People parking next to me while charging

My first ever supercharging experience, someone did this to me. Before this, I had no idea.

    The competition is coming

Day to day or ever? I think most EV drivers do not want a "road trip never" kind of vehicle. I could be wrong, but just my thoughts. I commute 95% of the time too and charge at home, but I like to take vacations where I drive many miles away from time to time.

    The competition is coming

There is zero competition now or ever, until they get their nationwide reliable fast charging network. Until then, there is only two choices 1) Tesla or 2)buy an EV for a commuter car only. Pat

    Road trip report

Nice write up. I agree 100% with auto high beams being trash and unsafe. Also, the maps aren't even remotely as good as other products available for some reason. That could be fixed with the flip of a switch if the narcisist in chief would allow it, but instituting Car Play.

Model Y Not Worth the Price Now [Nov 2022]

I also bought mine in 12/20 for around $55k. I think I will probably look at an actual luxury EV when I am ready to buy, but ONLY if there is an actual nationwide reliable fast charging network. That is the one thing that makes Tesla worth it by a mile.

Towing with Tesla Model Y LR

I appreciate your post. I am about to do a little trip with my 1000 lb Sea Doo trailer. I was told to expect about 450 Wh/mi with that. We shall see! Thanks, Pat

Is anyone interested in an Enhanced Autopilot Subscription?

I'd pay $100 to use it on a long road trip, but that's it.

    DIY tire rotation

I do this exact thing. No issues. If mobile service does it, I am sure it's fine.

2022 model y rear driver seat rattle

My passenger front seat rattled like that. Drove me insane. After 4 visits, they replaced the entire seat under warranty because they could never find the cause. No more rattle.

[Feature Request ] Bike rack mode

I also wish there was a bike rack more to turn off the sensors and to prevent the read door from opening remotely.

Any other owners second guess if their next car should be another Tesla?

I love my Model Y, but after the same vehicle I bought in December 2020 has gone up in price more than $10,000 for essentially the same thing, I will look at the competition for sure when I am ready for another vehicle. The price is quickly rising itself out of "reasonableness" in my opinion.

    Like your black Model Y?

I love my all black everything Model Y. It looks better than any other color by far, when clean. All the other colors, you see the contrast of the cheap plastic in the back and you don't on the black car. That right there is reason enough to get black. It looks terrible on white to me.

    Trailer hitch lock

I use a 90 degree lock from Curt. It fits well, despite having to lay down on the ground to get at it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T9N6DRI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    DIY tire rotation

Tesla mobile service uses one jack point. I have used it many times. It works great. Nonsense to say you need two jacks because you don't.

    Winter tires

I use 18" wheels with Blizzaks. Work great in terrible Wisconsin winter weather.

    MY Door Trim Discoloration

I live in Wisconsin. Best bet is proper snow tires. I use Blizzaks. If you can't do that, get some snow rated (not just all season) all weather tires like Vredestein or Michelins.

Don't blow your $ on accessories before delivery

I'm sorry you had trouble with the footlights. I did them all just like their video and had no problems. The door lights too. I am no mechanic either. Took me less than 30 min for all of them.

    Phantom Braking - Fixed.

I have 2022.8.3 and it is 95% better than it was before. The right lane dragging into the on ramp thing is very much improved. Drove 800 miles last weekend with it and it happened (slightly, not heavy like before) only 2-3 times.

    Window Trim Stained?

I actually plan to use this exact product as soon as I get a few rain free days off to do the prep and curing process. Good to know!
  22. P

    Model Y Mud Flap Saga

I also have these and have had a positive experience.
  23. P

    Window Trim Stained?

I use plain old WD-40. Works great. It's from the chemicals in the touchless automatic wash.

    Dashcam Unavailable Check USB

My Tesla stick was garbage from the beginning. I replaced it with this Samsung over a year ago.

Best clay bar kit for beginners?

A synthetic "clay" mitt is the way. Nanoskin makes one. That's what I use. Much easier than actual clay.

    Dashcam Unavailable Check USB

Mine has been perfect for over a year, and this just happened to me recently twice. Had to pull the drive and re-insert it. Wonder if some sort of update messed it up again.

Any Updates on Apple Music Integration?

Yes, they are as dumb and uninformed as the ones at other car dealerships.

    Unplug non-Tesla charger

I have used a non-tesla charger for the entire 18 months or so of ownership. My charger has a little clip that I press down and it releases the charger just like a tesla charger. Occasionally, but rarely, the car will not "wake up" and I need to unlock it first to remove the charger. 19 times...

MYLR goes right on highway entrance lanes on Autopilot

Mine used to do this a lot, but somehow it has gotten better as of late. Still does occasionally, but not nearly as bad.

    Tinted PPF lower door area

Hello, I have a black Model Y that now has mud flaps but didn't for several months during winter. Unfortunately, because of this I have some chips in the lower fender area. It isn't a big deal but drives me nuts when I see/feel the area when washing the car. My question is, has anyone done a...

Driving and riding style affect on Range. Planning to stop more often, drive and use “normally.” Thoughts?

I just drove from Milwaukee to St Louis and back this past weekend (about 370 miles each way). I found that watching the "energy" trip screen at various speeds gave me a lot of information in terms of how range changes at various speeds, climate on or off, etc. I found that speed was the biggest...

    Washing The Tesla Model Y

I use touchless car washes in the winter when it's too cold. They work fine, but it does discolor the trim giving it a rainbow effect. This is easily removed with WD-40. When it's cold but not freezing, I use ONR in my garage. When it's warm, I use a two bucket method on my driveway.

2022 MYP - Very Slow Acceleration

My LR is lots faster than that, even in cold conditions. Something is definitely wrong.

    Apple Watch

Nope, but I wish. I would buy one just for convenience in case I forgot my phone.
  35. P

    MY Door Trim Discoloration

If you wash it in a car wash with chemicals again, of course. Removing the chemicals is fixing the problem. Not sure what you mean?

    MY Door Trim Discoloration

Mine discolors and comes right off with WD40.

This is why I only use Homelink to open my garage automatically, not close it.

What's your next EV after Tesla?

My wife wants an Audi. I will prob stay with Tesla. I am also looking forward to seeing what Toyota and Honda come up with in the future, as I am an Acura fan.

MYLR goes right on highway entrance lanes on Autopilot

This used to happen to me all the time. It's been much less lately. As others have said, dotted lines help this tremendously but they aren't everywhere.

    Tesla Canceled my Order

This sounds super sketchy. Doubt it was an accident.

    Acceleration boost upgrade

It's totally worth it. It a huge difference in acceleration. You definitely feel it. I thought I'd try it and return it, but was hooked on my first drive.
  43. P

Keep it plugged in while I'm away?

I usually plug it in and set it to 50%. Then on the day I am coming back, I turn the charging back up to 80-90% so it's ready when I get home.

    Ceramic coating DIY (Avalon King)

I recently acquired a Griots G9 and some nice pads. I do plan to do a clay bar, decon and then a light polish and see how it looks after. I am going to polish my older MDX that is already dinged up a bit, before I try it on my Tesla;) Thanks!

Slipping in highway during winter - Regenerative driving problem

Known and inexcusable deficit that there is no proper snow mode allowing the turning down or off of regen braking. I hate that part about my tesla, and love everything else. It's actually maddening. I have AWD and snow tires and have been driving ICE cars for 30+ years in snow and ice. The regen...

I test drove Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL RWD (short review)

I predict that dealerships will one day simply become service centers. I hope we, as the market, force it on them. The whole sales pitch, mark ups for nonsense, etc. is a racket and nothing else.

I test drove Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL RWD (short review)

I'll never, ever buy a car from a dealer selling over MSRP. Nice review!

    Uncomfortable driver seat?

I am a big guy too, 6'3" tall and 235 lbs. It took me a bit to get the positioning right but now that I did I find the seats very comfortable. I also make sure I don't have anything in my left back pocket (like my wallet) or I start getting hip pain. I'd recommend experimenting with different...

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

I definitely don't notice it. I've been preferentially taking my MDX to work when it snows because I absolutely hate the regen braking when it's slippery. It's making an otherwise fantastic car experience, awful.

    Tires Goodyear summer

Those are supposedly all seasons, but I can confirm they perform horribly in snow and ice.
