Powerwall 2 Available Energy After 2 Years

Yeah I’m at around 13380 each on my three PW2s just over three and a quarter years post install. My PWs are cycled daily from 100-33%. I don’t have a data point from install but I’m going to guess that my total pack energy might have been closer to 15000 on install like @jjrandorin’s...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

I believe it used to say something to this effect on Tesla’s Connected Solutions page. Now it just says something like “performance will depend on your system and other factors.”

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

Thanks for clarifying my lack of clarity. I would add too that if your solar panels are producing more than your house is using during an event, that export is also added to your event average along with your Powerwall export.
  5. jhn_

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

Yeah I shouldn’t have said grid in that sentence. Power to your house during an event counts towards you average event export since if it wasn’t coming from your battery you would be using it from the grid anyways… its all about reducing the strain on the grid.

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

The payout is based on average kw to the grid during events. So as long as you participated in all the events, your average is not lowered by how many events there were in a season.

Even though the app said the ACH would take 5-7 days, the deposit posted in my checking account yesterday. One day after asking for the payout in the app. 🤷‍♂️🎉

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

I think we have the very helpful Tesla Energy Support to thank for another update. She said she was going to go to her manager for more answers after she hung up the call with me, detailed in the previous post. And now two short hours later I got an email from ‘[email protected]’...

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

I submitted a Tesla Energy ticket through the app a few day ago just asking the question “is [email protected] still the support contact address for the Connected Solutions VPP program?” One data point and maybe treat it with a grain of salt… Got a call today from a very helpful...

Anyone else see the updated “compensation” process described on the Tesla Connected Solutions site? https://www.tesla.com/support/energy/virtual-power-plant/connectedsolutions Seems like they are moving to requesting payment through the app. I don’t see anything like they describe in my app...

    Voltage Offgrid

This. If you have 120v devices working above nominal voltage, why are you worried about them if the are forced to work below? As long as the voltage is in the devices rated operating voltage range they should be find, otherwise they are poorly designed and built devices and if you want to...

What is PW's KW draw when charging from the grid? I have 2 PW's and they are charging at 2.4kw.

I second these observations on our PW2s. We see the same numbers now. A few years ago when they we installed though it was always about 5kw per PW regardless of mode.

Wondering about generator use with Solar Roof and Powerwalls

Like @nyprepper said, you can’t charge the PWs in this setup. But this is the setup supported by Tesla. I have the same setup. In four years I have not had to run the generator and all grid down situations have been navigable without just the PWs we have. My generator transfer switch is setup...

Wondering about generator use with Solar Roof and Powerwalls

If your 200A main panel is is now fully backed up from the gateways (ie - main panel from before Powerwall install was turned into backup loads panel after install). And the sub panel and generator isolation switch are wired into the 200A panel, then yes you can run your generator just like...

    Cold powerwall

We have 3 PW2s mounted inside an unheated, attached garage in New England. Some heat from the home makes it warmer in the garage than directly outside, but it can get plenty cold. Our install was over three years ago before the cold weather kit existed. This morning it is 17F outside and 32F in...

Tesla Says I Can Only Get *ONE* Powerwall bc of my Utility's Rules

Discussion: Powerwall 3 [Speculation / Discussion etc]

This is what I would bet on. Essentially a PW3 that they leave so parts out of so they get economy of scale in manufacturing only one box and can retire the PW2. Let’s call it the PW3- .

    Tesla App visuals

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

Event discharged 5-7pm as scheduled. So that was a weird first. Maybe the demand was so high during the day that they changed the charging behavior so that the grid had less demand all day. 🤷‍♂️

Tesla to add the ability to Charge EV with excess solar

The app doesn’t control anything. The app is just an interface. The gateway in the Powerwall (separate or integrated with PW+) install controls the drive on solar feature and determines when and where the power goes.

Does Powerwall have a UL 9450A test report?

Realize not completely relevant since I’m not in CA. But the docs you reference here with mounting specs have been online since at least my PWs were installed in 2020, 36” above grade and 10” apart.

    Weird Solar/PV generation issue

Looks like an inverter cooling issue from what I’ve seen with other posts of similar issues here. You must have more than one inverter and that is why production doesn’t drop completely off when one of them is overheating during peak generation.

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

As others replied, events have always worked this way. The solar for the whole day charges the batteries only until they are full then the solar will power the house and go back to the grid. Now there are just graphics in the app showing this. I for one love the connected solutions program and...

    Interesting event today

My gateway buffered data during nearly a week long internet outage we had due to an ice storm last winter. I’ve also seen the reverse happen and data disappear even though it was once there. After a server issue at Tesla in 2021, we lost all historic data in the app before June 2021.
  48. jhn_

Connected Solutions Real-World Experiences (MA - National Grid / EverSource)

No guessing needed. The event payout is based on average kw over the length of the event times the dollars per kw in your Connected Solutions contract. See earlier discussions in this thread going back two years for more detail.
