Try resetting the car's computer

If you put it on the side could you put it on the same side as the charging port?

I'd be bothered by this to the point I might drive to a service center and see if I could get someone to look at the car.

I would suggest she uninstall the Tesla app and reinstall it. Also have her be sure that the phone is unlocked when trying to start the car. I've had it happen to me a few times and it seemed that when my iPhone was locked it wouldn't allow access to the car.

I notice with update 22.12.3.2 that the location function on the iOS app is not as functional in my opinion. It no longer remembers the zoom setting on the map and the centering function no longer tracks. Anyone else notice this?

You might try turning off the circuit breaker that controls the charger. Wait a minute then reset it.

You might be running into interference from other BT devices. Turn off all BT devices in the vicinity of your car then turn your iPhone BT off and on again when you are in the car.

Try resetting the computer by putting the car in Park and holding down both left and right wheel/buttons at the same time until the screen goes black. The computer should reset in a few moments. See if that helps.
