You can have your cake and eat it too. The range drop in the M3P is related to the massive wheels. In fact, there are "stealth" performance variants that come with 19" and smaller wheels that get the extended range WITH the added power and speed.

The Tesla traction control and stability management is out of this world. Even on bald summer performance tires I was able to power up a very steep snow covered hill with no effort. Stopping, on the other hand, proved to be the challenge. With winter tires, it will be a tank. I have an M3P btw.
