Sentry mode going into panic mode with a passenger in the car. Help!

Happened to me at a service area half way down France last summer with my wife and daughter in the car. Very nearly ruined the holiday, and was very much regarded as my fault for having a stupid car. Have turned sentry off on family journeys ever since.

    [UK] Price cuts

Speaking selfishly this means that I’m more likely to be able to swap my M3 LR like for like when the lease expires, should I want to. It impacts everyone differently.

M3 roof rack paint protection stickers

Exactly this. Mine were badly applied and are fingerprinty. If I could just order a new set I would but I can’t be bothered with creating new ones and putting them in the wrong place, so they’re staying put until they peel off on their own or the car goes back.

2 EV Household - what else you got?

We’ve got a Model 3 LR and our Mini SE will be arriving in September. The mini will be replacing old two fun ICE cars - a 15 year old Fiat Panda 100hp and a 26 year old supercharged mx5. The mini is the only small EV for the job really.

Tesla open up the SuC network [in UK]

So this is potentially good news for me. Two fairly local sites that I don’t tend to use in the Tesla, but which could be really handy in our new Mini when it turns up (assuming we ever go that far afield in it). What I’m trying to establish is whether you can add a non-Tesla to a Tesla...

    Norwich Service Centre, where?

I had a look this evening. The showroom looks complete, with a Model 3 and two Ys. No sign of any superchargers of yet, or of any work to upgrade the power supply. Going to be a while I guess.

    [UK]2022.4

I’ve just noticed that my software (2021.44.30.11) is “up to date as of 25th January” according to my car. I’m pretty sure that in the past it has always said up to date to whatever the current date is. Is that other people’s experience? Wondering if mine has got stuck somehow?

Thanks for clearing that up 😉

    Norwich Service Centre, where?

Very magnanimous of them to reserve some 7kW charging for hybrids. Or is this Tesla letting slip that they will be adding engines to some of their cars..? REX?

    Cold Legs

It’s my knees that get cold. I keep meaning to get myself a little blanket like you’d see on an old person’s wheelchair. Not quite the sort of Plaid I’d been dreaming of, but more practical in the UK.

BBC 1 - Panorama: The Electric Car Revolution – Winners and Losers. Wednesday at 19:30

This forum is a lot more balanced in its response than a lot of the comment on the Facebook Tesla groups. It’s all starting to sound a bit “fake news” on there which caused me to wonder about the sort of people who buy Teslas these days. Certainly not all lentil knitting environmentalists...

    What ICE would you preserve?

I’d keep my supercharged Mk1 MX5. Sadly I’ve just decided to sell it and replace it with the most fun, small EV I can find as I just don’t like putting petrol in it any more. I’ve never had more fun in a semi-practical car than I have in this. The epitome of the accessible analogue sports car in...

    ev.energy wants my data

I said yes. If it helps them develop what is already one of the best smart energy resources further then more power to them. If I was a spy or philanderer I may feel differently. I love ev.energy. By using their ap and adjusting the amount of kW I add each night judiciously I’ve reduced my cost...

I don’t think it was the same incident, but seems a big coincidence that this should happen a few hours later.

    Norwich Service Centre, where?

I’m told by someone at Kia that the Tesla contractors started work on Friday. Apparently there was all sorts of shenanigans at the site, with police involved, but don’t know the details. Probably the local mechanics protesting 😁

If you own Tesla stock vote NO

I wonder what the correlation is between no voters and tax avoiders? Just hypothesising

Norwich Tesla owners did you collect from Cambridge or they delivered?

Mine was delivered to me (from Brent Cross) but that may be because it’s through a lease company. Very good service either way.

    Norwich Service Centre, where?

Very happy that this is progressing. Most amusingly it’s right next to the garage run by the most EV-hating man I know. That’s really going to sting. It’s on the Norwich ring road, but not a great place for Superchargers really - not that Norfolk gets a lot of passing trade. I think the ones...

Differences between M3 SR+ and LR

I think performance is the only other thing. As an LR driver, I think the SR+ is probably plenty in that department too. The standard car would have suited me fine in 95% of my use, and maybe cost me an extra few minutes charging at generic rapid chargers on half a dozen journeys in the last six...

Anyone else got 2021.36 yet? I keep checking for it as I don’t normally have to wait long for updates, but no sign.

    UK Insurance Aviva Online

We use Aviva for car and home and i’ve found them incredibly easy to deal with. Not the cheapest, but not a big premium for the level of service when something happens.

Living with Jaguar iPace vs Model 3LR

The biggest issue with the Jaguar is it’s nickability. One guy I’ve seen online apparently had his stolen three times. Easily cloned remote locking and good ole PIN To Drive not an option.

Best place to Autocross in the UK?

What you’re talking about is called Autosolo in the UK. Against the clock around a tight course made up of cones. It’s a lot of fun, but not ideally suited to a Tesla as it’s all about getting round obstacles quickly. Teslas are too big and heavy and don’t lend themselves to handbrake turns for...

Tesla Model 3 LR (New) vs. BMW 330i (used)

If you want a last hurrah with a petrol car, I’d recommend getting the Tesla and something old, cheap and sporty as a bit of weekend fun. Modern petrol cars (unless very expensive) don’t provide any thrills that would outweigh the benefits of the Tesla. I also wouldn’t worry about things like...

    Norwich Service Centre, where?

Ah, you had me! I drove down Cromer and Reepham roads at the weekend and didn’t see any sign of Tesla-related activity. Fingers crossed they’re just updating the map then.

    Norwich Service Centre, where?

Tell me more! I’ve been keeping an eye out, and seen the jobs advertised. Which side of the city did they go with in the end?

    Norwich Service Centre, where?

I’ve just noticed that the Service Centre “coming soon” in Norwich has fallen off the Tesla map. Does this mean that it’s not going to happen any more, or that they’ll be updating the status soon? A bit of a blow if it’s fallen through.

The one it comes with? Or whatever floats your boat. There can be no best, but there can be some that will make others snigger.

Volvo dealers telling people they can use superchargers

I’ve been astonished by how little mainstream dealers know about their product. Porsche had a pop-up in Norwich the other day, with the Taycan Cross Turismo. I was asking a bit about it, and when I asked whether they’d be producing a RWD version the salesperson said they didn’t think they could...

    Looks like I'm moving on...

I’ve not had mine all that long, but if the lease costs allow I will certainly replace it with another. Ideally the new smaller one if it’s here in time. The build quality on my 2021 MIC is faultless to my eyes, and the thought of going back into something with an interior festooned with...

Tesla to fix smart charging (wake vehicle from sleep via Zappi charge)

I hadn’t spotted this thread before. I’m relieved in a sense that it isn’t just me with the problem. Fingers crossed it gets positively resolved in the next big release.

    Tesla Model 2

This. I just don’t want an SUV. Even the ones that aren’t stupidly inefficient (like the Y) are still too big and antisocial and by definition don’t drive as well as lower cars. I want everything that Tesla brings in the smallest package possible that will accommodate four/five people. Golf...

    Tesla Model 2

I’d have had one instead of my 3 if it had been available. I far prefer smaller, more agile cars. Hopefully we’ll have it in RHD by the time mine’s up for replacement. Similar performance from a lighter car with similar range from a smaller battery - and with a hatchback - sounds perfect.

Should I just leave me roof bars on all the time?

I’ve left bike holders on the top of other cars year round, and would like to with this one, but it just seems a bit at odds with the aero ethos. I don’t think the range reduction would impact on daily life, but I guess I might feel a bit silly.

I’m thinking about doing the same. Interested to hear what people think.

    Norwich Service Centre, where?

Thanks. That makes sense. There’s lots of empty showroom/service space out on Reepham/Cromer Roads. It’s not exactly a prime site, but cheap I imagine. I’ll have a nose about next time I’m out that way. I’d be surprised, but glad, if it’s Hall Road. I can’t see Tesla investing in something shiny...

    Norwich Service Centre, where?

Any news about where the Norwich Service Centre is going to be and when it’s likely to open? Taking delivery of my 3LR next week, and had rather hoped the service centre wouldn’t be too far behind, given how long it has been trailed.
