    Door alignment slightly off?

The fix was adjusting the latch plate in the door. 99% of these issues can be fixed with a T40 socket screw driver and some adjusting. Had I known, I would have skipped the trip out to the SC Edit: What I don't understand, is why this isn't caught at the factory though

2021 LR Model 3 - How do I fix this annoying trunk lid alignment?

Honestly, you might just want to live with it. Yours isn't bad.. although the one pic seems pretty off (IMG_1584). Theres a few points of adjustment but I recommend getting a buddy to help hold things in place. Two bolts on each hinge of the trunk. There are also rubber gaskets you can twist...

2021 LR Model 3 - How do I fix this annoying trunk lid alignment?

Just giving an update - I was able to get it much much better to a point where it won't bother me anymore. I slightly adjusted the latch plate and added a plastic spacer on the right side of the trunk to make the gap even. At least it looks symmetrical now lol

Good luck.. Hopefully they don't goof that up

2021 LR Model 3 - How do I fix this annoying trunk lid alignment?

When I had service take a look a few weeks ago, they had my trunk realigned (I messed with the hinge bolts and messed it up). Unfortunately, that gap still persists. It's just something I'll have to live with. I might try moving the trunk latch and see if that has any impact. But I don't think...

2021 LR Model 3 - How do I fix this annoying trunk lid alignment?

Yikes, thanks for sharing. I had service look at it today actually. Ultimately you're right in that the fix can cause more harm than good. Mines still not perfect but I'm the only one who will notice it anyways. I'm just going to learn to live with it.

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

Yeah it was. I would say they closed the gap maybe 50% of what it was. They said the fender has to be pulled in closer to the door. It's still not perfect but I'm going to guess it's a manufacturing defect on some of the first refreshes

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

I'll live with the minor imperfections now. But they definitely made them better so I'm happy they did give it an attempt and explained to me what they did

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

Okay guys update time! Door.. Fixed! It was a fender adjustment. Rear glass replaced. Trunk.. It's not perfect but it's much better. Some of the gaps seem wider but hey, its still better than it was so I'm going to live with it. I'll also say the door still isn't perfect but it is definitely...

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

I'm gonna keep the updates here. I know a lot of threads die off and we never get the response. So I dropped the car off at 8:30am, was given a rental from enterprise. Said car would be done by tomorrow afternoon. Fast forward until now and I just got word the car is done. If I had known. I...

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

Just wanted to give everyone an update on this. I have a service appointment scheduled to replace the rear glass, adjust the door, and look at the Trunk. I received an estimate from Tesla and they are treating the door and the trunk as good will service. I'm going to go out on a whim here and...

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

Definitely. I'm slowly learning to ignore these small flaws. I still have a service appointment scheduled for next Thursday, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm just trying to work with a local collision center to have my rear-windshield replaced. There seems to be a lot of confusion with...

Agreed. It definitely sucked me in and took me down a rabbit hole

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

Yeah, exactly. Just gotta look past the minor hiccups. In a few years, I'm sure the qc will be light-years better as Tesla gets more competition and ultimately has to stay competitive. For now, just need to realize we're a little bit ahead of the times here. To your point, just gotta enjoy the...

Agreed with you on that. Just gotta focus on the many other perfect aspects of the car

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

Yeah, definitely. I'll probably grab some summers in the future. My main reason for going LR over Performance is due to the winters here in Buffalo. I had summers on my S3 and the car wouldn't move an inch... ended up grabbing some all seasons and that made all of the difference. I really do...

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

Coming from a 2018 S3. I think the S3 had slightly better handling due to it being an S, but I bought acceleration boost so the Model 3 kicks its ass in that department lol

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

To be honest, I'm leaning towards living with it. The Trunk is bugging me more than the passenger door only because it catches my eye every time I see the car. The passenger door, sucks, but meh, I can live with it. The main issue I have with the Trunk is that when it closes, I hear it hit the...

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

Here is my trunk. Again, it is "marginally off" but I'd at least like an attempt to have it adjusted instead of being thrown the "within spec" card with no backing of that statement. It literally has to slide up and to the left. I have the rubber adjusters extended all the way and the right side...

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

There's pictures of this issue in one of the master threads. Basically, I can fit my finger in my passenger door. First is driver side, second is the passenger side. I'll be honest and pictures don't always do a good job showing this. To your point, I would say it is "marginally off" but when...

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

Service center called me. They are surprised that a door would be miss stamped. Had me send pics, said they would show the body guy. Whose ready for the "within spec" response? I've asked a few friends to see if I am crazy over these issues and what they would do. Maybe my friends are all...

Delivery / Service Issues (panel gaps, delivery delays / issues / Service problems etc)

Exactly. No other car forum speaks to the volume of quality issues as does Tesla. I'm learning the hard way now as I have some weird gaps and issues that shouldn't be a thing on a brand new car. Enjoy the games, I'm playing in them right now
  25. I

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

Thank you. I'm just happy that someone at Tesla actually acknowledged that my issues should have been addressed before the car left the factory. It just seems like night and day depending who you talk to and that's the frustrating part about all of this.
  26. I

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

Thanks. I may have struck a nerve at Tesla. They responded to my e-mail fairly quickly and they admitted to me on the phone these issues should have been addressed before the car was even delivered. They want me to schedule a service appointment and they are contacting me within 24-48 hours...

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

Rumor has it they are opening an SC in Buffalo, just not sure when. If the border wasn't closed, there are a few SCs in Canada I'd try first. I may try Pittsburgh or possibly Ohio. Ill have to see. Thank you
  28. I

I need to vent. I want to love this car, but I can't anymore.

The short story is.. I'm just not happy with the car and the money I spent for me to be told things are "within spec" and for me to have to try and fix things myself. I'm not happy that I can't talk to a human. I'm just ready to sell this car at a loss unless I can find someone or somewhere who...

    Model 3 Performance Waiting Room

Would a new door fix this problem? I'm a little late to the party here, but I haven't had all that much time to spend looking at my car. I got delivery on 3/29 and I'm noticing all of these problems now. I know I'm out of the window for them to correct these, but I'm willing to just pay to get...

Delivery / Service Issues (panel gaps, delivery delays / issues / Service problems etc)

So you think this is a bad door print? I keep staring at my gap now haha. I wonder if a new door would fix this? Weird because I ordered the car late February and got it end of March

Repeated Stress Fracture on Front Windshield and Next Steps

That's unbelievable. Sorry for your troubles. I want to be happy and love my car, but I have my own issues and I don't think it's going to get better

Repeated Stress Fracture on Front Windshield and Next Steps

What kind of people do these Service Centers hire? This is crazy.. Why can't they service the car like the other hundred or so auto brands of the world?
  33. I

Delivery / Service Issues (panel gaps, delivery delays / issues / Service problems etc)

Out of curiosity, can you take a Pic of your whole trunk lid? Mine has a smaller gap on the right corner than the left corner. But now I question if this is just normal. Trying to adjust it throws the actual pillar gap out of whack. I'm out of ideas
  34. I

Delivery / Service Issues (panel gaps, delivery delays / issues / Service problems etc)

Yeah, that is where my head is at too. Its hard to notice and its not the worst thing in the world. My only complaint right now is my misaligned trunk (gap on the right is smaller than the left), but I am learning to live with the imperfections
  35. I

Delivery / Service Issues (panel gaps, delivery delays / issues / Service problems etc)

I also have this gap. Has anyone had this issue fixed by Tesla? Wondering if it's worth the bother. I took delivery on 3/29

    Considering Home Delivery?

It actually went really well! If I could have, I probably would have picked it up for the experience. But the carrier direct was great. Driver was super cool, it came on a small tractor trailer. He told me to gun it down the street (my dad was with me) haha.

Expensive lesson learned. I broke my rear glass

Turns out I have a $0 deductible on glass replacement with insurance. Taking it to Carstar in the morning for them to evaluate it along with looking at my trunk if they can fix it. Fingers crossed
  38. I

Expensive lesson learned. I broke my rear glass

I'm going to call them and see if they can do the glass replacement and adjust the trunk. I have a service appointment scheduled, but if I can do this all closer for a reasonable price, I'd rather do that

2021 LR Model 3 - How do I fix this annoying trunk lid alignment?

Moral of the story here - don't mess with it. I broke my rear glass and have an expensive service appointment coming up in a few weeks. I'm also having them fix that trunk or proving to me its "within spec"
  40. I

Expensive lesson learned. I broke my rear glass

I'm just having Tesla do it at this point and I am not going to mess with anything else any further. For now, covering it with black duct tape. No one around here wants to touch the Tesla. Hoping its no more than $1200, but I learned my lesson the hard way. I'm also going to have the SC hook me...

Expensive lesson learned. I broke my rear glass

No, I didn't do research until the week before I took delivery (via carrier direct due to certain circumstances). Like I said in my post, it is my fault but Tesla has bad build quality and they use the excuse of "within spec". Lesson learned the hard way. Can't wait to see how Buffalo Winter...

Expensive lesson learned. I broke my rear glass

Thank you. I'm going to do that and see if safelite can fill it and make it hard to notice. Luckily its not huge, so I think it can be repaired to an extent without replacing the entire rear glass
  43. I

Expensive lesson learned. I broke my rear glass

Frustrated beyond belief, but it's my own fault. I was trying to align my misaligned trunk (its not an issue that can be fixed by adjusting the rubber stoppers, and Tesla said "its within spec"). No local body shops want to work on Teslas which was a fun surprise to learn. So, I figured ill just...

2021 LR Model 3 - How do I fix this annoying trunk lid alignment?

It's from Fremont. Its better, but not perfect. Its no longer rubbing against the bumper so that's a plus
  45. I

2021 LR Model 3 - How do I fix this annoying trunk lid alignment?

Update: It seems to be related to the trunk latch. I got it to look a bit better, but still far from perfect. When I have more daylight I'll monkey around more with it
  46. I

2021 LR Model 3 - How do I fix this annoying trunk lid alignment?

I can't seem figure out where the issue of my trunk lid alignment is coming from. The left side of the trunk lid sits more inset/inward by maybe 1/4 of an inch and the gap is about 1/4 wider. The right side is almost touching the bumper (almost too close for my liking, honestly). I've tried...

    Door alignment slightly off?

Oh boy lol. I'm about an hour and 15 minutes from mine. I am hoping it doesn't turn into an all day event. I've heard about the Tesla certified body shops.. is there a way I can search and find one? (I'll head to Google now). I am trying, but when you spend 50k on a car, I would at least...

    Door alignment slightly off?

I just received my new M3 LR. Car is amazing and for the most part, no major issues or panel gaps. One thing I just noticed is the driver side doors are slightly offset. It's hard to notice, but now that I have, it's driving me mad. I've tried adjusting the door plate but I think the issue is...

    Considering Home Delivery?

I am in the same exact boat as you! I'm in Buffalo and I asked if they could bring the car to Rochester (service center in Henrietta) but they wouldn't. I am going to use carrier direct because my delivery date lines up with my wife's due date for our son (3/23). Guess we will see how this goes...

    Carrier Direct Experience?

Hey Everyone, Just curious if there are any current 2021 M3 owners who used the Carrier Direct Option. I'm just interested in experience and what I can/should expect. To make a long story short, delivery date has lined up with my wife's expected due date of our first child. If I didn't take...
