Hit a rock on the road with my MYLR

Now that I'm thinking about it, I may have used washers. I likely did, since that would have made sense to me. Just crawled under and checked. Yup, washers are there. No reason not to do that. Sorry for my previous answer.

Hit a rock on the road with my MYLR

No, I had zero issues. My front plate from MPP fit perfectly.

Hit a rock on the road with my MYLR

Another vote for the skid plate from Mountain Pass. I put one on my 2021 MY a few years ago. I definitely believe it saved me some grief when I ran over a tire tread on the highway at 70 mph.

You can also connect to Recurrentauto.com and see how your car compares to other similar vehicles. Just another data point.

    Battery health test

I'm at 89% with 38,000 miles. A little low, but my 100% range estimate is 290 miles. My perspective is this isn't too bad in real-world use. February 2021 MY AWD. Mixed use: local and highway miles. No towing. I've charged to 100% a few times, but don't let the car stay there. Depart within an...

    Battery health test

Looking at my older post, I realized I did this over a year ago. My plan was to do the test once each year. I also have the Teslogic module installed and that provides battery wear data/percentage. It will be interesting to compare the two. I'll report back after I've completed the test. Could...

    Battery health test

I just went back and tried to remember what I did. I think I just left it and it eventually went to 100%. I'd suggest leaving it as is for a while and seeing what happens.

Why does my extension cord strategy fail?

Yes. I bought a couple adapters from EVSE as @MattM24 mentioned above. All worked great. Though I actually have never used these. It was more of an experiment/learning process for me. I ended up buying a regular 5-15 extension cord for use with normal house outlet, and will use the 14-50...

Did you mess with this at all? Did you just do the outside/tire area?

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Getting ready to head out the door and just seeing this now. I am not sure how much total I used. I think I had the thinner foam and I was applying on the outside of the wheel wells (the tire side). Not sure how much it helped. I would probably been better off just doing a couple layers of butyl...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

You may want to start over with these adjustments. Even if they are all the way out, they may not be balanced. Doesn't cost anything to screw them back in and do the envelope calibration test yourself to be certain.

Spare tyre under-trunk modification for Model Y?

I DID cut that part. It removed a couple of inches of foam to allow the wheel to set lower in the back. You can try it without cutting first and see what you prefer. I did not think about the noise increase, but may go back and put some butyl over that and perhaps a piece of 1/4" noise reducing...

I use one from TopFit that is very similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/PACEWALKER-Wireless-Charging-Cellphone-Accessories/dp/B08R9Z5TX6/ref=sr_1_10?crid=2182X6O5X2NMW&keywords=tesla+model+3+wireless+phone+mount&qid=1682216835&sprefix=tesla+model+3+wireless+phone+mount%2Caps%2C99&sr=8-10...

255/45R20 Tires on the 20" Inductions?

About 2k miles on my Quattrac Pros. Really like the slightly more cushioned feel. Speed is 1 mph over what is displayed. Not an issue. Glad I did this!

Spare tyre under-trunk modification for Model Y?

And a floor mat over the rear hatch area covers everything up nicely and makes it easier to load things since you don't have to work around the inevitable unevenness between the two panels.

Finally got my Modern Spare stored!!

I still need to fix this. I think I had a piece of 2x4 that seemed about perfect. I didn't measure it. I need to make a "T" out of two pieces of 2x4 and just set this under the back part of the wheel. I've been riding around with it not really braced up. The strap is doing a good job of keeping...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I think it all depends on the gaps between the glass and the frame. If they are small the improvement may not be noticeable. I have had zero issues with the band coming loose.
  19. JonB65

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I used the original clips. It was a minor pain. Not sure how much improvement I got for this amount of work, but it was interesting and, dare I say, fun. Here are a couple pictures to give you the idea. This was the very first time I ever messed with butyl or acoustic foam.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I haven't pulled the frunk out yet. When I first got my car I pulled the covers off of the exterior of the wheel wells and put butyl and sound foam in there. I can post pictures if people want to see. I'm going to tackle the frunk side in a few weeks.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

I added the RPM noise reduction and the wind noise reduction. Additional seals around the doors may have helped a bit. But they definitely aren't totally sealing the area because I can see dirt behind the seal at the bottom of the door. The rubber band around the glass probably has helped with...

Finally got my Modern Spare stored!!

Great job!! I'm guessing you don't need my pictures now. :-) You may have to cut a little more at the corners to get the straps installed. And a little bit of fur is nothing compared to the happiness dogs bring to us!

Finally got my Modern Spare stored!!

Since I'll be gone another several days, I'll try to describe with words. I pulled the larger piece that lays on top back towards the rear of the car to get access to the smaller portion of the Sorry, accidentally posted before I was finished. Then I put the tire in position and got an idea...

Finally got my Modern Spare stored!!

Sure thing. I'm out of town but will post some pictures later next week. Can you tell me more about what pictures you want to see so I can make certain to get the right thing captured? The bolts were already there. They are the ones that secure the sub-trunk bucket (I think. Can't remember...

MPP Comfort Coils NUMBERS ONLY THREAD

Still running the same settings. I am planning to go 14/14 front and 14/12 in the rear to try it out. Haven't messed with it since it is winter and cold. :) I am also not the best person to judge this stuff. I don't have any real experience with feeling the different settings.

    MountainPass Performance Comfort Coilovers

I found the same thing when I tried to adjust the lower portion of my front struts. I tapped it with a hole punch (gently). After it moved the first time it was fine, but still needs to be lubed somehow. Can we spray it with silicone?

New MY shipped with low battery coolant?

My Model Y from March 2021 looked pretty much like the picture from @TomB985 above. I didn't mess with it, but did request a check/top-off when I had my car at Tesla for an alignment. I have not pulled the panel to see what it looks like now. I also never got any error messages, so didn't worry...

Model Y DIY Xpel Ultimate PPF

I did not do that, but it is not a bad plan. Or, you could do the other parts first and see how confident you become. I think you can do it. Just make sure you have an assistant. That makes things much more easier for everything.

Model Y DIY Xpel Ultimate PPF

This is so very true! I did the hood first and have four hairs under there, one right in the middle. The light wasn't good when I did this. It is the first thing everyone sees when they look at my car. Going to redo the hood when it warms up.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

@esfandiar I struggled to find the "hidden" bolt for the subwoofer, but eventually got it. For me it was easier to unplug the sub and just get it out of the way when I was working. When it warms up I'm going to go back in and add some more butyl over the wheel wells. I only put down a single...

Finally got my Modern Spare stored!!

Thank you. Please share the pictures of your trunk, along with the model year. I have a friend who is interested that just got a 2023 MY. She's a new owner and I'm not if this will work on her car.

Finally got my Modern Spare stored!!

Not sure. I wasn't planning on doing that so didn't check into it. That said, there was nothing major abut the parts I cut. Just the two sub-trunk carpet/foam pieces. No idea what Tesla would charge for that.

    Time to DIY PPF!!

Thanks for posting this. I'm going to redo my hood when it warms up. I got four hairs during the initial installation and I am tired of looking at those every time I see my car.

Finally got my Modern Spare stored!!

I haven't actually measured range decrease, and given the many variables such as wind, elevation, etc., that would likely be difficult. I think about it more in terms of number of people in the car. How much range decrease is caused by a spouse or kids? The weight of a spare tire, extension...

Finally got my Modern Spare stored!!

I didn't check, but I don't think so. I was ok with cutting it since it won't be seen when the panels are in place.

Finally got my Modern Spare stored!!

I currently have those in the frunk, but I'm going to move them to the small sub trunk in the rear.
  45. JonB65

Finally got my Modern Spare stored!!

Sorry I didn't take more detailed pictures. I removed the two side pieces near the floor panels, then removed the sub trunk carpeting. That allowed me to cut out a semicircle in the smaller section closer to the rear seats. I cut the carpeting and foam just enough to let the tire fit. Then I cut...

Finally got my Modern Spare stored!!

After thinking about this for way too long, I started exploring how to do this today (inspired by other threads and YouTube videos). Before I knew it, I had completed the modification and storage of the Modern Spare. I am pretty happy I got this done.

Is it worth to replace aeroshield?

I did mine in the driveway with the car front on two jackpoint jack stands. Lying on my back with the panel on my chest then lift it into place and catch the screws. Not bad. Did the same in the rear.

Best All Weather Tires for Model Y 20" Induction Wheels

Still no snow here in Maryland yet. February usually brings some. I did drive to West Virginia and back last weekend. Return trip was heavy rain. My Quatrac Pros were absolutely solid gripping the road. Ride is comfortable and more quiet than OEM Goodyear's. If/when we get snow I will test and...

Model Y DIY Xpel Ultimate PPF

I think it took a friend and I about three hours to do the bumper. No cutouts and the PPF was two pieces. I saved this part until the end so had accumulated a small amount of experience. That was a really good idea. ;-)

2020 MY LR tire life, 20 inch wheels. How much tread life are you getting?

I have 2021 MY AWD 20" Induction wheels with AB. I just put on new tires at 24k miles since I didn't want the Goodyear OEM during winter. I probably could have easily made it to 30k miles.
