked as normal. I haven't...

    Insurance troubles May 2023

Just to add my experience on this - last year my M3LR was insured with Direct Line at a premium of c.£875. Just had the renewal through and they've quoted £1,375, despite nothing changing at all. Clearly Direct Line aren't interested in retaining my business, so I've done the comparison sites...

Obvious suggestion but could you have a stone stuck in the tyre?

M3 roof rack paint protection stickers

Yes I've just done this as well. The advantage is that you can cut the PPF to a bigger size as I find the original stickers were too small and so I got a paint chip next to the roof.

2 EV Household - what else you got?

We're a two EV household with a 2021 Model 3 LR and a 2019 BMW i3. Model 3 mostly does the nursery runs and we use the i3 as a station car or local runabout.

    Boot strut recall

Well had my latest service appointment and the ranger basically did nothing save for reset the boot by holding the close button in until it beeped. Unfortunately I wasn't home when he came otherwise I'd have told him I'd already tried that... In any event the"fix" has only sorted it temporarily...

    Boot strut recall

Well after having it "fixed" by a ranger a couple of weeks ago, the boot has stopped working again so I've booked another ranger visit. This time the paperwork seems to indicate they're going to replace the strut itself, but will see...

    Boot strut recall

I was at work so my wife dealt with him - think they may have adjusted the latch but not really sure.

    Boot strut recall

Had the ranger fix my boot this morning - apparently it wasn't the powered strut but the latch not releasing correctly. Not totally convinced by that explanation but if they've not fixed it I'll just book in another appointment. 🤔 Also did some kind of recall work to fit insulation to the a/c...

    Boot strut recall

Yeah you can open it manually but it takes a few goes to unlatch, so think there might be a couple of different issues involved. Wonder if it might be temperature related to some extent as its much worse now it's colder.

    Boot strut recall

My powered boot has stopped working today as well - technician booked for 4 Feb. Mrs isn't happy as she can't fit the baby buggy in our other car.

Were you able to schedule the service via the app, or did you have to call them? If via the app, what section did you use - "other"? Thanks

    Packed Superchargers

I was at Rugby services S/C last night around 5pm and when I arrived there was only 1 S/C free, which surprised me. Were a couple of the Gridserve chargers free as well, but overall it was way busier than I expected. Still a really good setup though.

    Packed Superchargers

Yeah I was told it was 10% off by the lady at guest services, but it was actually free. Might not last though... although they shouldn't be short of cash given the amount my Mrs managed to spend in the shops while we were charging! 🤣

    Packed Superchargers

I drove from Yorkshire to Birmingham last Friday and stopped at the East Midlands Designer Outlet chargers near Mansfield on the M1 on the way. Was pretty surprised to find the chargers full with a couple of people also queuing as they're v3 chargers - first time I've had this. Suppose it's to...

UK 2021 Refresh RHD Model 3 Accessories [megathread]

Interesting that a number of the items in the store now refer to being for "Model 3/Y", whereas before they just mentioned the Model 3. Maybe the Model Y will be making its way over to the UK in the near future after all... o_O

M3P 2021 ride quality on UK roads?

I have the LR with the 19 inch alloys and have just done a week in Cornwall with it. Ride comfort was great and it was a very relaxing drive, even in awful constant stop-start traffic on the M5 and A30 which meant our 5hr drive home took nearer 8 hrs. Even the Mrs found it comfortable. I don't...

UK 2021 Model 3 Q2 collection and delivery experiences

That's odd - I picked mine up from NEC yesterday and they gave me 2 new keys to replace the warped ones before I left. Maybe they ran out given it looks like every car had the same problem.

Wiki UK 2021 Orders and Pending Deliveries

I've had this as well - did a quote a couple of weeks ago and got a reasonable quote of around £500 for a M3 LR. Repeated it yesterday with same insurer/details etc and the quote had doubled! 🤯 Fortunately the first quote was still valid and I got my numberplate details through from Tesla, so...

    NEC Pick up

I'm picking up from NEC on 25 June. The other option they gave me was Newcastle...o_O How easy is it to find Hall 16? I did a quick drive past yesterday to try and locate it but didn't see the collection area, but couldn't hang around to have a proper look. It's also not showing up for me on...

Selling current car to fund Tesla Purchase

I just used Motorway to sell my C63 Estate, which I'm replacing with a M3LR on 25 June. Whole experience has been very good. Got an estimate on Sunday for a reasonable figure, so took all the photos they requested and the car was in the Motorway auction on Wednesday. At the end of the auction...

Ordered an inventory M3 LR in white with the 19" wheels on Wednesday. Have already got a VIN (it's a 243) and a delivery date of 25 June at NEC in Birmingham. Quite impressed so far - was expecting to hear nothing for ages given other people's experiences but I've not had to chase for anything...

    Smart meter "not commissioned"

I'm in the same position - had smart gas and electric meters installed by Octopus last December but while the electric one eventually started working several months after being installed, the gas meter has never sent automatic readings. After almost a year of chasing and being fobbed off (and...
