Mine (Sunny Boy 3x) were installed under the Solar Panels on the ground mounts. They seem to operate fine in the Texas heat. The Panels provide 100% shade.

In the middle of a severe thunderstorm and STORM WATCH is in standby, I figured that it would be charging the batteries right now. Luckily they are at 69% so we'll see if the grid goes down. Where does one report issues with storm watch to?

The ground mount is facing due South, not adjustable. If I'd had the $$$, I would have put it on a rotating platform like the big farm sprinklers to follow the sun being as I have the space, :p:p. Happy so far, I am sure the output will increase as the summer makes its arrival..

Highest production so far, 4/8/21. Sunny Boy app states 107.56 kWh, negligible difference.

Thank you, today has been a cloudy, rainy day, so grid's been doing most of the work, hardly enough sun to handle the whole load. still experimenting with the setting in the app, learning as much as possible. It is very addictive to say the least...:cool:

FINALLY!!!! AEP Texas came by and did their "inspection" and swapped meters, commissioned, PTO granted. I am finally running off solar. pics to follow later. Solar company sending tech out later to set up the Sunny Boy inverters so I can monitor their output better. Tesla app working.

I signed my contract back in late June 2020, through South Texas Solar Systems. Engels Solar Electric did the actual physical installation of the 48 panel array and inverters (mid December), the 3 Powerwalls (mid January) and the Gateway 2 (March 5). Hoping for a PTO no later than the 15th....

Well the Tesla Gateway 2 was installed on 3/5/21. AEP Texas came out did the disconnect, the load wiring was transferred, power restored. quick test to ensure no hiccups come AEPTX inspection/PTO day (5-10 business days 😶) everthing looked good! so just the wait now....

I am allegedly getting my gateway 2 installed on Friday, 3/5! I am excited to say the least. 95% to 99%, then the final hurdle, PTO....

We went 3.5 days without power/water. It sucked! I only wish I had pulled the trigger on solar sooner....lol.

No, the installers took off the film off the 1st (nearest the wall) and 2nd (middle), due to the mounting method used, the exposed (3rd) still has the the majority of the wrap, which I will remove when they FINALLY come to install the damned gateway 2....

"bummer" does not even describe the feelings i had during the Great Freeze of '21....lol...

I got my 3 Powerwalls installed last month, but am waiting the install of the Gateway 2 (it is on back order) to have my solar system completed. I wasn't given a time frame because Tesla did not give the install company a time frame. :(

So back to my original question. Anyone heard of a delay on the gateway 2? I was told 14 days a week ago, I can only keep my fingers crossed and pray to the solar gods...

Yes, my roof configuration is wacky, so being as I have an acre of land, the northwest corner was perfect for my install.

Bought the house already built, so no input on the style, etc.
