Any Tesla owners in the Sea Ranch, Gualala area that can spare a few amps?

The Sea Ranch lodge has shut down pending a new owner. The Tesla chargers are currently powered off, and the only thing open at the lodge is the post office.

Supercharger - Petaluma, CA (EXPANDED Jun 2018, now 20 V2 stalls)

The Petaluma expansion is now underway. There are two areas partitioned off so it is possible they will be adding twenty more stalls. As for now, one of the areas is directly adjacent to the ten existing stalls, and as consequence only eight of those stalls can be accessed right now.

Supercharger - Petaluma, CA (EXPANDED Jun 2018, now 20 V2 stalls)

Tesla has a small sign indicating a twenty stall expansion opening this year. It's unclear if this means a total of twenty or thirty stalls when complete. An expansion is definitely needed -- Petaluma is now a very busy location.

Supercharger - Petaluma, CA (EXPANDED Jun 2018, now 20 V2 stalls)

Petaluma has recently been getting very busy. I was just there today and the car showed 1 of 12 available. But, I can only find the original 10 stalls. Where are the two new ones located?

Supercharger - Mammoth Lakes, CA (8 V2 stalls)

Mammoth to Manteca is no problem. I've done Mammoth to Petaluma without a problem in my 50000 mile old S85 (via Yosemite).

Supercharger - Mammoth Lakes, CA (8 V2 stalls)

I've done Lone Pine to Vegas via Pahrump in my 40K mile old S85 on a 98% charge. It was very tight, but there was a strong headwind through Death Valley. The climb over the mountains before entering Las Vegas reduced my remaining range to 5 miles, but once over that there's a good drop down to...

    Supercharging letter from Tesla 8-13-2015

I received the letter, and have a driving pattern that's not very common. Most of my charging has been at superchargers, and most of that has been across the country, so I am using it as intended. However, for the past six months or so my pattern has changed. My car was purchased in...

Superchargers in Northern California (location speculation)

Good news. The transformer has already been installed! (Sorry -- forgot to take a picture -- but it's certainly for the supercharger since it wasn't there last week. It's above ground, adjacent to the sidewalk).

Superchargers in Northern California (location speculation)

More activity today. They now have 10 stalls, all wired up. The backhoe is digging a pretty big hole -- a transformer vault?

Superchargers in Northern California (location speculation)

Progress in Petaluma today. It appears they are trenching towards a big green box, which could be the transformer. Still much work to be done...

    Dual Chargers in NE?

I drive a single charger S85 and which I had the dual charger. That being said, it's rare that you'll actually get the full 20kW. Of the three dozen or so public New England and Canada J1772 chargers I had the chance to use last summer, only one had the ability to deliver a continuous 80A at...

Superchargers in Northern California (location speculation)

New photo showing little progress. Still no transformer or pavement, but now there are 9 spots, which explains the fifth cabinet. The whole worksite is terribly muddy, so it may be some time drying out before any further progress.

Superchargers in Northern California (location speculation)

Here's a photo from today. There was no activity at the site, but everything appears to be in place except for the utility transformer. I think that will be off to the right of the photo because there are a series of metal plates covering a trench that ends at Kenilworth Drive.

Supercharger - Truckee, CA - Donner Pass Rd. (LIVE Aug 2014, 11 V2 stalls)

I spoke briefly with the contractor at noon today. (He was concerned that the asphalt seal was still sticky and we'd get it on our carpets). I asked about usage since opening, and he said I was the fifth or six to stop by. He also said his next install was Denver.

Driving the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland in an S85

Wow -- great to hear Tesla is being proactive about looking for ways to open up eastern Canada. I assume you're familiar with their subsidized HPWC program for hotels... Destination Charging I'd suggest J1772 over Tesla, but not necessarily the 100A versions, at least not for...

Driving the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland in an S85

Thanks for the update! I'm glad to hear things are better, and the chargers are getting more use. A quick update... Most of my driving since leaving New Brunswick has been on superchargers, but I did have the chance to use Sun Country chargers in Fresno, California. (Yes, I'm on the other...

Driving the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland in an S85

Please don't get the impression this trip is something I regret taking. It has been great. While it's true the charging challenges have consumed much of my "recreational" time, I've never been at risk of getting stranded, and the car is so special I actually like working these problems. Not...

Driving the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland in an S85

Day 7: It's Canada day! What could possibly go wrong? The St. Christopher's EVSE worked great, and to give the car a bit of a break I only charged to 90%. Most of the day was spent on the ferry back to North Sydney, and I was only driving to Antigonish where I knew there was a working...

Driving the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland in an S85

Day 6: I started with a full battery and a plan to drive to Port aux Basque in two days. This seemed like a safe bet, with both days well within the car's range. My intent was to either secure an RV site in Deer Lake, or verify the Sun Country EVSE there worked. But, the Newfoundland EV...

Driving the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland in an S85

Day 5: The Sun Country highway let me down today. The charger at Hickman Motors in Clarenville was powered off, and while there was a mechanic there we were unable to contact anyone who was able to turn it on. This is the dealer I called to ensure it would be available. The fact they ever...

Driving the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland in an S85

OK, Cottonwood, you got me to check into St. Pierre. Unfortunately (or thankfully) there is no passenger + auto ferry. It's probably possible to arrange shipping your car there and taking the passenger ferry, but it sounds brittle, and I can just see the the natives standing around my car with...

Driving the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland in an S85

Day 3: Much less intense! Started with a 100% charge from Antigonish and drove about 180km without charging to North Sydney. I checked a few RV campgrounds along the way for 50A service, as listed on RV Parks and GS Camping apps, as well as sites identified simply by searching for "RV...

Driving the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland in an S85

Canada has no record of me ever entering the country, since the last time I did was in the 1960s. That's why they looked at me more closely than others. I started in Texas, drove to the Keys and then up the east coast. This trip has been interrupted multiple times with flights back to work...

Driving the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland in an S85

No, I've only got the single charger. Kinda wish I had the dual, but so far it hasn't made much of a difference. Tonight's hotel has a 60A, which means it only supplies 48A maximum (80% continuous rule). A single Tesla can take 40A, where a dual can take 80A, so the dual will only be 20%...

Driving the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland in an S85

I started a long, non-supercharger drive today, and so far have been told by Customs, and EVSE hosts in St. Stephen and Quispamsis that I'm their first customer. I'm both surprised and disturbed by this. Surprised because I believe the EVSEs have been here for a while (both Sun Country's), and...

Yeah, I can now say I've driven the Tesla across the country using the "yet to be installed" southern supercharger route! - - - Updated - - - I've been using RVParking as well as simply searching for RV Parks in Google maps. But even if you call and confirm it's still not certain you'll get...

Getting Beyond the "TX Supercharger Triangle" & connecting with the coasts...

I just completed a drive from Austin to Ocala, FL comfortably over the course of four days in an S85. I've updated plugshare.com with info on all the charging stations. Since Tesla doesn't seem to be in a hurry to connect Texas to the rest of the country, you might find this useful... Day 1...

Hi Adam: I also live in Austin, and recently made the trek to California and back in my S85. Gallup is the closest supercharger to the west, and a few of us have pioneered the route through Lubbock, Clovis, etc. You'll find we've posted useful information on places to charge at plugshare.com...

Charging at Campgrounds and RV Parks

I just completed a drive from Austin to California and back. Between Austin and Gallup there are no superchargers, and it's likely to stay that way for a while, so it was necessary to use RV campgrounds. It worked OK, but it's not something I would want to do on a regular basis. I had no...

Colorado to California and Back Again Using Superchargers and Destination Charging

I headed straight for Kingman Monday after a 90% charge thinking that would be OK. Well, the "Scourge of Texas" winds returned in the Mojave and I limped into Barstow on my last picojoules. Funny thing is the car is so quiet I didn't realize it was wind until I noticed the tumbleweeds. So, be...

Texas Supercharger Locations (location speculation, discussion)

I tried the supercharger this morning. The car's 85KWh battery was 90% empty, and the charge rate cycled back and forth between 70kW and 90kW every couple minutes. Once the battery was about 2/3rd full the charge rate dropped to just below 50kW. I didn't wait for a full charge. The car has...

Texas Supercharger Locations (location speculation, discussion)

Yep -- that's it. There are five chargers in the parking lot behind the outlet malls. The traffic today was insane -- it took 20 minutes just to get from I35 into the mall. Hopefully that isn't normal.
