    Always carry the key card

I always carry the card in my wallet, but I tell every valet I don't have one, and park my car on my own.

Time to get a new dog.

How long until we get a 400+ mile model Y?

I get very close to those EPA figures right now. But I drive in chill mode, only go around the speed limit and never above 70 mph. It does help that I am in Florida which is mostly level and very little need for a heater. However, when I pull my 24 foot pontoon boat, I am down to about 100 miles...

CCS Adapter is Now Available in the US Tesla Store

Well, I did get routed to a broken Tesla Supercharger in Port St. Lucie Florida, so there's that

CCS Adapter is Now Available in the US Tesla Store

I just ordered mine from their online store for 250.00. So glad to see they're in stock

Survey: is the model Y the “perfect” all around EV?

To my knowledge, at least seeing the prototype, there is a retractable cover for the bed as standard equipment
  7. Gadget63

What's your next EV after Tesla?

I have a 2021 MY LR and my next car will most likely be the MX. But that's still a few years down the road as I absolutely love my MY

Motorcycle high fives my passenger mirror...

I've been riding motorcycles since 1982 (starting in NYC, and now in Florida) and I have never made a habit of lane splitting. It's just too damn dangerous.

Motorcycle high fives my passenger mirror...

Yes, he'll never do that again

somewhere around 3 to 5% loss
  11. Gadget63

How am I reducing my range - let me count the ways...

I admit I too took off my hubcaps but my range is pretty darn good. I charge to about 85-90% and my range is about 270 miles actual. True I live in Florida where the land is flat and the weather always warm and never have range anxiety. I have traveled the entire state from the keys to the...

    Heat Consistency Worse After Update

I live in Florida and have a different problem. I can keep the temperature set at 72 all day and it works just fine. But when it gets dark, and the outside temperature starts to drop, the cabin warms up as if the a/c isn't working. I have to lower the cabin temperature to around 67 to get the...

What is the one feature you would like to see added to the Model Y?

Bring back the old screen display. This new design really sucks. adjustable suspension soft close doors (I hate my wife slamming the doors constantly) seat cooling retractable roof sunshade Not a fan of carplay. Tried it and wasn't really impressed with it,
  14. Gadget63

    Low Tire Pressure Warning

I've had that problem too when the temperature drops. in 70 degree weather the tire pressure was 42, but the next morning when the temperature was in the 40's I got the same warning. If the outside temperature is expected to rise, then I wouldn't worry about it
  15. Gadget63

Model Y now unaffordable for most of us

good luck in finding a car with the supercharging network of Tesla. I travel all over without range anxiety, and my charging stops average under 30 minutes

Holiday Update (2021.44.25.2)- A Big Disappointment

While my MY was in the repair shop, they updated the software and now the screen has changed. The trip and odometer is no longer on the bottom left of the screen and apparently the only way to access it is by pressing a few buttons to bring up a separate screen. Not good! Also, when I used to...

The one thing keeping me from ordering

I'll throw the monkey wrench in the mix. I only had one car with a sunroof and never used it. Hated it. I also had one convertible and hardly ever rode with the top down. If I wanted the wind in my hair and face, I rode my Harley, otherwise give the the A/C and cranked up stereo
  19. Gadget63

You need these for your MY - I used mine today

I had my tires rotated by tesla mobile service and he told me flat out you do not need those pucks. If Tesla doesn't sell them on their online store, then they are not required. Needless to say, he rotated all four tires without pucks

Lessons learned from a 2300 mile road trip

My 17 year old grand daughter accompanied us on an 1100 mile trip throughout Florida and she sat exclusively in the back seat and never once complained of nausea. I asked her numerous times how was she doing back there and she said she was comfortable and it was roomy. It could also be she was...

    Vision Only Limitations

Also, the signs say "SPEED LIMIT", not speed suggestion. I keep a safe distance, do the speed limit and keep right except to pass.
  23. Gadget63

    Average KW/Mi

that seems about right for 70mph driving. I'm in Florida where it's mostly flat and I get close to those numbers. So depending where you live, it'll be higher or lower

thanks for the info, yeah "sounds" didn't sound right to me after I typed it.... LOL
  25. Gadget63

Do 2021 MY'S have the same crappy hitch cover?

You're right it's not, but I got tired of fighting with it. I have a Harley Davidson cover and it works for me
  26. Gadget63

Do 2021 MY'S have the same crappy hitch cover?

yes they do. I took mine off and replaced it with a generic square hitch cover

Model Y, no blind spot warning?

By not having a BSM you are forced to drive the way you were hopefully taught. Systems can fail and the flashing yellow and red light might not be working and you change lanes right into a vehicle in your blind spot.
  28. Gadget63

    Custom Horn Recordings/MP3

From what I understand, make a folder on the tesla flash drive called sounds, then copy to that folder any mp3's you have of horn sounds. then open the toybox and direct the app to the new sounds folder you made and it should work
  29. Gadget63

Model Y, no blind spot warning?

You hit the nail on the head Fred. Turn your damn head when making a turn or changing lanes. I mean, that's driver ed 101 and you needed to do that to pass your road test.
  30. Gadget63

Does the 12 volt accessory plug in the trunk area of the Y stay active if car is turned off?

We thought about bringing our 12 volt cooler on our last trip, but to be honest, our old standby ice cooler worked so well and we never had a problem finding ice.

    Tesla CHAdeMO adapter

the problem is, Tesla hasn't announced if they will even make one available in the U.S.
  32. Gadget63

Model Y, no blind spot warning?

I've been driving both professionally and for pleasure for almost 50 years now and never had a vehicle with a warning system. I drove tractor trailers cross country and didn't even have a rear view mirror and yet somehow I managed... LOL. As you stated, it all comes down to setting up your side...

    congrats! Looking good
  34. Gadget63

    Tesla CHAdeMO adapter

The CHAdeMo adapter is about 2.5 times slower than a Tesla Supercharger (usually) but it gives you another option for charging. Once the Tesla CCS charger adapter comes available, that will bring it on par with most Tesla Superchargers, but the price is roughly 600 or more for it.
  35. Gadget63

    Tesla CHAdeMO adapter

I ordered mine as soon as I got the email it was available. Even then, it still took over a week to get here.
  36. Gadget63

    Tesla CHAdeMO adapter

I just received my Tesla CHAdeMO adapter from the Tesla store and tried it out this afternoon. It's rated for up to 50 kw and it charged at 46kw. It took 31 minutes to go from 55% to 83% and it put back 86 miles on the car. All in all, I am happy with the results and it's a good addition to be...

A few things I think Tesla could have done better

You too? I thought it was only me! I think the biggest drawback in placing the screen in the center of the car is the back seat drivers are always aware of how fast you are going. ALWAYS

Help me to decide: M3 LR or MY LR

Help me to decide: M3 LR or MY LR

When I had my 2018 M3, my results were just about the same. But then again, I drive in chill mode and just do the posted speed limits. Living in Florida which is flat helps too......

Model Y, no blind spot warning?

A trick I was taught when I was a tractor trailer driver was to look 15 to 20 seconds down the road while driving. Do that, and your car will drive in the center of the lane. You will also see what's going on in front of you and have plenty of time to avoid problems.

    2021.4.18.2 on new MY

So what's the final verdict with this update? If you cover the cabin camera lens, will you lose AP functionality? I have my lens covered but as of date I still have refused to update to this version. Although it has been stated the data doesn't leave your vehicle unless you data share, if you...

Help me to decide: M3 LR or MY LR

We bought our first Tesla in 2018 and it was a M3 LR. We absolutely loved it, but it was rather low to the ground and a little hard for my wife and I to get in and out of. I'm 65 and she is 63. When the MY came out, it was a no brainer for us. It sits higher, more head room, and no problem to...

Tesla MY haters on the highways

You really should have reported it. The next person he does this to (and he will do it again) may not be so lucky.
  47. Gadget63

    Model Y over Model X

I love the room of the X, not a fan of the gull wing doors though. I also love to towing capacity, but in reality, I don't have anything to tow more than the 3500 pounds that the Y is rated for. I also can't justify 100,000 when the Y has everything I need for almost half. If in a few years...

Towing travel trailer with Model Y

another method of reducing tongue weight without spending a dime is load placement in the trailer. If you have too much weight on the tongue, move some items in the trailer such as food and clothing to just behind the rear axle to lower tongue weight. empty your holding tanks and fresh water to...

anyone else noticed navigation maps are outdated

A parkway in my neighborhood was completed two years ago and it still shows up under construction. A street was renamed two years ago and it still shows up under the old name. However, Waze is entirely up to date. I truly wish Tesla would at least allow the option of using waze

anyone else noticed navigation maps are outdated

Google maps are spotty at best. When I leave my condo and want to go left onto the two way street, google always wants me to travel 9 miles to the right, then make a u-turn to the other direction and pass my house 18 miles later. That's why whenever I am making a trip, I make sure to have WAZE...
