Somewhere I read (maybe here?) that a H-D is a machine for converting gasoline into much noise and needlessly low horsepower.
My auto inspector who is a bit of a bike fan bent himself double at that quip. He said he prefers a 350 cc ride.
You did drive home the point rather forcefully. Lucky my earphones were plugged in but not in my ears, so it was just an annoying loud scratching noise as the scroll happened to pass your post. That was quite enough of a sample, even if it may have been funny. My loss then.
Another datapoint...
Wow. Well, in that case perhaps SEC should not have promised the Judge to fix it quick. Eh?
Maybe even return the ill-gotten money from those fleeced?
As it turn out however, Musk himself compensated Tesla by buying stock for an equivalent amount, which has expanded bigly since.
But the...
Well, the reverse is also true: Those who prematurely sold because of actions by SEC (decode the acronym how you will) can also claim to have been hurt by those. Suffice it to behold the subsequent share price development.
QED
Fox in henhouse.
Very sorry, seriously, but I just cannot see what you mean.
Perhaps because of not having paid sufficient attention to the current debate. And it has been a long time since the fines.
Could you please add some clarification?
To my reading, SEC was supposed to use the 40M from fines to...
April 1, 2013 was IIRC when Elon tweeted something hopeful about not going negative, for the first time. That signalled to me I should invest, STAT. I did. Was not a joke, as such.
One part may be that she has hired a group of young enthusiastic people to do research in their own particular fields, and to share the findings in joint analysis. The other side does not have those advantages.
Braking early also gives a bit of warning to following vehicles. I often just tap the pedal in case there is a potential situation ahead, even if there is no need to follow through with screeching rubber.
It seems the human (or humane) thing to do.
Yes, I too find it useful to see some filtered content from those "social media" in the instances it is of value. Lets me continue to not endorse the vultures myself while gaining insights from people who do use such channels. Alas, many people and institutions find little alternative nowadays...
A little off-topic and off-twitter background to that:
@michaelh992·59m
#Breaking #Russia has decided to expel US Deputy Ambassador Bartle Gorman from the country.
This was reported alongside the news that Russia has given its response.
Accidentally I became a daytrader the other day! Bought at the early morning dip, 920, and sold a little later at 940. Netted ten bucks for that single share, not bad eh? Net of cost, that is. Not making it a habit.
I just read a comment on another site about ruthless cold-callers who don't respect a NO:
"I really wish them a severe rectal itch and too short arms to reach!"
Sorry, but it did seem apt. 😳
He got shy a few weeks ago and deleted most of his online exposure, but he tells me he is OK otherwise. Or, that was some days ago.
Some of us did get a bit worried.
Please disentangle those multiple negations for my reading pleasure. I might be up all night trying to get what you do mean!
Mod: Sure - Sit on your hands unless you have something productive to share. Easy-peasy.
Brings to mind an anecdote I heard yesterday from a relative:
An elderly man goes to a clinic and seeks care for a partial loss of hearing. The nurse picks out the earplugs he put in months earlier when accompanying a grandchild to a rock concert.
IIRC there were about 38 H2 cars in Norway, most of which stranded out of reach for a filling station after that energetic blowout, which BTW activated the airbags in a ModelX passing by on the throughway. Some years ago. Are you saying Toyota still sells them??
I was extatic to get the opportunity to sell some hard-to-sell TSLA at the then ATH of 1000 and pay off a big part of my mortgage. Here we are today, at five times that valuation. But if I do sell off more now to pay the rest, I'll surely leave money on the table.
No, why not let it roll some...
As a bonus* the armor does'nt get bogged down in mud quite as much. Winter storms are harsh right now for the troops en route on landing ships to Crimea. Anchored up in the middle of Kattegat.
* for the aggressor, that is.
But war politics. I say no more.
ISTR from Linux/Unix/SCO wars of yore that there is something called the Lanham Act which can be disastrously expensive if one gets caught trying to impede a competitor by falsehood. Dowd does seem to fit that bill, IMO.
But I may be wrong, as always. IANAL, etc. DW TLA FTW. ;)
Just a little bit off topic, but referring to the recent talk about an ad in NYT.
"Steve Jobs" at Whole Mars Blog has put up a long post,
Why Dan O’Dowd Has Blood on His Hands
I haven't read it all yet, but this is his advice:
Jordan G (The Limiting Factor on YT) has explained many details but I don't recall exactly what his opinion is on natural versus synthetic graphite. He does mention using silicon as a "dopant" in the graphite for higher power yields; probably also more expensive of course.
Picking this post among many at random for my reply. Nothing personal ;)
I really don't think it is OK to pooh-pooh the importance of failing cabin heating in extreme winter climate. It is actually a life-threatening situation; first, visibility drops dramatically (from bad anyway) due to...
That looks suspiciously similar in idea to what I did on my 1967 Simca and my 1974 MB. Different box tho.
Also kept some old newspapers under the hood overnight in especially cold weather (-30C) to enable startup in the mornings.
