So, I FINALLY got the replacement screen, and it is far more faulty than the last one! 🤬 Can’t believe it, waited almost 4 months for it, and had to pay £25 to return the old one!

Has anyone had this issue with their screen? It started small, but now it is growing and spreading across the screen!

I just did the update. I can confirm that a 16gb drive works, formatted to Fat32 4096 bytes I now have a different startup screen, with a Model Y instead of the Roadster!

I did give a direct example, it doesn’t connect sometimes.

Mainly it just not connecting, lots of fiddling that isn’t great when starting a journey.

The Android Auto & Carplay screens are very buggy, but the youtube reviewers never seem to mention this, it’s as if they’re being paid to promote the devices! 🤔 Even oem CP/AA in cars can be very temperamental, so I really wouldn’t bother with cheap Chinese aftermarket ones.

Yes, it auto dims like the main display, and is always a bit dimmer than the main display. Also on auto it switches to dark mode at night.

On LHD maybe, but on RHD it’s definitely easier to do it this way, as the knee panel has to come off anyway.

You don’t actually need to take the dash top off on LHD either, but both footwell panels need to be removed and the cable threaded behind the centre console. This is how its done:

I have fixed the wonky screen issue. I put a spring washer on the left side in between the screen and the cowling, which has levelled it out nicely:

Yes its still on the right hand side, very nice and close! 👍🏼 One slight issue I have with it is it looks like it’s not level, I think just because the air vent is sloped. I guess I’ll get used to it.

It was so easy to install on a right hand drive, didn’t even need to remove the top section of the dash, took 30 minutes total! Love it!!

That’s strange, everything we buy from aliexpress has the VAT added at checkout these days. Maybe that is due to Brexit then.

You always have to pay VAT on top of Aliexpress prices mate. At least Aliexpress charge the VAT at point of sale. iirc orders from Hansshow are charged VAT when it arrives in your country, before the courier will deliver it to you. But I’m not sure how third party sellers are able to sell...

I think it’s much better having the power meter at the top like the Tesla screen. Still no idea what the meter on the right was for though.

It’s really easy to install, the video I posted above shows the install process.

If the problem persists, then I would say it’s a faulty unit or harness.

Should do both.

I would start by checking the connections, try unplugging all of the connectors, check the pins for any damage, then plug back in and see how it goes.

Would that only apply to cars with FSD?

Yes it’s got a lot of cool features. If only it had the TACC set speed, and nav next turn instructions, then it would be perfect.

It looks like the only difference in the missing UI is those semi circle meters on the far left and right? Do you know what information they showed, I can’t make it out from your photo?

Those UIs are not on this unit, was probably a mistake. Here’s a new video on the 5.16 screen, shows the 2 UIs available.

Most modern phones allow you to connect the phone to the car for phone calls and the hansshow screen for music, this will avoid the phone call issues you guys are having.
