    Canadian CHAdeMO charging

Same. I don't use it all the time though, and I make sure the cord is hanging in a way that doesn't put a ton of weight on it. The CCS1 adapter is smaller, but you're still going to have similar issues.

Wait, what about Leaf drivers? Is this only on some stalls?

    Auto Dimming Mirrors.... Kinda Dark

Do they new models still include it? I thought it was discontinued some time ago.

    Supercharger - Princeton, BC

It's a perfect stop for any LR model leaving Vancouver. I live downtown and make it there easily. V3 is so much better too. I was there last month and it was over 50% in use when I stopped.

    Western Canada Superchargers

Why would you say they are printing money? The demand charges for electricity at those current levels is probably higher than what we're paying Tesla.

    Auto Dimming Mirrors.... Kinda Dark

Behold! I stand corrected, it's coming: https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/533/tesla-upcoming-2021-24-release-to-contain-disney-car-wash-mode-and-more Unfortunately this just appears to be an on/off thing, not adjustable. I wonder if it saves with the driver profile.

    Auto Dimming Mirrors.... Kinda Dark

The side mirrors are easy. I just put a bigger wide angle mirror over top of the rearview. :) I was hoping for the promised software fix, but that seems to have been forgotten.
  8. theredviper

    Auto Dimming Mirrors.... Kinda Dark

You can disconnect the side mirror auto dimming feature. It's separate from the positioning controls and not too hard to do (just have to have confidence popping the mirrors out). I did that, hoping they'd eventually fix this in software somehow. No easy disconnect for the rearview, but you can...

    Supercharger - West Kelowna, BC

Lots of wild speculation on that SC site. I find it quite funny they've updated it with these specifics when past information indicates it's about 25% accurate. SCs pop up all the time that aren't even on their radar going by that site. o_O

    Western Canada Superchargers

I think it's understandable that Tesla doesn't service some of these lower traffic routes. Full credit to BC Hydro for coming through with at least 50kW charging, and often at no charge.

    Supercharger - West Kelowna, BC

So weird how this stuff pops up without warning from Tesla on their site, which has hundreds of "coming soon" locations languishing for years. Oh well, good find, good location, V3 rules!
  12. theredviper

    Supercharger - Princeton, BC

It's a bit of a different equation if they are building V3. 4-6 is fine in smaller areas. I'd rather have more sites than big concentrated ones with 20+ chargers. You can always see how full they are in the Nav.

    Western Canada Superchargers

Pacific Centre has a grace period? How long? Maybe if they were 250kW
  14. theredviper

    Supercharger - Princeton, BC

No, Osoyoos doesn't have a known location yet does it?

    Supercharger - Princeton, BC

Hard to say, there looked like an extra box or two, painted white like the Tesla equipment but no logos.
  16. theredviper

    Western Canada Superchargers

Big problem IMO is the Vancouver chargers are in expensive paid lots. I understand paying a few dollars in parking but Pacific Centre? Come on.
  17. theredviper

    Supercharger - Princeton, BC

Went through Princeton on Saturday and took a peep at these chargers. 8 x V3, they look totally ready to go, but still fenced. I'm guessing they are waiting on BC Hydro to energize.

Great news! Thanks for the update.

    Supercharger - Princeton, BC

Great info, thanks. I've also been on the Vancouver-Osoyoos route a few times this summer. I have the Chademo adapter but Manning is an ideal stop for everyone so it's pretty busy. Princeton and Keremeos have paid Chademo that is a bit expensive.
  20. theredviper

    Western Canada Superchargers

With respect to Chademo and CCS, remember that Tesla's superchargers are still faster and cheaper than anything that those other networks (Electrify Canada, Cdn Tire, Petro Canada) are deploying. Only BC Hydro has free chargers in some locations.
  21. theredviper

    Western Canada Superchargers

Chademo is great in BC, and often the stops are more scenic. Manning Park is a great one (though busy). Hope Slide is kind of cool, and there are 2 there so almost always available.
  22. theredviper

    Western Canada Superchargers

I think it's the SR+ issue, they can't make it further than Merritt. Perhaps a boost in Hope would get them to Kelowna or Kamloops. It would be nice if Merrit could go to 250kW, or get more V2 stalls.
  23. theredviper

    Western Canada Superchargers

Surrey was very busy with 12 urban chargers and they added another 8, around the same time Richmond came online. They are both well used but available now. The problem is the 2 downtown Vancouver urban spots with 8 and 22 spaces respectively, are both in very expensive pay lots.
  24. theredviper

    Western Canada Superchargers

Drove the Hope-Princeton highway this weekend. Princeton and/or Osoyoos SCs are badly needed. I have a Chademo adapter and managed to hit Manning Park on the way, but it's a single charger and very busy. Other EVs need it to get over the park I think. Hope Slide is a nice 2xL3 spot and a cool...

    2020.12.5

Is there any other reset/reboot method that is different than the double-salute?
  26. theredviper

    2020.12.5

Doesn't it store the past 10 minutes after the triggering event? In otherwords, the trigger is near the end of the sequence? I haven't had a chance to see anything yet, but have reviewed other footage. The 10 mins at once, and synchronized multi-cam view, is fantastic IMO.

    Auto Dimming Mirrors.... Kinda Dark

I'm still waiting too, but at least unplugged them in the mean time (I'm ok with them as is, but wife was freaking out)
  28. theredviper

    Auto Dimming Mirrors.... Kinda Dark

Can somebody tell me if I can just pop the actual mirror off to get at those plugs or do I need to take the whole assembly off the car. Everything I've seen relates to chrome delete, and in just looking to disable the auto dimming. TIA.

Using CHAdeMO on model 3 on Chargepoint

Same thing with AC/L2 charging though. The heating has been shown to use about 3kW in the Model 3, I can't see using over 4 with every possible power item on and draining.

    Disney+ on model 3?!

Yes I use that for Plex, I thought the poster was referring to just using the "built in" web browser.

    Not full screen.

    Supercharger - Richmond, BC

The convenience of what? I'm parking there to charge, not visit the local amenities. Look, I know it is what it is, but the usage of that station speaks for itself.
  33. theredviper

    Supercharger - Richmond, BC

True. Brentwood should come online much sooner. In the meantime I'll use the downtown BC Hydro DCFCs when I need a boost in a hurry.
  34. theredviper

    Supercharger - Richmond, BC

I know it's a joke, but the parking at PC is $3.75 per half hour. It's a bit on the high side, to put it mildly.
  35. theredviper

    Supercharger - Richmond, BC

It's a shame that the downtown locations, specifically Pacific Centre, are such expensive parking lots. Surely they could have worked out a better deal with a city-owned lot for free parking for 45 mins or something similar. Those 22 stations are almost never more than half full, for good...

FAT32 vs EXT4 for Sentry Mode?

Are you formatting in Linux with any specific parameters?
  38. theredviper

FAT32 vs EXT4 for Sentry Mode?

Just the USB key I use now, which is already multi-partitioned. I'm guessing it will function the same as the SSD. Can't hurt to try.
  39. theredviper

FAT32 vs EXT4 for Sentry Mode?

Any issues splitting a USB into EXT4 for music and FAT32 for sentry? I currently do this with FAT32 on both, but since v10 I've been experiencing some very brief audio dropouts, and I'm wondering if EXT4 will be better for performance on the music side. Seems to be from what I'm reading.

    LTE Issues

I'm in Vancouver, June 2018 purchase date, and have similar issues, sometimes. I'd say 90% of the time I pull out of the parkade, it connects right away. Even as I'm driving out at the upper level it will grab 3G, then LTE when it can. But yes, 10% of the time when it doesn't connect, it's...

    Supercharger - Richmond, BC

They don't have to make the S and X upgrades free for this hypothetical CCS adapter. They could make it 1-2 hours of labour and control demand that way. But... It took 2+ years just to software enable the existing Chademo adapter for the 3. And they've had a lot of recent free supercharging...

    Supercharger - Richmond, BC

It's worth noting that there are dozens of Chademo stations around the province if you want to road trip, many in locations not served by the Supercharging network (yet) and more on the way. They are either free, or have per kWh pricing that is comparable-ish to Supercharger rates.
  43. theredviper

    Supercharger - Richmond, BC

I will be impressed if this charger is routinely full, at 72 or 150 (shared) kW.

    Future Superchargers on I-5

This happened with our 2nd urban supercharger in Vancouver too. It was literally under construction for 3-4 months, no hint of anything on Tesla's site until it was open and then it's in the car UI, etc. So weird, and unexplainable. Their supercharger map does get updated over time, just not...

    Glovebox closing alignment

Thanks I guess I will schedule a service request and see what happens. Not urgent and I work close to a service center.
  46. theredviper

    Glovebox closing alignment

My glovebox functions perfectly, has since day one (June 2018). I don't use it much, just has insurance documents, etc. However the alignment has started to bug me, it doesn't look as closed on the passenger side. I feel like the angle when I'm in the driver's seat looks worse than this picture...

CCS for Model 3 in North America

Tesla does great things, but they are on Elon time. I'd love to be able to charge at 100kW+ at all DCFC stations out there, but we've waited long enough for Chademo. I have my adapter and it's going to help out on some summer road trips today.

Does “shore power” go through the battery?

Great, so I can and should run all accessories and HVAC while on a free charger?
  50. theredviper

Does “shore power” go through the battery?

I'm no electrician and can only guess wildly, but wouldn't that require multiple AC-DC rectifiers? and possibly more DC-DC voltage converters to get from 375V to 12V? My guess is that it all runs through the HV battery.
