Model Y wireless phone charger doesn't work with iPhone 13 pro max

iPhone 13 Pro Max Sep 2022 Model Y I found that turning the phone upside down and charging on the passenger side works just fine. This is with a fairly chunky case.

Tesla Energy has the worst Customer Service. Regret getting Tesla

How could you tell that a specific number of panels were underperforming?

Tesla Energy has the worst Customer Service. Regret getting Tesla

Yeah, I am looking into this right now to expand my own solar (see my other thread). Tesla is about $20K cheaper for a project that includes about 12kW of solar and 2 Powerwalls. And right now no one else has access to Powerwalls either, so if going down that path, have to go with other types...

Tesla Energy has the worst Customer Service. Regret getting Tesla

Ah cool, you have a Mitsubishi mini split. We had one at our old house, didn't use it much and then we sold the house. We have a Fujitsu we recently installed in our living room. As it heats up (NorCal), hoping it works out well for us and saves energy.

received EV -> EV2 transition letter [Discussion: CA Rate plans and PV or PV+Storage]

For some reason I find myself on E1-X with the small 2.8 kW system that I have right now. Looking to expand (See other thread)

received EV -> EV2 transition letter [Discussion: CA Rate plans and PV or PV+Storage]

This is what has happened to me. The previous owners of the house (we bought it 8 years ago) had a 2.8 kW PPA, which we re-negotiated quite well when we bought the house. Yet, we've noticed slowly but surely that thing become completely useless to us.

received EV -> EV2 transition letter [Discussion: CA Rate plans and PV or PV+Storage]

I am trying to model the economics of adding a battery or two and moving to EV-2A. Thoughts?

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Here's where I stand as of today. LG seems to have the best deal by far and I will probably go with LG. PPW (after Federal rebate): LG: $2.06 SunRun: $2.46 Earth Solar (local Bay Area company): $2.80 Tesla: $1.49 - but they won't touch my system unless I buy out my SunRun contract, in which...

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Some more details: LG: 27 panels @ 335W each = 9.045 kW Earth Solar: 22 panels @ 360W each = 7.92 kW Yet their "annual production" numbers are the same. This tells me Earth is more aggressive in their % energy generation estimation vs. LG. That is the only explanation I can think of. Is...

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

They have a GREAT reputation, but they are hesitant to take on my build which is an add-on (despite it being a totally different system we want to add on).
  11. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Correction: There was a miscalculation in the Federal rebate in the Earth Solar proposal, so now the difference is $2200 between the two.

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

So here is where I stand right now for equivalent systems from LG (Ameco would install) and "Earth Solar" - a local company, who one of my good friends used. Essentially looking at a $3400 price difference between the two (LG/Ameco is cheaper). 10,500 kWh per year generation 10kW inverter...

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

I'm wondering: Does my 125A panel deliver 125A per rail? Or is it 125A total split across the two rails?
  14. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Yeah, this makes sense. Happy that I am investigating this now and hopefully will augment with solar and be able to keep my existing 125A which doesn't seem to need being upgraded.
  15. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Yes, I have and will obtain permits for anything solar or main panel related. The Sense install was so trivial, didn't feel that I needed a permit for that.
  16. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

I needed a permit to install a Sense system? Didn't think so.
  17. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Glad to hear this as well. We have 2400 s.f. It's just that our usage has crept up to be quite high over the past 3 years since we got the Model 3. Didn't notice the 125A breaker popping, but we had some weirdness with the double ovens where they were just shutting down (no breakers popping)...

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

True, but in that case I will be at least back to 125A 'guaranteed' and can economize for that week by turning off some egregious crap like the pool (which I hate but my wife loves - no angst here I promise - NOT!). That would work for me, a 200A-250A microgrid of my own with PG&E as a...

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

So will EVERYONE be pushed to TOU in 2021/2022? I'm in Santa Clara county and I saw a schedule that says July 2021. Or will those on E1 still be grandfathered into E1 moving forward?
  20. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

The PV is in the main 125A panel. The subpanel was installed 6 years ago and is a 60A feeding just the remodeled kitchen and a bathroom. It connects back with a single FAT feeder wire across about 60 feet through the attic (one story house) to the MSP.

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Yeah, I installed it myself :). And yeah, I intended to protect the cables, but never got around to it. I probably should huh? Will take care of that when I get this stuff done. And yes, I want to leave the existing piece as UNTOUCHED as possible in the hope that it will simplify things...

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Right - we do pay 0.22c/kWh (no escalation) and have another 10 years left on the PPA.

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Thank you, the batteries are making more and more sense for these reasons and also upcoming NEM 3.0 from what I am slowly coming up to speed on (much yet to learn!)

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Thanks so much. That second meter says "SunRun" on it, no idea what it does or why it is there. I'd love to just keep the existing panel with a 125A breaker, or replace that panel with another 125A panel that is newer, in place, and not mess with PG&E if I can help it for obvious reasons. Love...

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Thanks @Vines. Here are photos of the existing service. Additionally we have a 60A sub-panel in the garage that feeds the kitchen and the master bathroom. But that's coming off the main service panel. Thanks for your advice here. Really appreciate it.
  26. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Yep. Hard enough to afford any home. If you can pay it off early, definitely better, but most people cannot afford that luxury. Still - the point of the poster is if you can "afford to" spend less, do it.
  27. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Indeed :) $10K buyout ($7K of that would be what I'd owe them anyway over the next 10 years for the PPA), so really it's a $3K robbery - not too bad. Update MSP: I suppose this is a general house upgrade (spend kid inheritance!! LOVE IT!!! ;-)). I've also been advised by a helpful person on...

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Frankly in the Bay Area, you don't back out of a house contract because of a $10K liability :). This place is completely nuts. It might be totally worth it in a sense to buyout the SunRun contract. I just need to find out a bunch of things: 1. What happens to the warranty? 2. Whether or not I...

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Tesla came back and said I'd have to own outright for them to do this job. Hopefully someone else who's local can do my add-on while I keep my existing SunRun system.
  30. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

That's true. I'll look into the 400A as well.
  31. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

I agree with you. I think safety first. Will look into the panel upgrade. Even at $10000 might be worth it.
  32. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Oh this is interesting. You're saying I can use the batteries and additional Tesla solar to draw more.amps than the 125A PG&E without updating my main service panel? If so, that would be exactly what I'm looking for. As for adding to the SunRun, TBD whether Tesla or anyone would agree to add to...

    Sunrun vs Tesla

  34. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Given the way PG&E is escalating and also given increasing loads, I think that this project probably does have value. Will look at what I find out in the next week or so and update here.
  35. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

PG&E was estimating $7000 + cost of new panel (ouch) = $10000 just to get to a 200A MSP starting point. This whole thing feels completely crazy.
  36. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Agree. Keeping the existing is the way to go.
  37. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

:) That is exactly how I have to look at it!
  38. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Hi holeydonut. Correct. Sunrun will charge me a bit less than $10000 to 'buyout' my system, in case Tesla would need me to do that in order to add theirs on - let's see. Sunrun definitely makes it more attractive to go with a monthly payment than a buyout (for their options). Tesla is a heck...
  39. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Expiration is in 10 years (previous homeowners had a 20 year PPA lease). The usage is high - perhaps I have something else going on. Getting rid of what we have will be expensive because of what another poster posted.
  40. D

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Yes, you're right. I don't think they will do anything to the old system.

Existing SunRun 2.8kWh system, want to add more from Tesla and add Powerwalls

Wanted to ask advice from folks here and also @Vines (could not figure out how to PM from here). Am looking into getting a solar system upgrade possibly with a battery and so wanted to ask for your thoughts and advice. When we bought our house in San Jose CA, 8 years ago, it already had a...
