That seems so odd, that there are cars out there that wouldn't be automatically routed to someone else. Plenty of deliveries have low vin numbers for "new" cars which makes me think that they are getting rerouted, but didn't seem to be in your case...

From what I've heard, you should get your vin a few days before pickup so that you have time to overnight a check. DCU seemed to only send checks directly to Tesla or to you. I don't think there would be a scenario where you would get a Vin and car in the same day, unless it was preexisting...
