Go with the authorized Tesla Body Shop. The only delay is usually with the parts. You can also follow up with Tesla yourself to track the deliveries of parts. Body Shop usually does not start any work until all the parts arrive.
Hi, I went with my own Tesla Insurance and they were very quick to approve the damage. The total cost of damage was around 12k. I got my car back in a month. I paid my deductible and I will get it back once everything is resolved. At-fault party has accepted the responsibility thanks to the...
Not sure how my insurance will settle this. I talked with my Tesla Insurance and they said that rates shouldn’t increase since it was not my fault and I have video of the accident too. However, it will be decided after all the claims are settled regardless of how they do it.
In California, it is not allowed to file a DV claim against your own insurance. Having said that, I wouldn’t want to jeopardize the relationship with my insurance even if it was allowed 😀
Why don’t you take it to a Tesla Certified Body Shop? That may be quicker and you wouldn’t have to wait till July to start the repair process. You can find the Tesla Certified Body shops here Body Shop Support
Update: I just learned from my Tesla Adjuster that the person who rear-ended my vehicle has a minimum coverage of only $5000. It's good that I went through my insurance to cover the repair costs of around $12000. However, this means that I won't be able to file the claim for Diminished Value...
I was able to get a Tesla Model S 75D for the rental. For some reason, I don’t really like Model S as compared to my Model Y. Maybe because the Model S that I got is an older model 😀.
No, I was not told anything of that sort. Talk to your insurance company and let them take care of everything and then they can bill it to the at-fault insurance. You may have to pay deductible now but it will be reimbursed later.
I totally get it. I even had a ceramic coating done to my car a day prior and then this rear end collision happened. Some things are not in our control. I’m just glad that everyone is safe.
Thanks for providing the details. I have added the photos as well. Was your damage similar or less or more?
Also, did you get a loaner vehicle while your car was being repaired?
Thanks for the information. The at-fault driver has a different insurance. I have a Tesla insurance and I hope that they will agree with whatever the Tesla Service Center says about the repair cost. From what I understand from other replies to this post, the Tesla Insurance will ask the at-fault...
Does anyone know about filing diminished value claim incase the vehicle is not a total loss? I’m thinking of getting an attorney. Does that seem like a good idea since I’m pretty new to all of this?
As compared to the Model Ys listed on the site, the rear lift gate of my car is bent pretty bad. :-(
What happens in case of a total loss? Who decides that? Is it the service center and the tesla insurance guys?
Thanks for the reply. My insurance coverage is pretty good however I hope that the other party at fault will have to use their insurance to cover the expenses.
Service center is closed for the next two days and it feels really bad to see my new car damaged like this. I had just gotten a ceramic...
My 2021 Tesla Model Y got rear ended pretty bad by a Chevy Silverado. The trunk and bumper are completely damaged and the trunk won’t even close. The other person was at fault and I have the footage from all the cams saved as well. The other person shared their insurance for filing the claim...
