Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This seems to be a hard concept for some. Your set of circumstances are not the same for everyone else. Other people invest with a different time horizon in mind. You are, again, weirdly defensive when being asked a question. No one asked for your cost basis lol But I get it. It's a tough...

Quite the battle line at $150 the last two days.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

What changed from December ("we're quite advanced in that work") to the alleged cancellation/postponement in late Feb? That's more interesting - to me - than whether or not they changed course. And as I've said, we will likely get more details next week on the call.

Elon said in 2010 he was planning to build a $30k vehicle. $25k EVs already exist. Just not from Tesla.

    Cybertruck is a scam.

"Oh no, an outlet published a story I don't like, must be fake." If you actually read it, you will see Fred notes the various different phrases of the "scrapped" or "cancelled" or just delayed indefinitely. Elon said Reuters was lying. He did not specify which part of the story was false. And...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

So this thread is apparently only for long term investors and long term investing is apparently defined as decades long. So this specific thread is for people, what, only who are under age ~50? Your specific definition of long term is not everyone's. Probably best to keep that in mind.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

In the back half of 2023 the stock price went from ~$275 to ~$205. Share count went from over 4m to 2.6m. So she literally sold the dip. Anyway, we don't really need to argue this anymore. The evidence is out there for all to see. She's a terrible fund manager.

If she has a price target of $3k in a few years, why is she selling at all?
  17. D

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Her favorite time horizon is 5 years, yes? Price targets are always five years out and she's said that's where their goals lie. ARKK is -8.6% in the last 5 years. Do you know how hard that is to do when SPY is +72% and QQQ is +127% in that same time?

Obligatory "worst active fund of the last 3+ years."
  19. D

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Production levels don't dictate sales as demand is not there. They produced 46k more than they sold in Q1 and are up near 130k+ (depending on who's doing the calculation) cumulative inventory over the last few years.

    Near-future quarterly financial projections

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Not sure if it's been discussed, but how is Tesla planning to grow volumes in Q2 and the second half of 2024? They just ended inventory discounts and raised prices $1k on April 1st. They previously had a demand problem (supply > sales) as @Troy has noted since late 2022. Increasing price only...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I was merely pointing out this did not seem like the run of the mill, near-annual trimming of redundant positions that has happened before. You (and others) chose to run with "omg D&S is saying Tesla is in dire straits, what a moron, let's down vote him to oblivion." It's not my problem if you...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Firing 14k+ employees and two days later asking for a $47 billion comp package certainly is a choice. It's about $3.3m per fired employee, if the number is exactly 14,000.

    A $4,000 stock price - without further dilution - implies a $14tn market cap.

There are two, ya know, actual wars going on right now. A bit tone deaf to keep seeing this "wartime CEO" mumbo jumbo pop up. A little perspective is needed by some.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

When you combine this with the recent job cuts....something smells a bit fishy. Almost like they got a look at the preliminary Q1 results and it's not good. Raising prices = decreasing demand. It would appear, for the time being, they are going to try to increase margins. That's likely to come...

There are many flaws in the robotaxi models, imo. I do not think it is a "build it and they will come" type of model. I could be wrong. Several points/questions: -if a $25k robotaxi would be "worth on the order of at least $100,000" (per Elon) why would Tesla immediately take a $75k+ loss on...

Ah, yes, buying it for $44bn turning it into $10bn. "It was the previous guys!" You could argue Twitter was maybe at this current valuation in 2017. Anyway, thanks for the reply. You're always good for some much needed comedy! 😘

Not being able to maintain stability in your executive team does not imply strength.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yeah, I, uh, wouldn't use Twitter as a prime example considering Musk has run its value into the ground, around ~$10bn at last valuation, per Fidelity. Anyway, in my latest post I noted two executives left on the same day. That's highly unusual and implies this was not the usual "trimming dead...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This tweet is incredibly dumb. Troy is pointing out sales stagnating in Europe for six quarters. Mr. Ferguson is harping on one quarter. And as Troy has pointed out, Tesla has plenty of inventory. They grew inventory by 46k in Q1. The two events did nothing to slow sales. Few understand.

They've never laid off 10+% of their employees. As I noted, the 10% in 2022 never came to fruition via their 10-Q filings. These are the facts. Just because you don't like them doesn't make them incorrect.
