    2017 Investor Roundtable:General Discussion

If it's way out of price range of the typical family in the US then how is it already (almost) the average price? Remember, Elon said that even the base model would be highly compelling. Average U.S. transaction price hits record $34,077, Edmunds says We are also ignoring the rebates and...

2017 Investor Roundtable: TSLA Market Action

We're down $70+ from our high and the first production model 3 rolls off the line tomorrow. Not sure where the short term bottom lies, but I have started adding to my position.

    TSLA Trading Strategies

I understand that @MitchJi, if TSLA heads lower in short order the option value will certainly increase. I am not sure what your point is here exactly. I doubt someone would exercise it if it was not in the money, and even if they did do that, l would come out a winner.

    TSLA Trading Strategies

Thanks @Johathon Hewitt and @neroden for your words of wisdom. This is exactly what I was looking for, thoughts and considerations, not specific buying or selling advice. I've been trading options for about 3 years now (infrequently) and have had the most success writing call options, and...

    TSLA Trading Strategies

Anyone else tempted to write Jan19 100 puts (or similar)? They are fetching a premium of 13.75 which means that TSLA would need to be below $86.25 in more than 2 years to lose money. Like @neroden, I would only do this cash secured.

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

Part of me thinks the new product announcement might be a Tesla-only ride sharing platform. We know from MP 2.0 they want to develop a phone app to summon a car and release your car to the autonomous fleet. Why not release this platform before full autonomy is available? Give a greater...

Somewhat OT... Stephen Gandel (the author of that Fortune article that prompted the blog response from Tesla) did a AMA on reddit. Hey, I am Stephen Gandel, a senior editor at Fortune, and have been writing about Tesla and Elon Musk's stock sales recently. AMA! I suspect he regrets doing an...

POLL: How many deliveries will Tesla make in Q2?

From the Q1 shareholder letter: "In Q2, we expect to produce about 20,000 vehicles, representing a sequential increase of nearly 30%, and will deliver as many of these cars as we can in Q2, with the rest being delivered in Q3. Due to a large number of vehicles in transit to customers in Europe...

I think it's a definite possibility to see that type of price but my timeframe would be May 2016. This includes Q1 which I expect to be the big catalyst. Of course, gigafactory, M3 reveal, and MX ramp won't hurt either. What makes you think Q4 deliveries might be announced Monday...

    Advanced TSLA Options Trading

So I'm in the situation bolded above - tax deferred account. DITM J15 150's bought when TSLA dipped to 120 last fall. I concur that TSLA is trading in the mid-high range currently but am planning on holding since I feel the odds are strongly in favor of TSLA making a new ATH between now and...

What other tech stock to consider?

True, Scrypt was designed against ASICs but there are some smart people out there working on doing it anyways, some companies are already taking preroders for ASIC scrypt miners. Could be a scam, but I wouldn't rule it out as possible -> Scrypt-based miners and the new cryptocurrency arms race -...

What other tech stock to consider?

I'm guessing you're not using your radeons to directly mine bitcoins at home either(?) The online calculators make it pretty clear you can't earn anything anymore mining SHA-256 coins (Bitcoin, and others) using GPU mining. You now need a ASIC be be profitable for those coins. I've been...

    Newbie Options Trading

I don't think taking profits could ever be considered a 'huge mistake'. Some of the best trades I've made are the ones I've sold too early. If it were me I would have been tempted to sell 3 of them and ride the remaining 2 options risk free. Congrats on the trade.

    Alternative Energy Investor Discussions

Sleepyhead, I appreciate all your feedback. I must say when I purchased those Nov strikes I was more in the gambling mood. Now, not so much... I'm human that way. I don't need people to tell me exactly what to buy. I simply believe there is value when people share their investment...

    Alternative Energy Investor Discussions

Sleepy and others, What calls are you buying on CSIQ? I started my position about a month ago with common shares and more recently bought some Nov 25 strikes for 0.60 each. However, given the quick run-up in price we've had lately along with current market uncertainty (debt ceiling) I'm...

Haven't heard from Julian in a while. It would be a shame to lose him as a contributor to the forum. His posts are always so eloquent. Would be nice to hear his thoughts to the most recent Tesla news/action. I for one am pretty impressed how Elon addressed the fire in his blog. Julian...

    Newbie Options Trading

By 'losses' you must mean lost profit potential because in the situation where the stock skyrockets you wouldn't lose money. You would profit the sell of stock at strike price + profits from sell of call. Edit: This is for a covered call. You're correct in regard to a naked call.

    Tesla Gigafactory Investor Thread

Neat story. Perhaps I'm missing obvious but what does he mean by a "1% supplier"? " Elon went on to say that any supply issues would be from a 1% supplier but he mentioned nothing specifically"

    Newbie Options Trading

Which LEAPS did you buy? Depending on what strike you bought it's possible there's been 0 volume over the last couple trading days. That would make the current price the last traded price = your price. If you go to google finance you can view the option chain and see the volume on all the...

    Analyst Reports/Targets

So if this report is accurate Tesla will hit at least $322 per share. If we assume it will do in the average time frame of stocks that have previously fit this high, tight flag pattern - 29 weeks - then that leaves us 18 weeks remaining (since 11 has passed since forming the flag). This puts...

So I've reached out once previously in regard to this and didn't get much feedback but I'm going to try again. This time, I've done my own reading/research and have come up with some options. Pre Q2 I bought some Sept 175's. I'm 50% in the red on these. I am trying to determine the best...

    Newbie Options Trading

Can anyone offer any thoughts on Sept calls? I'm holding some Sept 175's at 50% loss right now. Seems like the overwhelming opinion is that we are going to see a slow and steady climb the remaining 2 quarters. But will that growth be so slow that the option value is offset by it's...

You'll look like a genius if you're right and if you're wrong and it gaps up to $145 I think 'way over 100% in profit' still puts you very very far away from looking like a fool. :) Yes, weekdays are capitalized in English.

Yes, that suffices. Thank you. On a better note I bought some Sept 160's the day after the GS *upgrade* caused the drop to 108. Up 103% on those.
