    Front bumper damaged-insurance question

Recently a gentleman at the Orlando Airport curbside pickup location , cut across in front of me to pickup his passengers (there are 4 lanes and the right most two lanes are the passenger pickup lanes-I was on the 3rd and he was on the 4th, farthest lane). His right rear bumper ( F-10 pickup)...

    Window glass won't open/close

Yesterday, suddenly my driver side window won't open or close. There was the mechanical noise of a "motor" working but glass wouldn't slide up or down. Taking for service tomorrow. My Model S85 is four and a half years old. Anyone else had similar problems?

    Range versus comfort

True Tesl Milege I drove from Orlando to Jacksonville with a couple of small 12 mile errands. 1. Miles disappear faster if you have the AC on and keep up with the posted high way speed of 70 MPH. 2. Even world class hotels are inadequately reared for electric vehicles. Double tree had three...

    Fab key is less fabulous

Recently on a couple of occasions my Model S key failed to open the door, despite a new battery. I had parked in a parking lot with no wireless service. I had my cell phone but had turned off my cell data service. I had to turn on the cell data to get the Tesla app working. Once I opened the...

    Spherical "wheels"

I came across this site, Students designing an omnidirectional sphere-wheeled electric motorcycle Spherical wheels, gyro controlled could help in reducing friction, easy parking, steering etc. I also feel that might distribute weight better (I am not a physicist or mechanical engineer) and cause...

    Tesla hearing aid

As a hearing impaired person and a Tesla Model S owner, I humbly submit Tesla should make hearing aids. The following are the reasons: 1. There is money in it. Modern hearing aids cost a fortune; weight by weight, they could be more pricy than gold. 2. There is a void of new technology. Current...

    "key" recognition

This morning my Model S did not recognize either of my keys and wouldn't open the doors although the batteries were relatively new (got the car services about 3 months back and it was supposed to include insertion of new batteries!). Fortunately, through the iPhone app, I was able to "unlock"...

    Oldest electric car?

When I was Omaha, Nebraska last week, I came across a 1920 Rauh & Lang Electric car. On a single charge, it gave about 70 miles! Apparently the owner paid $4000 at that time and drove 1906 miles!

    Rain and trunk

After a heavy rain, when I opened the rear trunk, water came pouring=in from the opened lid. Is it common or do I have a "leak" somewhere/ Anyone else had experienced similar things after a downpour?

Tesla-Great electrical and mechanical engineers but poor interior and function design

I have become a little weary of Tesla software updates. They are marginal increments of Navigation, mostly new chargers, charging routes, quickest way to charging stations etc. Why are simple features (alternate routes, avoid toll roads, etc) that are available even in the cheapest GPS gadgets...

    Model S versus a Motorcycle

I used to ride motorcycle and was always amazed by the tremendous acceleration of heavy bikes. Has anyone raced a Tesla Model S against a decent street bike? I was shamed by a mere 400-500 CC bike in the next lane last week.

    Impressions after service

    1. Promptly picked up my vehicle. Inspected thoroughly before driving off. I didn't need a temporary vehicle. 2. Kept me informed. 3. Replaced driver side floor mat (Kept rolling up) and a rubber seal of the passenger side with no charges. 4. Provided every item that was on the check list. The...

    Weather stripping gasket

    bold new paint ideas

Chemical and nano sciences have advanced far. Near IR fluorescence chemicals and quantum dot chemicals could change car colors at random depending on the light and other things. I am hopeful the paint industry would take note of these items. I would like my car to be a chameleon that would...

    Want Tesla Jr.

I would love to have a junior Tesla S for my retirement. Very compact, 2 seater, trunk enough to carry groceries and a couple of 22" suitcases, about 100 Hp equivalent, 0-60 in 8-10 seconds, range of about 500 miles, quiet as a whisper with road noise completely cut off, great sound system...

    Anyone bored?

It is over a year since I bought my model S. I love my Model S but am bored with the car! It is exceptional and practically flawless. Had only very minor problems that were corrected in an outstanding manner. The current car is my 23rd car and my experience has been weird. I am mentally...

Forgive me if I missed navigation

I was browsing the web and came across a couple of posting regarding setting navigation prefernces regarding routes. I wasn't aware of this. How do I set the preference. I usually avoid toll roads to pay for my Tesla (in Orlando, it is substantial)!

    ETN EV Quick charger

    Charger port problem

I live in sunny, hot Florida and after a long day outside, the charger port door wouldn't remain closed. The magnetic discs are held by an adhesive pad that just melted and the magnet wouldn't remain in place. The door kept opening up. I took it to the service center to had it replaced. It was...

    Touch screen failure

Yesterday, my touch screen was blank-dead, black, and unresponsive. Driving shift lever appeared to work. I had to go somewhere and was in a hurry and was apprehensive. I called the Tesla service and they were helpful and assured me that the computer needed rebooting. I didn't know how to...

    200, 300, or 400

I am planning to buy a new home and the builder gave me the option of 200, 300, 04 400 amp circuit. It will be an all electric house and I keep my Tesla Model S85 plugged in whenever I am at home. Is it safe to have a higher amp circuits (the difference between each is about $2000)? In my...

    Starts slow

After the last update, my Model S takes a few extra seconds to come on before I could shift to gear. Has anyone else noticed it? Charged charging experience

I was looking for a place to charge my Model S in the St. Augustine/Jacksonville area and stumbled onto the Coggin Nissan dealership. What kind of charger to install

My institution is considering installation of general EV chargers in the parking lot. Several questions popped up. 1. What type of charger? 2. How many bays? 3. How long a duration to permit users to plug-in. 4. To "charge" a dollar amount to the user or not (e.g. a 10 dollar worth of charge"...

    Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

I start driving my Model S with absolute calmness, peace, and enjoy the quietness. Often I drive at the posted speed, on the right lane allowing speed demons to pass by. I choose scenic backroads to busy freeways. However, I can't handle the drivers who tailgate and get my blood pressure up. I...

    A sneaky suspicion

I bought my Tesla Model S about a month back and at that time, the map didn't recognize my home in a new subdivision. There were no street names (or even near by streets). Yesterday, the locality appeared with street names (even though the navigation from/to doesn't work). Does Tesla update...

    Freeway signs and others

    1. Just like Freeway signs for eating places, Hotels, gas etc along freeway exits, it might be great idea to include a sign for electric charging stations. 2. Tesla Model S weight

I notice that Tesla Model S is a very heavy car with over 1500 lb of battery itself. Does this pose a problem in controlling momentum, breaking, and damage in terms of collision? How do the insurance handle this? Is it wise to have a larger insurance collision policy. How does the weight compare...
