My Model Y smells, does it happen to yours?

Yup, known issue. I live in a humid coastal climate, thus I need to change the cabin air filters and clean the air box twice during the summer months.

How often do you charge to 100%

I've only done it to calibrate the battery, and only once. I probably should do it again. Since the SC network is robust around here in the East, I don't need to charge to 100% for long distance travel.

Model Y won’t charge on supercharger

I have never experienced a Supercharger failure to charge except the few times an individual charging station is broken. Simply moving to another station at the same location solved the issue. I do regularly charge at Superchargers. Your issue seems to be an isolated occurrence - it almost...

Tesla sets charge limit to 90%

I set mine to 80%. I keep the car charged to 40% - 80% throughout the week for local commuting. If I go on the road, I start looking to charge at 20% SOC, and charge to 80%. Charging beyond 80% isn't worth the extra time.

    2022.40.4 Issues

I have issues with the walk up door unlock being unreliable, auto high beams acting crazy, weak regen. Seem like an OTA firmware was pushed to the car the same day I got the recall notice from Tesla about the window defect. The mobile service appointment has been changed to an in-person visit...

Model Y Performance Tires Mileage less than 16k and needing replacement

I still have 5/32" on all 4 of my tires at 37K miles on a '21 MYLR, 19" wheels. I drive fast, but don't load up the tires off the line. Always use regen. Interesting that the MYP utilizes a rear alignment scheme that causes uneven / premature wear.

    Missed update 2022.36

This was essentially my experience yesterday.

    Software updates missing

I just got served with .36.6 yesterday evening after ~45 days of no updates - a bit tardy, but not unusual.

Supercharger kwhr cost should not be based on price of gas

Nope - Supercharging fees here in Maryland have gone up 20-25% over the past few months with no rate increases approved for the public electric utility. It's Tesla testing what the market will bear with variable pricing. We should demand that they post their pricing as is required for gasoline...

    Huge supercharger price increase

The per kWh price at my local Supercharger went up to $0.43 from $0.30-0.34 per kWh. Roughly a 21% increase. There has been no increase in electricity costs locally. This is plainly a money grab by Tesla, the same as other businesses cashing in on the current economic situation. I'm hoping...

2021 Model Y Tire Options for better ride & range

I have about 22K on my ProContacts, and probably have about 10 -15K tread left. I drive fast but try to manage the torque load on the tires.

    Model Y Mud Flap Saga

I just noticed that my Tesla mud flaps did not survive the winter as both are now missing, lol.

    V11 backup camera laggy

Naw huge issue - enough time for one to back into an object, bollard, pylon or wall. Mediocrity is not acceptable in a premium vehicle, and since backup safety systems are mandated in the US, probably a recall issue if not addressed.
  16. M

    V11 backup camera laggy

The fanboys were clamoring for the Christmas release, and Elon was probably hectoring the software engineers to get the update out on time (rather than being properly tested.)

Recent heat pump failures - software issue?

The update is being offered to me this evening. I haven't had any heat pump issues. The avg outside temp has been in the upper 20F - 40F, cabin temp set to 68F, seat heat set to medium, steering wheel heat on. The regen braking however is nearly absent on cold mornings, and is reduced...

What do you do for WiFi if you live in a condo?

I have an old 802.11 g outdoor bridge mounted on my balcony railing. It could connect to the router via wifi, but I have it hard wired with ethernet. Its antenna points to my parking space, lol. Works as it is only for updates to the car, and and not too expensive in the scheme of things.

Extremely fragile top glass roof - Model Y

Nobody's talking about the poindexter kid with an obviously pointy head, lol. Seriously though, I would guess that either there was a defect in the glass at manufacture, or the installation was incorrect and was stressing the glass panel. Either way, I'd address the issue with Tesla and see...

    Model Y motion sickness

It probably the visual illusions you are picking up unconsciously because of the glass roof, along with any minor suspension quirks. Actually, getting car sick is not unusual for rear seat passengers in any car for those who are susceptible to such things. Some people will also get sick in the...

Recall: Model 3 and Model Y Front Suspension Lateral Link Inspection

I just had my recall completed yesterday. The service ticket states "Correction Replace LH and RH Front Lower Lateral Links ." The SA said that the robots were miscalibrated at some point and suspension parts were installed with improper torque values.

Recall: Model 3 and Model Y Front Suspension Lateral Link Inspection

Tesla has decided to proactively recall certain Model 3 and Model Y vehicles to inspect the bolts that secure the lateral link in the front suspension. This recall applies to certain Model 3 vehicles built between January 2019 and April 2021 and certain Model Y vehicles built between March 2020...

2021 Model Y Tire Options for better ride & range

The foam acoustic insulation pretty much says the tire is made for EVs: the specific size and insulation was spec'd for Tesla (according to other posts in this site.) The load rating has to do with the construction of the tire, the reinforcing fibers, sidewall stiffness, etc. - but not...

2021 Model Y Tire Options for better ride & range

I guess you have some research to do, this specific tire size was speced for Tesla OEM.

2021 Model Y Tire Options for better ride & range

Susceptible to road hazards (shards of metal, screws, nails, etc,) especially in urban environments. I'm hoping the Vreds are a bit thicker / resistant to punctures. The Contis are EV specific, some compromises have to be made to keep their weight within specs. Read through the forums about...

2021 Model Y Tire Options for better ride & range

I test drove a Performance Y with the big wheels, but I purchased the Y LR with 19" wheels. Noticeably smoother ride, but the tires lose traction under hard acceleration, particularly on curves. Not sure if the bigger wheels would change that dynamic as the overall diameter of both tires are...

    Phantom Braking Discussion

More fun to report on Tesla sign "reading." Yesterday, the car interpreted / read a US50 route sign as a 50mph speed limit sign The route sign was partially obscured by leafy tree branches. The speed limit in the area is 65mph. And today, the car interpreted a Do Not Enter sign as a Stop...

    Phantom Braking Discussion

That is a possible explanation; unsafe, but possible assuming that the car thinks 40 mph is an invalid speed limit on an interstate highway. Also on the return trip just prior to the 40 mph area through Cumberland, the speed limit steps down from 70 mph to 55 for cars; and 50 for trucks. As I...

    Phantom Braking Discussion

The car is 2 months old, HW3.. These were regulation white speed limit signs just like ones that are ubiquitous on interstate and other highways. The car clearly did not read multiple signs in the same area 2 days apart, going in different directions. Not sure why the car would go stupid just...

    Phantom Braking Discussion

Earlier in this discussion, a poster insisted that the car can read speed limit signs along the roadway. I just returned from my first long-ish road trip to Morgantown WV on a route that passed through Cumberland, MD on I-68. The car did not detect six speed limit signs that were clearly in...

Lol, your right! Probably still missed the window however - I doubt Tesla would violate their pretty well established policy / procedure. The point is not to delay, just respond immediately / within the allotted timeframe, and refine your arrangements later if you must. It prevents an...
