Why is Supercharger status always wrong?

I’ve tried clicking the pin, without success. I’ll try again next time. But in any case, it is not an issue of pushing availability updates to millions of cars every time a spot opens. It involves pushing availability updates to drivers who are then using navigation to go to that specific...

    First Tesla purchase turning sour.

I bought a 2013 model S around 5 or 6 years ago. It had 24,000 miles on it. It’s now got over 60,000 miles on it. I still can get around 230 miles at full charge. I think originally it was around 260. Will it last to 140,000? Not sure, but so far so good.

Why is Supercharger status always wrong?

Every time (yes, every time) I navigate to a supercharger, the numbers of current open spaces shown for the supercharger is ALWAYS wrong. Once I arrive, then the numbers change and I see actual status showin correct number of open spaces. Today it showed a 15 minute wait time. Right up until...

    Cracked rim replacement advice sought

I got my 2013 P85+, used, a few years back, with low mileage, and haven’t had many issues (knock on wood). But now: Rear original 21“ rim cracked about a year ago maybe and had it repaired for around $200-225. It’s started slowly leaking air again and while it could be a new crack (which can...

Car reset to default settings after update?

The same thing happened to me. The fix is to just re-enter your home address as your “home” location.

Car Auto-Locks Despite Being Set Not To Do So At Home

And we have a winner . . . . It seems my “home” location had completely disappeared, so only creating a new one was needed. Thanks!

Car Auto-Locks Despite Being Set Not To Do So At Home

This problem has started happening to me, although on a model S. It happened after a recent software update, and though not 100% certain that was the cause, it seems likely or at least highly possible. I checked if the settings were correct, and they were. I turned auto lock off and on, no...

AC turns off even though Keep Climate On is set to On

Funny thing … the car started to keep the climate on in later stops, with the climate settings I had. No idea why it started acting right, but better late than never.

First Road Trip Approaching: San Diego to Tucson/Bisbee

Ok, I am back home in San Diego now. The trip to Tucson and Bisbee went great, no issues of any significance (other than a big scary wildfire across the canyon in Bisbee, but the winds were blowing in the right direction, for us at least.) On the way to Tucson the Tesla, between Gila Bend and...

First Road Trip Approaching: San Diego to Tucson/Bisbee

The guy I am visiting is an electrician. He put in a 50 amp breaker. The car charged at 32 amps, without me making any change to the settings. It charged at 22 miles per hour.

2013 Model S unlimited free supercharging - taken away - want to get back?

I am the third owner of my 2013 S P85+ I was told the car itself had lifetime free supercharging for any owner, original or subsequent. So far that’s the way it has been.

AC turns off even though Keep Climate On is set to On

I am traveling in Arizona . It is hot. When supercharging, I set the AC to a high fan speed, a low temp (61) and press Keep Climate On. then I go out to the quick stop or whatever, and when I come back, the AC is off and the temp is set to 66. What gives ? Why can’t I keep the AC on when I...

First Road Trip Approaching: San Diego to Tucson/Bisbee

Thanks. My 30 foot extension cable is rated at 50 amps. I expect that would be fine a 30 amp welder outlet, though I suppose there may be other reasons to throttle back on the amps (outlet/adaptor plugs?). And I may need to use my friend’s 100 foot extension cable, and I don’t know what it...

First Road Trip Approaching: San Diego to Tucson/Bisbee

Thanks. That was along the lines of what I was planning to do. I wasn’t really expecting to need to charge at the Airbnb, just was thinking it might be possible. I have Tesla adaptors for 14-50 and 10-30, but for the 6-50 I got one from Amazon that had many Tesla users commenting that it...

Quality at home charging, are charge ports really needed to be installed at home?

Thanks. I keep mine plugged in all the time too, as I have two charging cables and sets of adaptors. One stays in the car, though it gets little use, but will finally see action when I take my first road trip soon.

Quality at home charging, are charge ports really needed to be installed at home?

I haven’t been keeping up with new developments in this area, owing a 2013 P85+ with around 41,000 miles on it. I don’t drive much, and usually use a supercharger when I am shopping, maybe 2 or 3 times per month. When I charge at home, I use a 10-30 adaptor with the old dryer plug that is...

    Slow supercharging on a 2013 Model S

I don’t think there is anything that can be done about the throttling. I looked into this a while back, and found nothing that would make a difference. I have a 2013 P85+. It doesn’t matter what type of supercharger I go to, the max speed is always pretty much the same.

First Road Trip Approaching: San Diego to Tucson/Bisbee

I am about to venture out on my first road trip, from Sand Diego to Tucson and Bisbee in my 2013 P85+. I‘ve read up a bit, but would welcome any tips or suggestions, of any nature, regarding energy usage, charging or otherwise. In the past, when making this trip, I have always used my ICE...

    Seat Heater Selection

I am a bit less than thrilled with this situation too. I use the seat heater, but not the cabin heat. I quickly figured out how to access the seat heater button, but was pissed that it effectively requires you to turn on the cabin temperature setting to do so. So after I turn on the seat...

Charge limit setting missing under charging controls: 2014 S85 with 2021.44.25.2

Glad I found this thread. Charging my 2013 P85+ (with MCU2 upgrade) at supercharger now, and noticed there wasn’t any setting to adjust charging level. After starting supercharging, the charging screen only shows a Stop Charging button, price of Current Session ($0.00) and Supercharging Tips...

    2013 P85 Battery Issue

I can’t speak directly to your reconditioned replacement battery, but I have a 2013 P85+ with just under 40k on it. When I bought it 3 years ago I would get almost 260 miles on full charge. I think the original rating was 271. Now I get around 243. Not actual miles, that is just what it says...

Do you have to pay data for Tidal streaming or does it use phone data?

Thanks for the prompt and helpful reply. I had set successfully up free tidal account through my phone and it worked fine and I was able to play tracks. But no tidal app within Tesla, only playing from my phone through bluetooth to the Tesla. Do I have to have the paid version of tidal for it...

Do you have to pay data for Tidal streaming or does it use phone data?

I have premium connectivity in my model s. when I hit the button for music on my screen, one of the options is Tidal. When I select tidal, it shows me a QR code. When I scan this, it brings me to a login page and I set up a free account. I downloaded the tidal app to my phone and I can play...

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Scripps Poway Parkway (LIVE 9 Nov 2021, 12 V3 stalls)

I think they were inside the Vons, right next to the Wells Fargo ATM, which I understand has also been removed. More seriously, I was wondering the same thing, and looked around a but, but clearly there are only 12. Must be some sort of error or glitch. The horror, the horror . . . .

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Carmel Mountain Road (LIVE 10 May 2022, 24 V3 stalls)

So they were upset there were cars parking in the parking structure? What could their logic possibly be (beyond an irrational dislike of Teslas) ? That Tesla drivers were only there to charge, and were not also patronizing the shops and restaurants? (How would they determine this, I wonder...

    Lifetime Average Wh/mi

I haven't gone through the entire 108 pages of this thread, but I would be curious to hear what sort of Wh/m do people who live in extremely flat areas get. When I am driving straight on flat roads, it seems there is really little power usage. Of course, living in San Diego, one cannot go very...

Impact of Supercharging on Battery Life?

Thanks, this is very helpful. Just to clarify, when you say total capacity, may I assume that is in miles? So in my case it would be 260 miles. But what does charging at 1C mean exactly? Does it equate to a speed of 260 miles per hour of charging? Or is this not a function of miles, but...

Please school me on supercharging issues

I have a few questions on supercharging speed and impact on battery life. I have a 2013 S P85+ purchased used a few years ago. It has lifetime free supercharging, regardless of ownership transfer. Max charge equates to around 260 miles. But I think now it is a little less than that. I have a...

Impact of Supercharging on Battery Life?

Yes, I realized this a bit late, after I had already made my post. This thread came up as a suggested place to post my comment from the forum software, and I failed to immediately see it was related to Model Y.

I am a new member here, having only posted a handful of times. I am a little confused as to what restrictions apply to new members and when these may cease applying. Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Carmel Mountain Road (LIVE 10 May 2022, 24 V3 stalls)

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Mira Mesa Blvd (LIVE 13 Jul 2021, 16 V3 stalls)

No, nothing specific in mind. Mostly just not a fan of SDG&E, I guess. Currently charging at Qualcomm, my old stomping grounds. I saw elsewhere in the forum that two new supercharger sites are to be set up in Carmel Valley. The more the merrier, though it is pretty quiet over at the QC site...

    Hello all from SoCal

I have had a 2013 P85+ Model S for a couple years now. Bought it from a friend when he decided it no longer met the needs of his family. I think he now regrets selling it. I am the third owner, but the car itself has lifetime free supercharging and I make frequent use of it. A new...
