Public Charging Etiquette - Unplugging Teslas from J1772s

I understand if it's some remote place like Saskatchewan then you probably need a charge as bad as I do. Just FYI though if your Tesla is plugged into the ONLY working L2 charger at the Outlet mall in Marysville that I have to use to charge my Leaf or I don't make it home because the ONLY fast...

    General Discussion: 2018 Investor Roundtable

Tesla has to transport cars from Fremont to just outside of San Francisco to ship by sea? I'm not familiar with the area but just looking at the map it looks very inconvenient logistically. Seems like a bottleneck in need of some boring. (Or are they being delivered locally?) Also looking at...

Oh duh! Thanks. I don't know how I missed that. I love that guy's enthusiasm, but he's a bit of a hyperbull like some people I won't name. Also, he thinks crypto is totally the future... I am in the same situation. I went without a car for a year and found I really didn't need one at all...

    General Discussion: 2018 Investor Roundtable

I don't think the stock will do anything on Monday, since it is President's day and the stock market (in the US) will be closed. </sarcasm> I can't figure out how to vote on Elon's compensation package, probably because I have the world's worst broker - Capital One Investing. Luckily they are...

    Alcohol OK on Touch Screen?

I used to work on handheld scanners/computers and we cleaned touch screens with isopropyl alcohol all the time. It was some industrial stuff so not sure if it was 70% or purer, but the store bought stuff should be fine. You'd be shocked how often they came in with blue ink pen marks on the...

    2017 Investor Roundtable:General Discussion

My guess is that it has something to do with the little ads at the top of every page and the effect on them of constant page refreshes when people want to argue. Same reason I predicted Facebook would show increased revenue after the BLM and Confederate flag debates. Same reason Google news is...

Where would you live if you could?

I go back and forth between wanting to get away from it all, and wanting to be in the middle of everything. If money was no object I'd have to say either a small traditional village in Bavaria or Switzerland or a sleek modern condo in downtown Vancouver BC. The land of soft pretzels and good...

POLL: If the GOP tax reform kills the $7500 tax credit, will you still buy?

Why should someone without children help pay for another family's per-child tax credit? Why should a renter help subsidize a richer person's home through mtge interest credits? I would love it if my tax bill contained a poll where I could pick and choose which taxes I wanted to pay for, but...

POLL: If the GOP tax reform kills the $7500 tax credit, will you still buy?

I don't make enough to take advantage of it much anyway. It would have been used to offset taxes on stock gains, but that ain't happening right now either. I'll wait patiently for everything to get debugged and TSLA to go a lot higher. By then I might even consider a model Y since I really...

WooHoo! IF I end up getting a M3 with my TSLA gains (rather than pay off the condo) this will be much better than Burlington which is too close to Bellingham to really be of any use to me. With the Peninsula build out that only leaves somewhere further along Hwy 20 to meet all my wishlist needs.

I don't think it was the seats that was the issue. 2004 was right around the time I was thinking of buying a Prius. It didn't seem to get much attention outside of California until it won some car of the year or other which is when I first remember hearing about hybrids, then demand went...

Why did you cancel your Model 3 reservation?

I'm in the same situation. I've thought about it and I'd rather own the machine that makes the machines - TSLA. As they grow and the sp rises it will be hard to resist cashing out to buy the M3, but if things work out the way Elon described it I might be able to pay off my mortgage instead...

Well I cancelled on Monday. I still want my M3 but it will take many years now for me to afford for personal reasons already discussed so I'm stepping out of line. I'm pulling my money out so I can put it to work. Best guess when I will buy is 2020-2022 but hopefully all the bugs are ironed...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

They could vote for another offer for the same reason Tesla engineers and execs jump ship to Apple and others - more money up front. Doubtful but possible. Maybe VW trying to polish it's green cred AND hurt Tesla? For the record I don't want the deal to go through on these terms, but I'd...

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

Long term, TSLA could be a monster. But I had it all planned out, anything above 52wk high nets me a M3 possibly in time for launch. Now I would need TSLA to hit $573. That's going to take a while.

    Short-Term TSLA Price Movements - 2016

    563 shares of SCTY x $61.72 (52 week high) = $34,748. Just about M3 minus taxes. 563 x 0.110 = 61.93 rounded cruelly down to 61 shares of TSLA 61 x $271.57 (52 week high) = $16,565.77 You TSLA folks are getting a steal. {MODERATOR DELETED UNACCEPTABLE LANGUAGE}

    SolarCity (SCTY)

I used the last of my available funds (for now) to pick up some SCTY at 6 cents above current low for the day. Actually she got in at $19 so she's going to be fine. I'll make my money back in either SCTY or TSLA eventually, I have absolutely no doubt. Being down in a stock doesn't mean you have to feel cheated or robbed or lied to, as long as you're playing the long game.

    SolarCity Bailout Analysis

Why did you cancel your Model 3 reservation?

Understood. I knew it was a gamble but I was also confident that in the long term Solarcity would succeed, and I would be rewarded with a Model 3, though maybe not by launch. I could have gotten a much smaller, safer return going the conventional route of diversified portfolio and mutual...

    SolarCity (SCTY)

Maybe WAY long term. The 52 week high for SCTY was roughly triple current sp and arguably a cash flow positive squeeze had some chance of pushing it up higher, but 52 week high for TSLA was only 50% higher than current. Put simply I would stand to make more money in the next couple of years...

Why did you cancel your Model 3 reservation?

I may have to cancel if the Tesla/Solarcity merger goes through. I'm down almost 50% in SCTY and was hoping for a short squeeze later this year or next year when they should be cash flow positive and the Riverbend factory comes online. Now I'll end up with less than 70 shares of TSLA whose 2...
