Model 3 Performance Changed 20" OEM Wheels to 19" OEM Wheels - The Economics and the Pros & Cons

@tm1v2 -- Thanks for the kind words. Wheels are 19x8.5" Martians shod with 245/40 Michelin PS4 tires. The M3P feels surprisingly nimble for a 4000+ pound car, but is clearly not my choice for track duty. My Exige weighs in @ 2190 wet w/o me. Added a new track toy to the stable just...

Model 3 Performance Changed 20" OEM Wheels to 19" OEM Wheels - The Economics and the Pros & Cons

I went with forged 19" wheels to replace the stock 20's on my M3P and feel it was a win--win proposition. I don't believe aesthetics suffered at all and both ride quality and wheel protection was enhanced. Stock vs after market wheel swap photos....

As for a spare, I went with the Modern Spare-complete kit......https://modernspare.com/product/2017-2022-tesla-model-3-spare-tire-kit-options The complete kit includes everything you would need to change a tire if you have this unfortunate event occur again in a remote area. I also changed out...

    Plaid Crash

Brakes can get toasty running the East 2.1 (aka East "A") configuration, especially for a car which can reach some high speeds. Here's a video of my car running that config.....does not come close to reaching Plaid terminal speeds and has a better brake setup than the Tesla.....Plaid is going...

You are correct, the Instagram account belongs to the individual who was actually driving the Plaid when the incident occurred, not the owner of the car. The driver is an experienced "trackster". ;)

Custom....it's all "plastic".....relatively inexpensive (read.. cheap Chinese stuff), Sides are matte black and center is matte "hydro-dipped" carbon fibre pattern. I wanted something understated that wouldn't compromise front clearance and would also complement an upcoming very modest rear...

    Martian wheels

UPDATE: Contrary to all the naysayers, I still like my Martians. Downsized from my stock 20" Performance wheels to Martian 19" wheels to save weight and give me a little more sidewall to protect against potholes. My 19" Martians weighed in at ~22 lbs including TPMS sensors and balancing...

    Vendor Top Shelf - Vorsteiner | NOVITEC | BBS | RAYS | KW | H&R | Brembo | AP Racing | MORE

Just wanted to give Danny some kudos. Recently purchased some KW V3 coilovers and spacers from Model+ and Danny was very helpful, provided me with excellent setup advice relating to ride height and was most generous with his time. I totally agree with Bo5ibbs assesment of Danny and could not...

My 2021 M3P slow upgrade [mod] documentation.

According to KW, the valving of their Tesla V3 shocks can handle an increase in spring rate up to 200 lbs/in or ~ 4kg/mm. I was also told the stock V3 spring rates are ~8kg/mm front and the rear spring is progressive (don't have numbers for the rate range). For comparison purposes, my...

Martian Wheels MW03 - New discussion thread

I made those--wrapped the Martian center cap with matte black wrap and added the red Tesla logo. However, I have been told that the Martians will accept the Tesla OEM black or grey center caps. Also, there are aftermarket vendors that sell center cap kits (which include lug bolt caps) for the...

Martian Wheels MW03 - New discussion thread

I really haven't noticed any difference in road noise, but you would think the foam has to have some effect. I went with Gunmetal for some "gloss" (depending upon the lighting) -- you can't go wrong either way. What size wheel are you running currently? A few photos of the wheels after...

Comparison of Model 3 Performance w/ the Two Versions of MPP Coilovers and the Standard off the shelf KW-V3

What's the fun in that. :D. I may even do a back-to-back test....sort of the equivalent of my A/B tests back when I was really into audio equipment..... you know, audio research tube amps/preamps, magneplanar speakers, etc. I have also had pretty good luck selling my used "stuff" -- of...

Comparison of Model 3 Performance w/ the Two Versions of MPP Coilovers and the Standard off the shelf KW-V3

MPP is a great outfit that sells great products, and a Company I have put my trust in. Had MPP camber arms installed along with the coils. I went with the "OTS" KW V3 car specific coils for the M3P solely because I am the impatient type, could not wait the 6-8 weeks. 😎 I may have scored some...

Comparison of Model 3 Performance w/ the Two Versions of MPP Coilovers and the Standard off the shelf KW-V3

Had the "OTS" KW V3s installed on my M3P yesterday. My experience with them over their first 60 mile breakin drive has been great. Tried them on rough roads and smooth pavement -- they handled the mixed terrain well. Much better car control characteristics than stock, definitely more...

Comparison of Model 3 Performance w/ the Two Versions of MPP Coilovers and the Standard off the shelf KW-V3

Mash, I was told by the KW factory rep that the valving on their "off-the-shelf" V3's can handle springs that are up to 200 lbs stiffer or softer. Obviously, you would use different settings for rebound and compression on the dampers to control the springs.

Blue Plaid - Paint the calipers or not?

Looking good--- black titanium lug nuts needed. :) Also, it would be easy to modify the wheel center caps with wrap and a yellow tesla logo, just a thought. An example of a Martian wheel center cap modded.....

12V battery replacement [by tesla mobile service]

I had the same positive experience with Tesla Mobile Service. Came out to the garage and found that the 12V battery died on my 2018 M3P--I don't recall seeing any warnings. I used the App to request service, App made an appointment for a month out, that's not going to work. I called the...

Comparison of Model 3 Performance w/ the Two Versions of MPP Coilovers and the Standard off the shelf KW-V3

Going down the rabbit-hole in trying to make a decision amongst the 3 versions of KW-Variant 3 setups for my M3P. We have 2 MPP versions (Comfort and Sport) and then there is KW's "off the shelf" double adjustable coilover set--Part #: 35287007. In my attempt to do appropriate research, I...

M3P - Who switched from a (true) sports car?

I love my M3P for daily driving/cruising. I would never equate it to a true sports car. Had many a performance/"true" sports car in the past (both P-cars, F-cars etc.), and then got into tracking/club racing. Once you hit the track with a dedicated track car, you soon realize "street" sports...

    FS(Los Angeles): 19" Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Tires--virtually NEW

Set of 19" 235/40x19" Pilot Sport 4S tires-- less than 300 miles on them -- tread depth ~ 9/32nds. These are "fresh tires" -- production dates range from 52/20 to 12/21 (first number refers to the week of production). My tire shop messed up the tire order (wanted Cups not 4S tires) and...
