Yes, but it's incorrect, taken directly from the 85 models (not sure why)

Tesla Model S/Model X Battery Data

It seems you used range numbers for the model S 90kWh cars that are identical to their 85kWh counterparts, they should be 6% higher (I believe Tesla now advertises them on the website)

Chassis CAN Logging To ASCII Text Plus Graphing

That's what I was referring to as well, but isn't it the inherent torque limit of the motors that is producing this plateau, and not necessarily the traction which would be the logical reason for Tesla to limit the torque.
  5. S

Chassis CAN Logging To ASCII Text Plus Graphing

How much more torque could those motors produce at higher RPMs? Sorry for the possibly dumb question, but I thought the motors had a physical limit on torque (as well as power), as displayed in the Tesla specs, isn't it what the flat torque curve at lower RPMs is about? Or are you referring to...

Any performance difference between 85D and P85D in standard sport mode?

Actually, the difference between the P85D and 85D at high speed is less significant than at lower speeds, as the higher peak torque of the P85D only manifests itself until 30mph or so, after that peak power will prevail, 469 (with a bit more weight) vs 422, higher power, but not much so. If you...

Stop the Press! Tesla announces REAL HP numbers for P85D and P90L

Out of curiosity, what would that RPM be? Anyway, you're implying that motor hp could be used as a proxy for torque. Let's assume that's true. Tesla already communicates the max torque, so what's the added value of that motor hp number? None (apart for maybe expected increased power when a...

    EU Market Situation and Outlook

Another reason might be that it is linked with the start of the D-models deliveries, as Swiss buyers are very keen on four-wheel-drive versions. I know a few people that were holding off buying a Tesla due to the RWD nature of the older versions.

Tesla blog post: AWD Motor Power and Torque Specifications

Whoever banned wk057, please undo this ridiculous move ASAP, there were no (public at least) out of line messages, he's actually been, together with sorka and others, extremely patient in deconstructing the recurring, uneducated and/or downright obfuscating (;-) ) attempts at defending Tesla's...

Tesla blog post: AWD Motor Power and Torque Specifications

No, you are. Many P85D owners do not understand why they paid so much more money for car hp (i.e. power that actually gets used to propel the car) which is not that much higher than the P85. Those are average customers equating hp with power at the wheels + some loss along the way, not some...

[updated with *] P85D 691HP should have an asterisk * next to it.. "Up to 691HP"

Interesting, base option only? Could that mean that Ludicrous mode would improve 0-60 acceleration by 0.6 seconds (i.e. 0.3 + 0.3) ??? By the way, I still don't understand why they wouldn't use the same methodology for all models, it would (cosmetically) improve the performance of all other...

    Delay in model X launch?

To be fair, they also added features OTA that had never been announced/promised, e.g. creep, hill assist, reverse lines, improved performance for 85D... Autopilot is the big exception, but is also unfortunately a feature that Tesla over-advertised and in a way which can be misleading, for...

Letter To Elon Musk Regarding P85D Horsepower – Discussion Thread

Here's what Tesla can do: provide an actual power number for the P85D/P90D/P90D, like they currently do the 70, 70D, 85 and 85D. Even better, provide the speed range at which this power is available (like they kinda did before by giving the RPM range for max torque and max power). In short...

Letter To Elon Musk Regarding P85D Horsepower – Discussion Thread

I signed the letter, don't own a P85D and that's the only thing I personally strongly wish would happen. By honest, I mean non-misleading (vs virtual 691 bhp) and realistic (vs promised P85D performance OTA upgrade which never materialized)...

[updated with *] P85D 691HP should have an asterisk * next to it.. "Up to 691HP"

No, max torque is produced at 0 RPM, max power comes later, around 30 mph probably. We don't know what the P85D curve looks like for sure, for the P85, Tesla communicated specifically the RPM interval at which max power occurs (which translated to speeds between 40 and 70 mph), they...

[updated with *] P85D 691HP should have an asterisk * next to it.. "Up to 691HP"

Sorry, you're right, I should have taken more time to elaborate on my answer. I agree that wheel torque is what you're going to feel. However, do you agree that power at the wheel will be the product of torque and RPM of the wheels? So at the same given speed, producing 500hp or 20% more will...

[updated with *] P85D 691HP should have an asterisk * next to it.. "Up to 691HP"

Actually, you can, HP is just a multiple of torque, with the multiplier being RPM of the wheels

Letter To Elon Musk Regarding P85D Horsepower – Discussion Thread

I just signed it via PM. Personally, I'm just hoping for some response/clarification/explanation from Tesla, anything really. I have no skin in the game since I don't have a P85D, I'm just curious as an owner who is a big admirer of Tesla, but can't understand the ever-growing list of...

[updated with *] P85D 691HP should have an asterisk * next to it.. "Up to 691HP"

Which is, in my opinion, the only item based on which a buyer could really have a claim against Tesla, coz' this was simply not accurate (and not open to technical interpretation) and written black on white in the Design Studio.

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

+1. Ideally of course they should just put the expected peak HP like they do for the other models. And in a perfect world, under which conditions (e.g. RPM or speed range) it is achievable, like they used to. But maybe it's pure marketing genius from Tesla, as every journalist emphasized that...

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

Well, that's exactly what I did at D reveal time and what cemented my fear that the 691 were just BS (and why I didn't order on the spot even though I was excited like a little boy at Xmas). And it's not like Tesla was displaying that quarter-mile time on their website (it was on the press...

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

Wait, you actually believe that the P85D produces more than that? I thought you were making the argument that it doesn't matter that the P85D did not produce the 691 bhp as this was "motor combined power", as long as it would actually do 0-60 in 3.2 secs which was the important thing. If you...
  31. S

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

And this power is actually produced (under some conditions) somewhere inside the car! Not the case for Tesla. The correct BMW analogy would be if BMW advertised the power that an engine *could* produce with a bigger turbocharger. Which they don't. Let's make things simpler: Tesla themselves...

    Does the $5k P85D upgrade get you a ludicrous P85D or a ludicrous P90D?

In that case, there are a lot of trolls, who also happen to have bought or considered a P85D... So the highest margin clients for Tesla, whose "whining" should be taken seriously... especially when it's based on facts and reasonable expectations. By the way, for the record, I think that the...

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

I didn't upgrade to a P85D, because I found the whole switch to motor power, and the fact that the quarter-mile was not as good as one would expect, very fishy. I raised that at the time on the forum, and was of course met by "Don't you trust Tesla?" blabla. I could have been tempted though, if...

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

The issue is that, even after more than a few minutes doing research on the issue, there was simply very little to no information on the matter in the first few months after the P85D announcement. And even now, the fact that the old-fuse P85D is only fractionally quicker than the P85 at highway...
  35. S

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

Tesla never lied about the 691 hp, they were however deceptive by having this "motor power" figure as the only power figure, and by not correcting the misconception that the media and general public has that the car can actually output this power at any point in time. Not cool. What they seem to...

Software restriction of the acceleration in 85D

You mean more power, i.e. kW, right? Does it mean that if you mash the pedal in a downhill, you don't get the 350 kW or whatever that you would normally get? (presuming you're in the max power band)
  37. S

[updated with *] P85D 691HP should have an asterisk * next to it.. "Up to 691HP"

The problem is dishonesty (and subsequently, misinformation via the media who of course put this 691 bhp number on headlines). And real-world performance is not only 0-60, it's acceleration across the whole spectrum of street driving speeds. For example, the most relevant time for me in everyday...

    Is P85D horsepower boost imminent?

Probably not, they still refer to "motor power", instead of actual power like the other models. And performance stays unchanged. I'd be more excited if the actual power achievable on a P85D had been leaked instead.
  42. S

    Tesla cuts 60kWh Model S, entry-level Model S is now 70D.

Any idea why the 85D is significantly more efficient than the 70D on the highway (106 vs 102), with the same engines and presumably more weight? Different gearing maybe? But then, why then use the more highway-efficient gearing for the bigger battery?

    1) Absolutely, in my case, Egerkingen and Lully are perfectly placed to enable trouble-free travel between the Zürich area and the Geneva area. The roads to Wallis, Ticino and Graubünden are now supercharged as well, but I haven't tested those yet. And let's not forget the supercharger in France...
