    Powerwall 1.0kw maximum output

I have personally not had any issues with managing under SRP's demand based plans here in AZ with a single power wall but does sound like there may be some issues with your particular one. That being said perhaps a few suggestions I would have: 1) You could perhaps look to install some sort of...

Powerwalls now available for direct order

Txt was a generic Tesla number so no inside line unfortunately. I had previously messaged from the Tesla order management page say I was open to cancelations and they said that if available they will reach out so not sure if I was selected as a result of that conversation so perhaps that is...

Powerwalls now available for direct order

Received txt yesterday (8/21) asking if they could come today (8/22) for site inspection (which agreed to). Tesla inspector came today and did a quick review (approx 25 min) and given my existing set up thinks this will be an easy instal. He’ll turn his notes in with next step being site design...

Powerwalls now available for direct order

Edited thanks to @wwhitney correction: Delivery is $200 so think installation is $2100 plus there are $200 of “parts” then there is $1500 discount. In my instance I will need about 6 ft of conduit run plus a 25A breaker in backup panel plus the existing 75A breaker in main panel likely needs to...

Powerwalls now available for direct order

$8500 + tax is cash price including installation. Hoping to get Tesla rebate of $500 if installed before 10/31 (but suspect that moge miss that date give permits, etc.)

SRP demand (kW) number is huge different with Powerwall app

I think you will want to set up the appropriate peak periods. See a couple of my prior posts on the topic.

Tesla App Utility plan configuration: Multiple Peaks, Buy/Sell Behavior, etc

Sharing resent change I made that influenced the desired behavior... I had my summer TOU set up as follows: Off peak (8pm-2pm): Buy: $0.04 Sell: $0.04 Peak (2pm-8pm) Buy: $0.25 (actual buy is $0.05 but I have demand charges to use $0.25 to simply reflect a materially higher buy cost) Sell...

Daily WiFi Disconnects post FW 22.18.3

Since upgrading to 22.18.3 on 7/5/2022 my Powerwall 2 seems to go offline just before 8pm. For the last couple of nights I have worked through the routine of re-connecting and it seems to work fine until it disconnects again the next evening. Plan to leave it disconnected tonight and see if it...

Are there heat related generation limits in inverters or other components?

My SMA inverter is outside also and was temperature de-rating last year post adding additional solar. A shade screen and some USB fans have done the trick so far this year (been well over 100 most of June and had a few days north of 110). See related thread...

Increasing Home Insurance with system installation cost?

I added value equal to what I paid to installer. That would be the effective replacement cost of system.

PSA: California Residents Homeowner Insurance "Utility Rating" savings if you re-work your load-center / HVAC

I was able to take advantage of this underwriting adjustment with State Farm for a c1905 row home I owned in Philadelphia. I got some supporting documents from prior owner who had gutted and upgraded the entire home in addition to some pictures of new service panel and State Farm rated my home...

String Set-up on Sunny Boy inverter and production behaviour?

@z'tesla, thanks for posting your experience. It would seem that while you observe some variability by string (likely to be expected) the MPP voltage optimizes quite quickly for you. However I'm seeing this optimization take some more time on certain days - like you I have some shade in the...

SRP demand (kW) number is huge different with Powerwall app

I would seriously look at the E-27 and probably the slightly better E-15 (the latter averages the daily peaks so soothes out the occasional cloudy / very hot day). To your point these plans given you access to net metering and a very low rate as long as you can load balance. I'm on the E-15 plan...

String Set-up on Sunny Boy inverter and production behaviour?

Not a Powerwall / Tesla solar question but I know there are plenty of smart folks on here who may have the answer... Anyway I have noticed that sometimes I see some variable / unexpected production by string and was wondering how much the accurate set up of strings impacts MPP optimization on...

Recent Powerewall Experience During Scheduled Grid Outage

The screen shots were just take at a time that the battery was charging (but just for a few minutes at that rate). I think it did this a few times between 10:50 and 11:24 but not continuously.

Recent Powerewall Experience During Scheduled Grid Outage

Wanted to provide some of my observations during a recent scheduled grid outage to replace some old power poles. I have a 8.43kW array connected to Sunny Boy 6.0 (6kW max output) and a single Powerwall 2 / Gateway 1 (FW 22.1.1 and iOS app v4.6.1) in a partial home backup setup. Given this my...

Utility Rate Plans Where are they?

That's exactly when the average demand plan works well. That max peak draw in one day gets averaged across all the other days with zero peak and you may end with zero demand charge. e.g. your 0.9kW from this morning averaged with 20 zero's across the rest of month (only peak days count) is...

Utility Rate Plans Where are they?

Now if you were on the average demand plan... Putting that aside I suspect there are ways to stop the solar to grid in am (e.g. could make buy and sell rates that same) but it's not likely to be material during these winter months in AZ. See the following which was referenced previously in this...

    Powerwall at South Facing Location

See related thread re shade: anyone shade their south-facing inverters from the sun? Mine is SE facing in AZ - so can regularly be in ambient temp of 110 degrees but put a share screen over inverter and Powerwall to help prevent direct sunlight impacting things and it really worked to reduce...

Tesla app version 4.0.0 has app re design for both car and energy

I completely agree with the sentiment; while the Utility Rate Plan is a huge step forward and likely allows for a lot of tailoring it can't handle all circumstances. I do however wonder whether the massive amount of standardized data that Tesla will end up with here can help influence...

Utility Rate Plans Where are they?

I wonder whether super off peak v off peak drive any difference or if the relative buy / see rates in the periods drives behavior? (I used off-peak in my set up where you used super off-peak) I also like the mid peak in the morning concept… thought about this but decided against it as would...

Utility Rate Plans Where are they?

Sharing my settings for SRP (AZ) average demand plan that’s worked as I would have hoped! These pretty much match actual plan (just set the peak buy rate artificially higher to reflect demand change to effectively prevent grid draw)
  29. S

Utility Rate Plans Where are they?

I don't want to speak to soon and cant necessarily compare to balanced (as historically used cost saving) but post utility rate plan eligibility I'm getting exactly the behavior I want: Set up plan last night broadly matching actual rate structure Powerwall did not discharge during over night...

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

Some in AZ (myself included) are already reporting this is available in AZ (see below). Seems like you need iOS app 4.2+ and firmware 21.35+ and then capability needs to be turned on for you specifically (it's not clear how / when that last part happens)...

Utility Rate Plans Where are they?

I'm Phoenix based and it appeared sometime between 4pm and 8pm local time. To extent any of this matters: TEG 1 1 * Powerwall 2 SRP as power co Firmware updated to 21.35.3 last Thursday (4th) iOS app updated to 4.2.3 last Wednesday

Utility Rate Plans Where are they?

I believe others have confirmed access to utility rate plans without 21:39 but that may be location based (perhaps 21:39 will have demand charge capabilities so those of us in AZ will need this... unlikely but we can wish) Tesla app version 4.0.0 has app re design for both car and energy
  34. S

Utility Rate Plans Where are they?

Now that you mention it I do remember some press articles earlier in the year but don't remember any official customer communication. Have not received resent bill yet so I'm sure, like you, I will find it does not match my spreadsheet!
  35. S

Tesla app version 4.0.0 has app re design for both car and energy

Does the new algorithm really take this into account or are you just protecting yourself just in case? I ask as don't think it does today as battery will discharge battery during off peak periods if it thinks it can but this does just waste 10% on inefficiency....

Utility Rate Plans Where are they?

While we're all waiting with bated breath I was wondering if anyone had put any thought into how one might deal with programming demand changes (e.g. a high per kW charge based on max grid draw in 30 min within a month)? I don't believe this is explicitly covered in standard capabilities but...

    Software v21.31.0

My order of operation (none of which may be connected) was: 1) Upgraded iOS app to 4.2.3 (from 4.3.2) on evening of 11/3. 2) TEG1 went offline from approx. 9pm ET to 10.30pm ET 11/4 (could still log onto the TEG by connecting directly but no data reporting in app and TEG appeared disconnected...

Utility Rate Plans Where are they?

I observed a very similar phenomenon today too although more extreme (battery was at 50% at 5am leaving only 20%, given my 30%, reserve to cover 5am-9am which with solar is likely enough to cover my normal usage but why cut things so fine). Might try setting a shoulder for 9am to 9pm or just...

Utility Rate Plans Where are they?

No necessarily related to this post but I too am with SRP and recently shifted from E27 to E15 (Average demand price plan) which you might want to look into. If your demand is zero it costs the same; if your demand is exactly equal every day (not realistic) then it's more expensive; if your...

Utility Rate Plans Where are they?

Completely agree - heading into dual peaks myself November 1st and would love to be able to set and forget versus having to edit twice a day (which worked fine last year just a bit of a pain). anyone shade their south-facing inverters from the sun?

That’s a nice setup! My Sunny Boy 6.0 was fine when at 80% of max DC size but now at 95%+ so pushing it a little harder. Suspect yours also benefit from free airflow around them where as mine is wall mounted…

anyone shade their south-facing inverters from the sun?

I needed to get a little more scientific so though I would share results… I added some more panels to my system which pretty much maxed out my inverter and it was beginning to have some temperature derating errors (output reduced by about 10% as internal temp was too high - see pic for detail...

16kw system only produces maximum of 11 -12kw (phoenix, AZ)

Think worth looking at PVWatts as suggested in linked thread but some real life observations from my SW facing 6.6kW array in Phoenix in 2021 (just north of airport): May is generally highest producing month (1,224 kWh); expect to produce 20%+ less in September Highest daily production was May...

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

Random question for you all with 60A SquareD Disconnects (eg DU222RB)

Yes on day of PTO they locked them (but it was sort of a last minute thing as he was leaving - "here, can you please add these" as he handed me a box with of locks and keys)

Random question for you all with 60A SquareD Disconnects (eg DU222RB)

Mine (2 of them - one for solar one for battery) both have a lock supplied by SRP (my AZ electric supplier). I have the keys but also suspect that SRP have master keys.

    Arizona Powerwall Installs

I have upgraded app and the way the interface is set up (you "add" peak and shoulder periods) I had high hopes that this would be possible but unfortunately only allowed one peak (perhaps this however create a path to a future update)
