    Ioniq 5 road trip impressions

I agree, my neighbor has a KIA electric which I drove. Ride is far better than my MY, but hat doesn't take much. The ride in the 2021 MY is about the same as my old 2008 jeep wrangler which was pretty bad. The KIA has too many buttons, although I would like a few more in the Y. I prefer a door...

To go ELECTRIC or not? That is the question...

Since only use about 65% of the max range is used when on the road I would like to see about 400+ miles max range and more charger locations. 400 miles max at hwy speed would probably reduce to about actual 320 miles and 65% is about 208 miles between stops. Although that would likely mean...

To go ELECTRIC or not? That is the question...

My problem with EV's has to do with number 5 on road trips. It's more a personal thing, but I find traveling in my 2021 MYLR is a bit of a PITA. I equate it to traveling when the speed limit was 55 MPH, while you might arrive more relaxed most people I knew hated the extra time it took to get...

What is your favorite all-round vehicle you've owned?

I enjoyed my Jeep Wrangler SAHARA 4 DOOR. Terrible ride, only slightly worst than my 2021 MY, but it could handle any chuck hole as long as your back and teeth could handle it. Also got poor mileage. I drove it for 13 years w/o trouble until I finally traded it for the MY. If I had to do it...

Day 1 nightmare with model y Not able to charge

I generally don't take my MY on road trips just because of the charging. While Tesla supercharger infrastructure is the best around it is still insufficient when coupled with lack of range in my opinion . I believe it will be 10-15 years before gets really solid. In the mean time it's a really...

Official Tesla App for Apple Watch?

I've been having some problems like that with my iPhone 13 pro. Perhaps starting last spring, sometimes need to get the phone out of my pocket and bring the app up. It was open in background just not up front. Hard to know if it was a Tesla software change or something with the phone. Now it...

Does anyone have problems with their Y not unlocking when you approach. I have my ap open on Background, but car won’t open for several attempts

Yes, I have problems from time to time. Phone no longer works well in the back pocket nor all the time in rain coat pocket. Most annoying when it's raining out. Could be a phone issue as I changed phones about a year and a half ago. I now have an iPhone 13 Pro. I don't think I ever had a...

    Windshield Wipers

I'll be glad if they can improve the auto wipers I don't mind them not coming on a fast as they should as I can push the button and they seem to wake up. What I can't tolerate is coming on when there is no rain or moisture; It happens way too frequently. I can understand some of the issues like...

Will Tesla Buildup Superchargers to Accommodate Anticipated Demand from Ford, GM, Rivian, and whoever else, Adopting NACS circa 2024/2025?

I think they will get behind the curve. It's time consuming and expensive to build SC locations, plus the time needed to negotiate an agreement with the property owners needed to install them. With that said It may be a year or two before Tesla owners notice much difference, which depends how...

Efficiency Explained For A 1st Timer

After two years of ownership I still don't feel comfortable taking my MY on long trips. When I check route planners I come away thinking that's way too much trouble. I don't want to go below 20% ( 1/4 tank in my gas car) and since you don't charge over 80% on the road unless you want to be there...

What iPhone case fits Tesla wireless charger?

Not sure if this will be the same. I have a iPhone 13 Pro and use an Otterbox Commuter and it charges fine. Not sure how much the camera on yours sticks out compared to mine.

Are you paying for premium connectivity?

My free year ended July 2022 so I've been w/o since. While it's not a lot of money it does't seem to offer much. I don't play games, generally didn't use live view as felt map was too busy, and I preferred streaming XM from my phone. Also I drive almost exclusively around town as I personally...

MAR2023: My Experience Driving 1,367mi Down Into California and Back

Regarding the original post, I agree with the post. For me EV's are really not great for some road trips. Generally I'm trying to get to a destination and not a big fane of the extra time trips take with charging stops. I know for some it's no problem and that's fine; everyone is different. I...

Are you paying for premium connectivity?

I had it free for a year, but did not buy it once that free service was over. I found in that year I did not use satellite view while driving as I found it to be too busy and I did not use the music options provided. I stream XM from my phone, since I pay for xm in another vehicle the phone...

    Driving safety - backing/parking

Tesla is way behind regarding safety warnings, although front warning seems to work very well. It indicates how many inches away from an object the car is.

Is Tesla Y better than other all electric SUVs?

I agree for general use particularly around town and for some trips there are great. Also I do love waking up to a full tank on electrons in the morning. One big advantage to the Tesla for me was the options for home charging. I had a 240v 20A circuit in my detached garage for a saw and it...

Is Tesla Y better than other all electric SUVs?

That's pretty good range; I don't get that on my MYLR. I recently took a trip 111 miles one way the first 70 on interstate the rest on highway. The interstate had construction so average speed was probable more like 60 mph, never went over 70. Highway was 55 mph, which was never exceeded. I...

Road trip range anxiety is still a thing?

I'm not disagreeing with what is being said here, but for me all the above are some of the reasons after owning my MY for just over a year I consider it a great around the town car, but not a road trip vehicle. More power to the those who like it and make it work, but for me it's a PITA. I don't...

Tesla App V4.12.0 Adds Tire Pressure

Perhaps the car does it and my tire pressure has not gone down enough to trigger an alarm, but what would be nice is just getting an alert when tire pressure drops below a given level. Even my old 2008 jeep wrangler had that feature.

Driving Range less than expected with new MY-LR

That's true if you drive interstates, but get off the beaten path and it's a different ballgame. That's when I drive and ice vehicle.

Is leaving Tesla plugged in while not charging really beneficial?

I agree, The important thing is don't let the battery run totally down so if you don't drive often and might forget to charge it's better to keep it plugged in at home. I'm retired and don't need to charge daily. I charge every 2-3 days to 80% and wait until I'm down between 40-55% before...

    Dear Tesla UI designer,

I agree, also drop down menu selections should stay visible for longer so those of us who are not quick with steady fingers can make a selection before its disappears.

Why does Tesla suspension suck so bad?

I have a MYLR since June 2021 and the ride while a bit bumpy is ok for me. However, I came from driving a 2008 Jeep wrangler unlimited for 13 years so my bar is fairly low. Our other vehicle is a 2019 highlander that rides much better. It has a much longer wheel base, non low profile tires and...

New Official Tesla Model Y trunk storage bins

Window issue-not auto closing after being auto opened for cold weather

I thought I read that when temperatures were below a center level the windows cracked open so they wouldn't freeze to the top weather strip, perhaps I'm mistaken about that.

Window issue-not auto closing after being auto opened for cold weather

I have a 2021 MYLR. A number of times I leave the garage and once getting to 40 MPH I notice road noise. Checking I find the rear windows are cracked about 1/4 inch or so. I assume they were auto opened because overnight temperature dropped. It doesn't happen every time there is low temp...

Can the fonts be made larger on the touch screen model Y? Seems like speed limit is smaller now 😥

They also need to enlarge the size of some selection buttons that pop up and the time they stay visible. When I need to set the wipers by a quick push of the button the selection options show up on the screen but are small and by the time I can focus and get my finger moving to the selection I...

    Blocked pillar camera alerts

I also have the pillar camera issue. Sometimes from moisture and sometimes from sun. The other camera that doesn’t work well is the one for the auto wiper.

My windshield wipers are autoing unnecessarily !

Mine also come on with no rain plus sometimes don't come on in a light drizzle. Had to switch them from auto to manual. They have only been around for 20+ years; you would think they could get it right. Perhaps camera control doesn't work well for everything.

    Reports of upcoming V11 fixes?

I agree, if they would provide the ability to add many of the functions like seat heaters, defrost wipers as icons it would be great. They could be added and removed by season. I'd also like the icons to be a bit larger and allow more of them to be displayed at a time. They have the space.

    S3XY buttons at Abstract Ocean

They aren't the best looking but I do like some of the direct functions. Interior lights, rear seat heaters, glove box maybe and wipers if they had it would be for me the most useful. It's a function that does not work correctly at least in my MY.

Holiday Update (2021.44.25.2)- A Big Disappointment

For me wipers are still a problem. I had left them on auto and while they didn't always come on right away or at the correct speed it was not good but ok. However they also came on a number of times when they was no rain and the windshield was dry. Since I didn't want to get my windshield...

    2021 Model Y a Wireless charger problem

Just for info, I just got a iPhone 13 Pro yesterday and it seems to charge just fine in my 20921 MYLR with the newer console. It works w/o a case and with a Otterbox Commuter case installed.

Blind spot monitor on newest update?

The cameras are somewhat wide angle, which make objects look smaller and further away. I found the same issue when I pull out to pass. So I continue to use mirrors and look over my shoulder as I think the Blind Spot Monitoring system is pretty useless. Fortunately after 59 years of driving...

Holiday Update (2021.44.25.2)- A Big Disappointment

As I stated, I'm not sure that is true. I unplugged my WiFi cable going to my detached garage but still got an upgrade. When I check for Wi Fi with a phone app with the cable disconnected I get a notice indicating no WIFI is detected. So unsure how it got upgraded.

Driving ICE car forgot to shut off engine

I left a retail car running with A/C on at the parking lot in Durango Co while riding the train to Silverton. At least I had locked the car. 7 1/2 hours later I returned and the car was still running. Luckily I had fill the gas because it was down about 1/2 tank..

Do you drive on the Chill vs Standard mode?

I tried Chill mode once. While some may like it; I felt It it was like driving a 1950's Chev with a Power Glide transmission. You stepped on the throttle and waited for something to happen. I immediately when back to Standard mode. If you like it use, good that it's an option.

Holiday Update (2021.44.25.2)- A Big Disappointment

Perhaps Tesla should make the software upgrades like those from computer companies. On my MAC OS I can and do elect to not upgrade right away; I have the option. I sometimes wait 6mo to a year so I can avoid the initial bugs, waiting until they are fixed. That way the car stays the way it was...

Holiday Update (2021.44.25.2)- A Big Disappointment

I'm not a fan of most of the changes made. I agree that allowing functions to be added the the bottom bar on the screen would fix many of the problems. Personally, perhaps because of age, I would like larger fonts, selection boxes and the Icons at the bottom of the screen. For instance the...

Blind spot image needs to be larger and more toward center of screen, its present location is obstructed by steering wheel.

Some may like it, but I don't fine the Blind Spot Monitor to be very useful. It forces me to take my eyes off the road too long to view the screen to see what's going on and I fine the image is a bit misleading as vehicles seen in the camera view look further away than they really are. That's...

    Holiday Update

I finally drove my Y forth first time since the upgrade and all I can say is WHY! Do they sit around trying to figure out how to make features less convenient? About the only positive is the Blind Spot Monitoring, which is probably the best that could be done after blowing the originally...

Holiday Update (2021.44.25.2)- A Big Disappointment

Unfortunately I updated before reading this. Haven't driven since the upgrade, but from what I'm reading here it sounds like a big step backward. I haven't heard anything that out ways the negatives at least for me. I'm not in a big hurry to experience it. They seem to have made a number of...
