Laminated glass and emergency breaking of glass

So which ones do work? In California, thieves smash Tesla windows in seconds. So what do they use?

FSD Beta for legacy Model S/X with MCU1 (2022.8.10.8)

Odd how surface streets require zero confirmation, and on freeways I still have to stroke the wheel to get an “automatic” lane change. It’s more fun driving on surface streets now.

FSD Beta for legacy Model S/X with MCU1 (2022.8.10.8)

Got cameras on Tuesday and .10 today. I’m blown away. It works!

    Supercharger — Colorado Springs, CO

I hated that downtown SC. A natural place to site an SC is the University Village shopping and dining complex on Nevada. Easy access from south bound I-25 (take Nevada exit). Not so bad for north bound I-25 (take GoG east bound exit). Glad a better location is coming

FSD Beta for legacy Model S/X with MCU1 (2022.8.10.8)

My mobile service is scheduled for next week after being push out due for lack of parts. Interesting I got a message in my inbox today ( Jan 19 ), dated Jan 17, saying that I am eligible for the camera upgrade. This odyssey might finally be over. I spent $7040 for “enhanced autopilot” in...

FSD Beta for legacy Model S/X with MCU1 (2022.8.10.8)

Today on the app I don’t see my safety score and hence no more info about the camera upgrade. I guess that’s it then. I did notice this though. What does the (1) mean?

FSD Beta for legacy Model S/X with MCU1 (2022.8.10.8)

is cryptic but seems to be saying an MCU1 with old cameras got FSD

MCU1 owners: what should we expect from our cars?

On a somewhat related note, today I got a message on the behind the wheel screen to replace the low voltage battery. I used the app to schedule service. The service update from Tesla is that I will also get the eMMC replacement during a mobile service. Appointment is scheduled for Monday...

MCU1 owners: what should we expect from our cars?

Anyone with 2017 MCU1 who paid for FSD by now has AP hardware that allows their car to stop automatically at traffic lights and stop signs, as well as continue through intersections that have green lights provided a car ahead has passed through the intersection. That's it.

    FSD Beta for MCU1 cars

“Tesla Full Self-Driving Beta is now available to anyone in North America who requests it from the car screen, assuming you have bought this option.”

MCU1 owners: what should we expect from our cars?

It’s pretty simple. Tesla promised me my 2017 S had all it needed to have FSD. That wasn’t true and it upgraded me to hw3.0. (And what was Tesla thinking sell me FSD for just $3000?) The FSD beta requires MCU2. I shouldn’t have to pay for MCU2. Tesla has choices here and none of them entail...

    2022.8.10.1 on MCU1

I find that 50 percent of the time, when backing into a SC, I get prompted to auto park. Overall 2022.8.10.x has improved the slow response on the touch screen and also I don’t experience as many display black outs. Also, basic summon works more than 50 percent of the time. It was under 1...

    Phantom braking fixed?

Yes I've experienced the same, and it is annoying. At least it is predictable and so I know to keep my foot on the accelerator when caution lights show up. What is also annoying is the car braking for traffic lights that aren't illuminated. But this is the fault of the city for having such...

What is your ABRP workflow for long trips?

Coming from Tahoe to San Francisco (Daly City actually), even though the 8 Gbyte eMMC problem was wreaking havoc and caused the touch screen to crash twice, I was impressed by this. It took the NAV 20 minutes to conclude that I would NOT need to charge enroute due to regenerative braking and...

Hostility to the transition to EVs?

At least in the USA, a Model 3 starts off at the average price paid for a new car. They do? Asking not arguing. I've life time free supercharging so I am curious. Yeah, but most people have a place to park their car so eventually the people who own parking spots will be incented / compelled...

    Porsche Taycan Vs Model S

Enjoy your purchase. Saw one yesterday at the fast chargers next to the Harris Ranch supercharger and it looked amazing. But as a 2015 S owner and I (2017 owner) commiserated on Saturday at another supercharger, as horrible as the experience with older Teslas has become, we don't see a...

    Phantom braking fixed?

Phantom braking on surface streets started in July 2021 when I got the FSD computer upgrade and traffic signal awareness enabled. This was originally only when drive by parked cars. An annoyance but predictable and thus easily avoidable. On April 3, for the first time, phantom braking on an...
