    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

I talked with installation guy Thursday evening and he was there installing Starlink to make the uplink more reliable. He said the cell coverage hadn't been reliable enough. I couldn't charge during his work. I went back on Friday and was able to charge OK, but they still seemed to be working on...

    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

So close but not yet active. The PG&E transformer has been installed, and the button on the charger plug does open the car's charge port door. But after inserting the plug the change port just shows a red (not green) ring. Since Hwy 120 through Groveland will now be closed for a few months due...

    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Status is the same today. Street excavation completed, pad for transformer set, but no transformer yet.

    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

PG&E has not yet started their work. More significantly there are now two signs that say there's non-EV general parking in all 10 spots, even though 6 of the spots have red signs posted saying those spots are reserved for Tesla charging. Four other spots towards the back have red signs saying...

    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

I was there again yesterday and still no sign of PG&E installing their transformer. So no Mariposa supercharger for the Thanksgiving holiday traffic.

    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

I spoke with a construction guy there about a week ago and he said that PG&E still needs to install their transformer. It'll go to the left of those three large equipment boxes. Once they start he said it takes them about 3 days of work but he had no idea when PG&E would start that work. FYI...

    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

I went there again today to take a closer look and noticed that they have a mixture of parking restriction signs. Every other one says Tesla Vehicle Charging Only and the alternate stalls say Tesla 60 minute General Parking. I'm guessing that will lead to lots of confusion. Already there was an...

Still says Coming Soon, but obviously we're almost there!

    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

FWIW Merced is now open, we charged there yesterday. Reasonably clean bathrooms in the Smart and Final, but you need a code from the store personnel to use them.

The day that I gave the founder of Tesla a ride in my Lotus Elise in return for a ride in his T-Zero

Steve, thanks for giving me a ride in your EV1 and commenting on how it was powered by your rooftop solar. That made a lasting impression and later motivated me to get a Model S and rooftop solar too. Your thoughts also gave me the idea for my license plate SUN 2 DRV. So thanks, you've made a...

    Unacceptable Powerwall fiasco

So your choice is to have waited 3 years for nothing, or wait 3.5 years for something. If the outcome is worth having I'd think the better ROI would be to wait the extra 6 months to get that outcome.... yes patience is a virtue but no one ever said it was easy nor fun. ;-)

    Supercharger - Santa Rosa, CA (LIVE 20 Nov 2019, 20 V3 stalls)

Yes, it seems to always say Reduced Services, zero stalls available, so it's a bit unnerving to count on it. But I've recently been able to charge here fine. Many stalls are taped off, but the open ones seem to work fine.

Caution: Driving while firmware is updating

Assuming that anyone will ever read (and heed) a warning message is virtually the worst solution. A much better solution is for software devs to make their software behave better when the user takes it off the "happy path".

    Tesla moments

Curious... Do you intentionally avoid using it for some reason or just never had a need since there's already so much storage space in and under the rear trunk area?

Simple speed when it's clear ahead is NOT the same as weaving in and out of traffic.

    Dog Mode Improvement Needed

Please share why you're so opposed to this idea? I have a dog and I use dog mode for short duration chores on medium temp days. Never on scorching hot days. Please educate me/us on your concerns. And starting a comment with "I will never understand" is never a great leadin because it basically...

    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

That's disappointing. Were there any strings attached to those site offers that would make it problematic for Tesla to move forward with construction? I'm surprised that Tesla even keeps it on their 2019 supercharger map if they don't have any near term plans to take action on this.

    Tire chain recommendation?

Rooter, do you have a reference or link to Tesla's approval of these Z chains? I'm seriously considering buying either these or ISSEs Advanced Snow Socks. The Z chains seem easier to put on and are also about half the price...

    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

If it had been a normal California day I'd have probably trusted the 4% and gone to Gustine. But it was still cold and very rainy even at the lower elevations. The Fresno prediction had dropped from 11% to 7% even with my conservative driving. And I had rolled the dice earlier in the day just...

    Supercharger - Mariposa, CA (LIVE 12 May 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Yes, this potential supercharger would have been immensely helpful yesterday. I normally enter and leave Yosemite via Hwy 120 and use the Groveland supercharger, charging to the max since charging in Yosemite is scarce. Yesterday our cabin lost power and a surprise snow storm hit (yes over...

Unexpectedly purchasing an M3 for delivery on Tuesday

While many people can get by with a 14-50 outlet, I highly recommend getting a Wall Connector if at all possible. And Tesla agrees "We recommend installing a Wall Connector at home and leaving the Tesla Mobile Connector in the trunk of the car as a backup option while traveling." For only $500...

EV Car/My Tesla - An Alexa skill for Amazon Echo / Tesla integration

Two questions: * Since you chose the generic name "EV car" instead of something Tesla related, does this mean this skill is intended to work with other EVs too? * Is this written as an Amazon Lambda function running on AWS or does this run on your own server some where else?

Supercharger - Truckee, CA - Donner Pass Rd. (LIVE Aug 2014, 11 V2 stalls)

The location shown on the Superchargers interactive site for the upcoming Truckee supercharger is wrong. How do we request it be updated? Currently it shows the location out in the boonies whereas the building permit has a site address of 11290 DONNER PASS RD TRUCKEE CA 96161-4808. This makes...
