First V12 drive this morning. 20 mile commute, no overrides! (first time for me)

I couldn’t figure out what those guys were talking about over there ……… so I’m chiming in here. Got v12 right before my regular 350 mile trip to see grandkids and was pretty excited. Performance on freeways was excellent (although V11 was pretty good there too). EXCEPT ….. I always disengaged...

Are our Teslas snooping on us? We should know.

Pretty sure privacy is an illusion.

Model Y - Flapping in front end during wind gusts

I’ve noticed that. I assume it is the grill and louvers for the coolant radiator up front. Only happens in extra windy, cross-wind, conditions when I’m going at highway speed. Not worrying about it.

Ready to order MYLR but have EAP question

You could go to an actual Car Dealer …… and have an even worse experience if you want …..

    Model Y purchase

Right about here, I would have bailed ……… and just started over with a fresh order.

Is it common to PPF just front bumper?

I went with front bumper only. Totally happy with that.

New Order, adding to our Tesla family

Don’t know about cargo cover ….. and not sure what kind of floor mats you mean. It should come with floor mats …. But not the all-weather type most of us want. All of the cars come with a J-1772 adapter.

HW3.0 upgrade for basic AP owners now free?

Good for you for trying again. I have found that being nice and asking for what I want …… maybe a couple of times …… has always led to good results with Sales and SC folks.

DQOTD: Has Anyone Worn Out/Replaced a Tesla Mobile Connector?

My original MC started throwing a red T fault a couple months ago. Figured out it was the 5-15 adaptor that went bad for some reason. Got a new one.

Using only the camera turn signal when changing lanes

Same as UncleCreepy …. I always do a mirror check before signaling ….. BUT then I check the camera view, because I sometimes miss something.

    First Ever Failure to Charge

Yeah … I’ve seen that. Maybe 1-3 times over past 2.5 years. I just put it in the glitch column. Software does that sometimes.

Ready to order MYLR but have EAP question

Totally agree with @Tronguy - I bought EAP a couple years ago to assist with frequent 500-mile road-trips to visit grandkids. Absolutely agree that it takes most stress out of flying down the interstates. I do also use it regularly on well-maintained, well-marked state highways in IL. Liked...

How often do you use a Supercharger?

I do a 400 mile road-trip to see grandkids about every 6 weeks or so. Two SC stops each way. And several other random/vacation/exploring roadtrips each year with SC stops included. The rest of the time I charge at home.

Joined the Club! Tesla Model Y Performance - Ordered

Yay!!! Welcome! You’re gonna love the car. My wife was skeptical of the whole thing at first, and is NOT a car person. But I now take great pleasure in listening to her tell others how much she enjoys and appreciates the car.

    Autopilot won’t. FSD probably will.

    How Does Tesla Operate?

Sorry about your test drive experience. The AWD models aren’t available anywhere yet. They should have told you that, But don’t let that, or the experience above scare you off. While it is true that some have this experience, most do not. For most it is an easy and seamless process. I’ve...

    Maintenance

Nothing special required for a road trip (or much else, actually). Top up the windshield washer fluid and maybe check your tire pressure by looking at the TPMS numbers. Toss your mobile connector and J1772 adapter in the trunk somewhere. Put your destination in the navigation box, hit the...

    Pearl white and rock chips

I’ve got a white one and after a few rock chips I sprung for PPF on just the front bumper. Glad I did …. And wish I had done it sooner. Didn’t do anything for the black one and hardly notice any chips. Next one I buy, I’ll probably spring for a Tesla wrap.

    Range Concerns

I would say quit thinking in terms of miles. Just think SOC or % of charge. Drive the car and go to the Supercharger it tells you to go to. Relax, get a snack, charge up, and continue your trip. Seriously, stop thinking about range and enjoy the car. Think back to your ICE car. Did you...

Has anyone done wheel alignment at Tesla?

Well …. I noticed some uneven tire wear, took car to Tesla for alignment, paid them the money, and tire wear stopped. 🤷‍♂️

Life span for Continental ProContact Rx Tires

2023 Model Y no USS discussion, incl. Discussion of Tesla Vision Firmware

…… but none of those features is particularly useful/practical in real world situations. Of the three, I can use auto park sucessfully when backing into a supercharger space maybe 15% of the time. I quit trying to use summon/smart summon after a few attempts …. Some of which were dramatic...

Vendor 🚀GIVEAWAY! Lasfit Latest Product Drop: Join Our Test Program 👏

I would like to try either one or both (I have a 21 MY and a 23 M3). I carry cargo with seats down in the 3 frequently ….. and lots of passengers in the Y. Probably a little more interested in the MY underseat protectors because I’ve been considering them for a while.

Automated Braking System Disabled, software version 2023.26.10

I’m getting the message too. “Automatic Emergency Braking Unavailable”. But seems to be only on first start of series of drives …. And only when in garage before backing out.

    Range Concerns

Yeah …. the M3RW is totally fine in the rurals …. Unless ground clearance is a need. I got the MYLR because I was (buying my first EV) worried about range. Based on experience, realized range was not a worry, got the M3RW second. As you say, because charging to 100% is no problem, I can...

Is Owning a Tesla Y Manageable in a State Without a Service Center?

Maintenance and Repairs: - What maintenance? All I’ve done on my 2021MY is rotate the tires …… myself. Dropped by an SC while on road trip once to have front end aligned after noticing some uneven tire wear ….. but that was probably optional. 56,000 miles and going strong. Figure I’ll swing...

America's tire lifting model Y without jack pad - is it safe?

FYI …… Had some new tires put on the Y recently. Out here in the rurals, they’ve only heard of Discount Tire ……. So I ordered my tires from Tire Rack and took them down to the local shop. Good guys down there but never seen an EV before. Pucks were essential for the lift they had ….. and they...

America's tire lifting model Y without jack pad - is it safe?

Well …… I actually have that first jack you mention and don’t love it. The cup on the jack is much smaller than radius of puck. Wish it encapsulated as you suggest. If it did, that would be great. Seems unstable to me as it digs into puck and shifts slightly when lifting. Would strongly...

Model Y Looking for covers or protectors against curb rash

Lots and lots of wheel covers out there that cover the rims so you only damage the covers ….. and they all look awesomer than the aero covers (which have metal clips that actually damage your wheels). I have the original Rimetrix. They look great…. Take a beating …. And can be replaced...

Is it safe to do a trip from Phoenix USA to Calgary Canada with family plus luggage in RWD Model 3

Yeah ….. the advice from ….. @smogne41 is right on target. Do what he says and you will have a great trip. Then when you get back, you can reply to the next new owner that worries about this by saying what he said. Enjoy the drive!

I think some have also done it at the SC when picking the car up. SA should be able to enter your routing and account numbers in the system for you.

Can I delay delivery past the three days that's on the calendar?

Yes. Message them. They do have discretion …. But willingness to be flexible can vary. I was able to delay one of my appointments almost a week beyond the original window. I was careful to be real nice, respectful, and appreciative when explaining my reasons for requesting a delay.
