    Model Y heat pump issues

Many thanks to those Canadian members who notified Transport Canada. That seems to have been the tipping point to get this issue some real visibility. Apparently TC and NHTSA talk to each other, and Tesla is now dealing with NHTSA as well (discussions, no recall at this point). That got it on...

    Model Y heat pump issues

If it was a car for local use that might be reasonable. (Though one never knows where one will be going in the future.) For me, this will be a car for road trips, and I have family in Montana. Can't do it with a good conscience. And, bigger picture, I'm not sure I can trust a company that...

    Model Y heat pump issues

Tesla seems to think it is 'non-safety related'. Otherwise it would be an official NHTSA recall. Maybe NHSTA agrees - you'd think they would have heard about it by now. (Not sure how Canadian authorities view this.) Methinks some living in cold climates would disagree. Sort of drives home...

    Model Y heat pump issues

While that's good to hear, it's important to note that this issue is not a matter of a 100% failure rate. Some (most?) Tesla heat pumps have worked just fine from day one, even in terribly cold temperatures. But a surprising number don't. And according to the OP, they still fail at a...

    Model Y heat pump issues

It seems to only be an issue in very cold weather. Note that the OP here references incidents in Scandinavia as the weather is turning colder. My understanding is that it's a terrific system in more moderate temps.

    2022 Model Y LR in -55c/-67f

If you do a search here at TMC on "model y heat pump issues" or similar wording, you'll find them. I saw them beginning last year. Here's the latest: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/model-y-heat-pump-issues.250527/#post-6235781

    Model Y heat pump issues

With respect, I would hope there are lots of people happy with their heat pump equipped Teslas. Any other scenario would make us all look like lemmings. The fact remains that this issue showed up last winter. When someone brought it up (I think it was here on TMC), a string of other owners...

    Model Y heat pump issues

I'm not a Tesla owner yet, but I'm considering a Y. (So far it's a toss-up between the Y and an Ioniq 5.) I read about this issue last winter and thought it was pretty embarrassing for Tesla after all the fanfare about octovalves and 'revolutionary' heat pump technology. My research turned up...

    2022 Model Y LR in -55c/-67f

Not an owner here, but gathering info for my next EV purchase. If I was in the OP's position I would be VERY concerned about the heat pump issues with Model Ys. My understanding is that when weather gets really cold, they can just -blink- stop working. At all. No heat, no defrosting, no...

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

I would be interested in Scenario 1, but here again I see references to anywhere from 200W to 400W of system overhead while in Camp or Sentry or Dog modes. That seems to be in conflict with the owner's manual I downloaded here...

How many amps can you get from the 12V system for emergency situations?

First time poster here, don't have a Tesla yet but I'm researching my next EV. A Model Y (which I assume to be similar but not identical to a 3) is a strong contender thanks to this thread, since I live in a community that has power outages several times a year. (The Ioniq 5 / Kia EV6...
