    Heater failures in Model Y

I’ve had the sensors replaced, and the heat is again going out. My coworker is having the same issue.

Am I The Only One - Love My Car - Hates Tesla?

I’m sorry, a poorly built vehicle and poor customer service now falls under personal responsibility? I agree with him. I’m not a first time Tesla owner, but this is definitely my last. The sheer number of software issues, hardware problems, and just poor customer service is absolutely...

I see so many model Y owners having issues. Would you buy again?

Nope, I would have stuck with my Model 3 until a proper competitor to Tesla emerged (fingers crossed for Lucid). One of the largest companies (by market cap) in the world acting like it’s a startup, and the vehicle quality reflects that.

Loud Regen Braking Noise (Cold Battery)

Tesla says this is “within spec”. I wish I could do that at work - half-ass my way through a project and just tell my boss it’s within spec.

Loud Regen Braking Noise (Cold Battery)

Finally had enough of Tesla’s “quality control” - met up with my lawyer friend to start the paperwork for a buyback. The sad part is, I loved my first 2 Teslas, so obviously they’re able to build a vehicle that doesn’t sound like a dentist’s drill. Part of the benefit of giving up gas is...

Have to "reset" Sentry/Dash Cam USB every morning

Tried rebooting, tried multiple USB drives, tried other ports.

Loud Regen Braking Noise (Cold Battery)

I drove a Model 3 until 2 weeks ago, so unless the update happened extremely recently, this is not normal. I test drove 4 Model Ys, and only 1 exhibited the noise (plus mine). This sounds like another exhibit of Tesla’s “quality control”.

Model Y passenger doors needs to be slammed

Not normal, just poor assembly. Mine shut perfectly, while my co-workers passenger door needs to be slammed. Really getting fed up with all the random quality issues. I was okay with it on my Model S as Tesla was a “startup” back then...tolerated them on my Model 3, but it’s ridiculous how...

Loud Regen Braking Noise (Cold Battery)

I drove a Model 3 for 2 years - this is definitely a different noise. Very high pitched, very annoying.

My first unpleasant experience with my MY

All of them? I don’t think I’ve owned a frameless door car that didn’t drop the windows.

Loud Regen Braking Noise (Cold Battery)

Mobile service couldn’t do an assessment as they’re apparently not allowed to test drive due to COVID. Re-booked with service center. This is definitely an electrical whine.

Loud Regen Braking Noise (Cold Battery)

Having the same issue....mobile service said they’ve never heard of this, and suggested I open another request with the service center. Sound also increases when navigating to a supercharger. My Model 3 was dead silent in comparison.

    Transfer Homelink

Why? Removing and installing the bumper literally took 15 minutes - pretty hard to mess up.

    PPF Cost?

Some of these quotes are ridiculous. I paid $1100 (Canadian dollars) for the entire bumper, hood, fenders, headlights, rear door edges, and the bottom edge of the trunk. Call some dealerships, ask who does their installs, and call the installer directly.

    Transfer Homelink

I did it...removed the homelink module, and also kept all the charging cables. They don’t even look at trade-ins. Installed in the new car (5 minute job), politely asked the ranger to activate the software, and all good now.

    Tesla OEM Winter Mats

Strange - mine fit perfectly. Try exchanging it if you can’t get it to fit.

    Glovebox SSD Error messages

Yep, also tried formatting it with the car. Looks like the car wants me to use the included USB drive for some reason.

2021 Model Y Sideview Mirrors Limited Adjustability

Awesome - cutting the tabs off fixed the issue.

    Winter mats for new MY

Looks like the latest MYs had some changes to the seat mount shape. I usually get Weathertechs for my cars, but they haven’t made the change yet. Anyone have any suggestions for brands that will fit cars with this change?

    Glovebox SSD Error messages

Just took delivery of my MY. Transferred the SSD from my M3 and plugged into the glovebox USB, and I get the following warning message: “Dashcam usb drive not plugged into glovebox. Sentry mode will consume additional power”. Any ideas what this means? Seems to be working fine, but the error...

    VIN Confirmed! (84xxx)

Nope. VINs aren't sequential, and since no Model Y has gotten an updated battery or console, it's highly unlikely that an 84xxx would.
  23. T

Placed model Y order and immediately got a VIN?

No. Like I said, my 76xxx was built on November 26th, yet people had picked up their 83xxx vehicles the week before.
  24. T

Placed model Y order and immediately got a VIN?

I can’t tell if you’re disagreeing with me, and if so, why? 8xxxx VINs were being delivered last week, yet my car with 76xxx was only built late last week. Thus, VINs aren’t sequential - they could be building 84xxx today, and build more 7xxx tomorrow.

Placed model Y order and immediately got a VIN?

Nope - my 76xxx was produced November 26th.

Tesla requires 60A Disconnect switch w/charger?

Yeah...call a different electrician. No need for a "Tesla Authorized" one...it's wiring, not rocket science (as much as they'd like you to believe it is). And don't fall for their "protect your family" line...there are multiple failsafes built into the vehicle and the charger itself. I laughed...
