My billing is now accurate the the penny daily. They take the kW consumed to 3dp; my earlier calculations were to only 2dp.

Then my dumb Tesla charger will increase in value, unless people have figured out that using a 32A commando socket also solves the issue, as does the slower Granny.

Good advice and I agree with you. I use a Tesla, Zappi, SyncEV and 32A Commando for charging. I don't like any cloud services for anything at all.

I updated my VED a month ago, but I've just received a V11Z reminding me my tax runs out on 30 April 2024; checked online, and screen printed that it now runs out on 31 March 2025. I shall ignore the V11Z, but its £180 saved :)

I renewed both EVs in March so I can renew in March next year for maximum benefit. You could leave it to March next year, but why? as the Government could close the loophole. So as my starting post on this thread suggests, renew it now and before the end of the month using the V5 reference...

Now! so it ends on 1 March. If you leave it until April, you will pay the higher rate from April next year. It takes 2 days for the new renewal date to appear on the DVLA website.

I renewed in March, so I have to renew for 1 March 2025; if I renew in April, it will need to be renewed from 1 April from which tax on our Teslas will be payable. My VED was not due until Sep 24, but I renewed early at £0😀

Can I suggest that we all renew our Road Tax today, https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax If you do this, you can renew at £0 in March next year, just before the tax rises on 1 April 2025.

We have 2 EVs but never charge them on the same night; fortunately we never need to. I have been out with a therma imaging camera to check te temperature of all cables and all is well. Do like this mild weather, so far we’ve not used peak grid power this month. 😀

Just checked the voltage on our single phase with my Fluke; it’s 230.6V, so all good. The Zappi will cut the charge rate to the Tesla when the immersion comes on.

You’re cheating with 3-phase. I’m drawing 19.3 and the immersion hasn’t kicked in yet. I’m flying close to the wire!

Charing Powerwalls, using the immersion, charging my Model 3 and running the heat pumps to keep us warm, that’s peak usage. Now with no grid draw it’s 240.8 and last night drawing 13kW it was 236.7. I never go below 230V.

I'm pulling 95A on single phase at night and the voltage never drops below 230V when it is normally around 243V.

I switched my FIT payments to Octopus, it was painless and they pay in 2-3 days rather than 2-3 weeks with Scottish Power or 2-3 months with Southern Electric!

Being able to claim FIT at 25p/kWh on our first set of 4kW panels means FIT payments are more profitable to me as the only time we export FOC is during the summer, and even then, we don't give much away free. But 15p is a really good rate for non-FIT users.

it is a missing Smart meter reading, they got 47 and not 48 readings; they had to request the missing reading off some central database, and then they can bill the day. Our bills come out the day after the monthly billing period.

Any when they miss a billing day, they do catch up. I had 3 odd days they didn't bill me for 6 months, but they billed in the end.

The 3.5kW or 5kW draw is set by the installer in the Gateway setup. I will increase our reserve to 100% when we get free power.

Do you mean the switch in the Gateway or one or both of the Powerwalls. Also, where do you see that graphic, is it on the IP address of the Gateway?

How do you get the PWs to do the charge rate modulation, I don't see a setting in my Tesla App? I use the Zappi the limit the draw to 95A.

Add 2 Powerwalls that can charge at 5kW each, a 3kW immersion, plus 7.5 and 5kW aircon units that can consume 1/3 of that plus the dishwasher and 1kW static draw. We have to be careful when charging the car at 7kW.

We have a 100A fuse, but when the air-con is running in the coldest of winters and the immersion is heating the water, I would blow our 100A fuse if I was charging at 7kW, so I now have an extra Zappi which will limit the load taken by our property to only 95A.

We used 1.9MWh in January, which was our highest monthly reading over winter. Our heating is purely by air-air-souced heat pumps with no radiators; we are all electric. The powerwalls helped by shifting costs from peak to off-peak rates. 3.5MWh is a lot though.

Won’t that force charging when the PWs are below the reserve during the peak period?
