Model Y Review by a Hater

Best laugh I've had all day!

Picking up first Tesla in January (Model Y) - What are some things I should know/buy/set up?

This is really good info, but what a hassle! I have had two flat tires as well and found all three of us in the Tesla waiting room have had flat tires (the other two people weren't even there for tires). Before this my last flat tire was about 1990. This is a rather big issue I rarely see addressed.

Tesla Model Y - Things You Should Know!

I am enjoying my Tesla a lot more since my electrician son installed a charger in my garage. He was able to get the wiring from a surplus center so it cut down the cost (wire is very expensive right now). SO much better than sitting at the charging station every Sunday morning!

Picking up first Tesla in January (Model Y) - What are some things I should know/buy/set up?

This may sound crazy to some, but as a woman of a certain age the angle of the windshield is a real problem. On my morning commute I drive into the sun, then into the sun again going home. I try to keep my face out of the UV. I got the strongest tint with UV coating possible on the windsheild...

Wheel Tire Combination To Improve Efficiency

I don't understand... 21 would have less damage from pothole than 18? I've already had two flat tires in 18 months and I'd really like to get a tire that is a little sturdier. BTW, as I was sitting in the Tesla waiting area the two people waiting with me had both had flat tires in the past...

Car wouldn't start (failed 12v battery). Tesla had it towed to service center w/tow damage to front bumper.

As another note, it's always a good idea to take photos of your car before someone tows, or even works on it. Standing in front take 1 front and drivers side; then standing in back take back and passenger side photo. Be sure to crouch low so you get the bottom of the bumpers. (Especially do this...

Car wouldn't start (failed 12v battery). Tesla had it towed to service center w/tow damage to front bumper.

So Geico would handle it as a "nonchargeable" collision claim and you would have to pay whatever your deductible is? I think almost any auto insurance company would handle this the same way. (I'm a Mercury agent in CA.) If the tow company would not repair the solution would be to put it through...

    Disabled Touch Screen

I'm having that problem and would REALLY like to know the solution. But the link provided is no longer available. :( Can anyone tell me where to get help without having to take my car in?

Is my Model Y Performance normal?

"Keeping the car "on" with sentry mode uses power. " !! GOOD to know! Thank you! I suppose I should do a search and see if there's a thread here about how to save battery power--other than slowing down which is no fun at all!

    Nice frunk/trunk organizer option

I use my Y frunk ALL the time. I keep a rolling cooler bag (12x10x36--fits perfectly) in the frunk when I go to Trader Joes so I don't have to lose all the cool air opening the back. I just wish I didn't have to confirm all the time when opening the frunk. Is it possible to remove that reminder?

Model S: Frustrating experience with Tesla Roadside Assistance

Okay guys, I am a 68 year old woman from Southern Cal & was visiting during what turned out to be a very rainy weekend in OAKLAND (not a familiar or comfortable place for me). If I was at home maybe I would have handled things differently. I didn't actually expect the tow service to take the car...

    Dear Tesla UI designer,

Omigoodness--it's computer screen! Why on earth would they not enable font size changes? That would make things so much easier. Guess we have to wait for EM to get near-sighted.

New Tesla Model 3 extended range locked me out, Tesla refused to help

Eventually the lack of support is going to catch up to Tesla. At least that's my hope. I was going to get Tesla solar panels but after my experiences with the Y and the company non-service ethos I've decided to go with SunRun.

New Tesla Model 3 extended range locked me out, Tesla refused to help

That is really good advice. Wish I'd read it before I bought my Y last year. I do have computer experience, but I'm over 62 so the neurons get dimmer everyday. The gas savings is nice, but if I have to take a long trip I will rent a car.

Model S: Frustrating experience with Tesla Roadside Assistance

24/7 roadside--bleah! I got a flat tire on my Y in Oakland and they just flat-bedded it away to the Tesla service center in Berkeley where they did NOT have a tire sized for a Y! Had to pay for an extra night at the hotel and get started on the road a lot later than I would have preferred when...

Solar planning considerations - Solar Roof, new roof+solar, Tesla or ?

Well, the companies usually want trees trimmed back 5-10 ft from the house. There are different requirements and it does depend on the fire hazard rating in your area. Most companies don't go out and inspect all that often, but if you get a new policy in CA they will go by and inspect outside...

Solar planning considerations - Solar Roof, new roof+solar, Tesla or ?

Sorry a bit off-topic, but as an Insurance agent I'm a bit concerned about the trees in your photo. If you are anywhere is CA eventually you will probably get a notice from your Homeowners company that you need to drastically trim or cut down your trees due to fire hazard. Just sayin...
