B-roll Autosteer footage (Can you help us out?)

Hi folks, As you know, I run Transportevolved.com and we do a weekly news show called TEN (If you haven't yet seen it, you can do so at our website or on our your YouTube channel). With version 7.0 and auto steer being the big news item this week, we're opening the show with it, but because...

    Kevin Sharpe's decreased Roadster range

I've kept my nose out of this one to be honest, but I find it curious that it appears Kevin is using EPA figures when stating original range (245 miles) That's based on an economy figure of 21.7 kWh per 100 miles. Regardless of whether you believe EPA range figures are indicative of real-world...

Alternative Energy Racing in the UK

Not sure, but the times usually appear on the AEracing website :) Alternative Energy Racing I'm gutted I couldn't go this year. I'd planned to race my leaf, but after arriving back from Israel on the Thursday, and with another event booked for the family over the weekend we decided it was...

    1985 VW CityStromer (factory-built EV)

Got it in one, although VW only paid me what I paid to buy it in the first place. And let me tell you, that wasn't anywhere near the deposit for my Leaf ;)

    Transport Evolved

Wow. Managed to cause some sore folks this week! Eberhard - Yes, I was referring to him. Excellent engineer, did a lot to get Tesla off the ground, shouldn't have ever left Tesla the way he was forced to... but not an auto-insider. No, don't have it in for Tesla. I think the Roadster is...

Ouch. Do you not like the bookcase, or the tiny studio we record in? ;) Would love a larger room, but that isn't going to happen. Sorry.

    Transport Evolved

It was U.S. -- and that equates to 75 Imperial MPG... :) When writing on U.S. sites, I use U.S . MPG. Also David, I think you'll find on several occasions that I've pointed out that the trip wasn't the best possible for myself or anyone else. But I needed to get home, there was heavy...

    RSVP for pre-Tesla event meet-up

Ack! We've finally got our itteneray -- and Tesla has something planned for the International press that afternoon, so I won't be coming, sadly. Although it would be nice perhaps to do breakfast on the Sunday morning if anyone's interested -- ping me Nikki at littlecollie dot com if you're...

    Transport Evolved

Hey folks, Thanks for the feedback to the show. I think perhaps it's a good idea to put my two pence into this. Yes, part of my role in the show was a devil's advocate, however, while I do my own long-distance EV trips I do them knowing full well what could happen if my own calculations...

    Nissan Leaf

Just to jump in here and let you all know MY side of the fast charger fiasco. I've used rapid level 3 chargers now 11 times since getting my Leaf (which now has 2,100 miles on it after 3 weeks) But when doing a long distance trip last week I found two of the fast chargers didn't want to work...

    Transport Evolved

Sorry for the out-of sync video with last week's expisode, and Michael's poor audio. We had several technical glitches during the show last week which prevented it from being a 'one'take - so part of the audio had to be recaptured from our video stream. This is hardly perfect and required a...

    Roadster Conversion to J1772 Charging

Andrew, What I mean is - will the Tesla RFMC-J work with a Nissan LEAF to charge it at 16A? : ) I know Tom says it SHOULD - but has anyone tested it? Perhaps Tom or someone else could check? If so, I want one....... Nikki.

    Roadster Conversion to J1772 Charging

Insane! David, do let me know where you saw all these because I'd like to know. I'm also really interested in the cable: does this mean I could get something similar knocked up for my LEAf, I wonder? Of course, that would require spoofing the EVSE...

BBC FUD Fest: Mini-E London to Edinburgh

Here's my story on David's fantastic trip over at Allcarselectric. I wish I had been able to go (Rachel Konrad asked me to drive it earlier this week after I hinted someone should) but sadly I wasn't free due to my wife's work commitments :( Well done David! I can't wait to see this...

    Transport Evolved

Hi Andrew, Sadly I haven't been getting the emails. (Looking into why now) - and I'm also listening to a show now to see if I can replicate the issues. No-one else has complained, but that doesn't mean the problem isn't presenting elsewhere. Can you give me some episode numbers and times...

    3-wheeled transport evolved

Thanks for the support everyone. I know the show isn't to everyone's tastes. We do try hard though, and keep the technology fairly light (for consumers more than anything else) As for the three-phase AC motor start? Yes, I could have explained it... Regards N

    Smart EV (or ED)

About ten months ago I was lucky enough to be given a Smart ED for a half day. It was fairly fun around town but dismal everywhere else. We've actually got a Smart CDI which gets 88 mpg on a small 700 cc engine, so I'm used to the Smart feel. Sadly, the electric version felt woefully...

    1985 VW CityStromer (factory-built EV)

I'm selling my 1985 Volkswagen VW CityStromer. It was built by VW as one of only two right hand drive versions of the CityStromer ever made and imported to the UK. About 500 left-hand drive versions were sold, I believe. Five seats, three door hatchback. Great Mk II VW Golf body and still on...

    City-EL on Fire

Hmmmm... Looks to me like the lithium ion batteries went into thermal runaway. I had a City El which was converted to run on Lithium ion and it was just fine - but I did have to install a complex battery management system to get it to behave. Looking at the pictures of the battery box...
