Home charging very very very slow

Based on this comment, when you plug into outlet (not using extension cord) or wall charger, do the amps ramp up towards 12/12A or 48A and then drop back to 1/12A. If so, this seems to imply that the car is requesting normal power and then scaling back as it can't handle it. Problem is...

Home charging very very very slow

Sounds like issue could be with either with your charger or the cars on-board charger that converts AC to DC. I would try charging a public level 2 charger and see if it acts the same or try using your UMC at home from an outlet and see if you get the 3ish miles expected from an outlet.

    Thoughts on Model X

The key Love/hate issue for the Model X is the Falcon Wing Doors. If your kids are young, they can be great as they provide great access for car seats and boosters. If kids are older, then the slowness of doors opening can be annoying, especially when you have to re-open because you forgot...

The price of a used $35K Tesla S is $35K and DOES NOT qualify for the UCVC. The 11k trade in does not change the purchase price of the the car, it affects how much cash/financing you have to come up with to drive the car off the lot. The sales contract with the dealer will list the purchase...

Cybertruck Steer By Wire Safety Concerns and Details

Steer-by-wire is also currently used in trucks and buses that have rear wheel steering to control the rear wheels since it is not practical to do it via physical connection. There is redundancy: A) there are 2 motors to power the front steering, so if one malfunctions you can still steer. B)...

2024 Hyundai IONIQ 6 Rebate Undercuts Model 3 Highland By $9,000

$9K savings is clickbait. Actual savings is between 1-4K Per the article "With the incentive, the starting price of the IONIQ 6 could fall from an MSRP of $38,615 down to just $31,115." However, the lowest MSRP on Hyundai website for Ionic 6 SE RWD is $42.5K and the cheapest MSRP I see from...

    2018 Model 3 HW2.5 vs 2020 Model 3 HW3.0

Short answer, newer Tesla is usually better as it is more "future proof" as software/feature change. Currently, there should be no diff between the two cars for (EAP). The biggest difference between 2018 HW2.5 and 2018 HW3.0 is the MCU and that is only relevant for FSD. You would need to...

New Hampshire to San Diego (2023 Model Y LR)

Route planners are designed to get you from A to B the most efficiently and given that most of the cross country SC network is on freeways, that is how they will route you. You'll have more success picking sites/places you want to visit and then route plan to them. ABRP allows you to set...

Is Owning a Tesla Y Manageable in a State Without a Service Center?

TLDR - our Tesla's have been very reliable, and rarely use SC, but some issues can be fixed via Mobile service. We are 20 Miles from SC, but rarely use. Wife's 2018 M3 has only been into SC 2 times in almost 5yrs, both covered by Tesla warranty. Once for repair to upper control arm and the...

Considering a Plaid...but do you think it's "worth it"?

All 2021+ Model S are the refreshed version (Pallidium) , they stopped selling the Raven+ version in 2020. Easiest way to visually confirm is the refresh is "blacked out", no chrome around the windows, door handle or trunk and the refresh has model 3/Y style center console and horizontal...

12 hour, 712 mile road trip, should I do a month of FSD for $200??

If you can afford it I would recommend a 1 month subscription. The value for your trip is really EAP/NOA with auto lane change and freeway exit/interchanges. Not having to disengage TACC to change lanes makes highway travel much more enjoyable. I recently took a weekend trip from CT to TN and...

yes - just enroll for a month at a time when doing road trips (2-3 times a year) and then unsubscribe after trip.

Recently updated to 2023.2.10. On Friday took wife's 2018 M3 to go out for dinner and her sound on radio and streaming had stopped working. On route to restaurant, I did a soft reboot and it fixed the sound issue. Had a nice dinner and headed home. Pulled up to garage and nothing. Went to...

Tesla safety score penalizes night driving..

Insurance is a statistics game. It's not just about how you drive, but also how other drivers around you behave. Don't think of it as Tesla penalizing YOU for sudden braking, they are reducing your score because there are more drivers CAUSING sudden braking. Same with night driving...

    A few last minute questions

FSD completely [almost] stops the car on a road

How do I stop this unintended acceleration?

    Thoughts on Using Two Teslas

3sr+buyer is correct that you want to have some regular use of the second car to prevent common storage/low usage issues. Wife considering getting a Tesla too, one charger enough?

Unless you both drive over 100mi/day, there is no problem sharing. We have shared a HPWC since 2018 with no problems. She charges twice a week and I may do 3-4 depending on weekend usage. Is my high wh/mi normal for my P84+?

My experience on backroads are they are not best for Wh/Mile average, too many curves and I tended to slow down into and accelerate out. Don't read too much into one trip, too many factors can distort. What is you lifetime Wh/mile, My '14 P85 averaged 305.

    WH/mile?

My 2018 100D is at 299 and my memory of '14 P85 was around 305. Being in colder climate will cause you to have higher average Wh/mile, but that is not going to explain your current high numbers. I also take the dogs on many trips so we use Dog Mode alot which raises my Wh/mile. I find that...

    Tesla Charging in NYC

There is NO free parking in NYC. These are destination charges (Tesla Wall Chargers) or Level 2 chargers. Usually L2 charges will provide about 20mph. The 72Kwh Urban chargers are designed to charge you in 1-2 hours while you dine or shop. The JFK SC is free.

2021 MSLR has a rated range of 402, Assuming a 5% degradation, charging to 80% should still give a 305 mile range. You are not going to get rated range, actual range varies greatly based on speed, weather and many other factors (this has been discussed a few times in TMC forums.). I usually...

Does this happen all the time or only for certain off ramps? I have experienced that EAP/NOA does a very good job of slowing down on off-ramps.
