    Pyro Fuse Fuss

We should know how many are false if people wait. We know the fuse has no data connectivity to the car and its purely time based (as the warning indicates, 6 months left). I knew my car didn't have the fuse and sure enough the alert disappeared after 4 days.
  5. G

    Pyro Fuse Fuss

P85D 2015. I knew it was a false alert as I have previously dropped the pack and had the fuse in my hand. Sure enough, around4 days later, alert gone. Tesla are scamming people with this.

    Pyro Fuse Fuss

Wait, some are a false alert and will clear after a few days.

It confused me too. You no longer need to renew the free subscription. Just login and click on the service docs.

    Pyro Fuse Fuss

I can't say this enough. if you get the warning, wait! There was a bug in the fw that was triggering the alert which cleared after 5 or so days. My car alerted but I knew it didn't have the fuse as I have dropped the pack to replace contactors. The warning cleared. I wonder how many of these...

Model S pyro fuse needs replacing

Most of these errors are triggered by a bug in the firmware, wait a few days and if it goes off then you already have the updated fuse. I know mine was not the battery powered version as I'd had it in my hand when I dropped the pack. Don't be paying £500 for this nonsense, wait at least a week...

Radar and Parking Sensors after facelift

Tb3, I used a levelling tool for vertical, which was just a small spirit level I happened to have.

Radar and Parking Sensors after facelift

That's exactly how I did mine and I had to replace the radar due to crash damage. Aligned and ran the recalibrate on Toolbox and it's been good for a year.

    Pyro Fuse Fuss

Unfortunately no, there is a great PDF online and accompanying YouTube video showing the upgrade steps.
  14. G

    Pyro Fuse Fuss

The fuse can still blow without the pyro detonating, I do agree with you though, it should be a free swap - I've seen a US quote with it done for free. The ludicrous upgrade actually requires the removal of the fuse for the front motor line and replacement with a bus bar. So they dont care too...

Have you looked at the official service repair manual? Service.tesla.com
  16. G

    Pyro Fuse Fuss

    1) depending on year, the fuse is in a small compartment either on top or below the pack, my guess is they ship without the fuse as it would be safer (slightly), but we have no idea if they replace it as part of the work. 2) the fuse has no 'status' communication with the car, is a time of...

85D vs P85D. Whats the difference other then 0-60times?

I wonder if he is still undecided 6 years on? 🤔
  18. G

    Pyro Fuse Fuss

I agree it seems to have been known but not communicated very well, its not in any service schedule, you'd think they would mention it. I've been around these forums for a couple of years and only seen it mentioned recently.
  19. G

    Pyro Fuse Fuss

Not sure yet, I've seen an invoice from US which was covered but lots in the UK over the last few days have been getting quotes for around £300. On newer batteries the fuse can be accessed from below rather than above needing the pack to be dropped.
  20. G

    Pyro Fuse Fuss

I think this is a scam by Tesla who have realised that the original battery powered pyro fuse is failing to blow on some cars so added a date check to the firmware to trigger the alert. The fuse has no way to communicate with the car so they have just picked an amount that these will last until...

I have a model S reg. in 2016. LED died in the top eyebrow of the passenger side cluster. Failed an MOT I believed DRLs were not included until 2018?

According to MOT inspection manual: cars and passenger vehicles - 4. Lamps, reflectors and electrical equipment - Guidance - GOV.UK They should only be tested on vehicles first used on or after 1 March 2018

2023.12.1 Updated Service Menu and tools for legacy cars

Open contactors = HV disconnected from car. Closed = connected. Sitting in drivers seat and pressing the brake will close the contactors (they usually close before this, in the model S usually on unlocking).

2023.12.1 Updated Service Menu and tools for legacy cars

As said above, disconnect the fireman's loop will open the contactors. Contactors close when you unlock the car (and to charge the 12v etc). Fireman's loop is part of the high voltage interlock which is used to check HV components aren't comprised by using resistance (each HV component has a...

Salvage Model S P85D Contactors Not Closing

Forgot all about this thread. I finally hired Toolbox 3 (in the UK you can hire for one hour), I went through the BMS reset stress procedures and am finally error free, also recalibrated the radar so have AP too.

    Toolbox 2 connection trouble

I believe that Toolbox 2 has been disabled for external use. Toolbox 2 tries to connect to two endpoints, an external and internal address. The internal I think is for service centers that have a VPN connection back to Tesla. I decompiler tbx.exe and you can see the below..

Owners whom choose to go without any warranty, please chime in...

I bought mine as a salvage on 3 wheels. My 'warranty' runs out in September but I obviously won't go near a service center anyway. I've always done work myself on all my cars and Tesla is no different. I've had the pack open to replace contactors so if anything else goes battery wise I'll deal...

    Toolbox3 Missing Articles

Hi All, I purchased an hour subscription to toolbox3, connected to the car no problem and cleared a couple of alerts. I have an issue with the front radar which I was hoping to use the articles section on toolbox to guide my diagnostics. No articles were being returned in the search, even when...

Door handle broken in odd way

I just purchased a repair kit from ebay in the UK. This had the mechanical cog part but also 2 new microswitches. It sounds like one of the switches has failed so the kit should do it.

Steering has gone wishy/floaty - feels like gusts of wind

Thanks for the update, Let us know how you go on with the approved garage. I got a quote from one in Trafford Park, Manchester (4 wheel alignment) for £225+ vat, went to book it in and insisted I also paid for radar calibration at a further £350+ vat, they refused to just to the alignment. I...

    Tesla Toolbox V2

I would love them if you don't mind sharing. I'd extract the uds commands as I have some basic software I'm working on that I was going to open source. Got some BMS stuff already but these plugins might give me the rest.
  38. G

    Tesla Toolbox V2

Yep I was after the dbc files from the plugins, got as far as decompiling the exe before realising the main plugins get downloaded after login. Apparently it's possible to decrypt them if the machine is running toolbox and logged in.
  39. G

    Tesla Toolbox V2

I disagree with this. V2 installed version tries to login via tesla servers which are down since they pulled the plug on v2. When this did work it would download all the plugin for the different modules (might be what @Pointer was referring to). V2 does check for a VPN to an internal tesla url...

Steering has gone wishy/floaty - feels like gusts of wind

Keep us updated. Mine does this and i actually think it's some electrical input as sometimes it's fine, once I go past 80mph it seems to turn something on that has a stronger input on steering, really weird feeling and makes me lose confidence in the car. I've changed the steering motor on mine...

Vehicle fraudulently transferred out of account without permission

I had to rename the car to a (I think) 5 char code. I wonder where this is generated, maybe someone has worked out this code generation, hopefully its not the app that generates it. As for doc checks, they didn't do a great check as I still have free SC on a salvage car.

    2013 car mystery wire

Looks like one of the pull cables that open the frunk, you should have two actuators either side and they pull that wire that open 2 latches on the frunk. Does your frunk open fully on the keyfob press or do you have to open it like a traditional bonnet?

Need canbus ID for controlling dome and footwell lights

I would attach an analyser to the body canbus and turn them on/off a few times recording the time you did it, then sift through the logs. Take a bit of time but shouldn't be too hard. I've done this with BMS commands and found them without much trouble.
  46. G

    HV replacement/towing damage

What fuse are you talking about? The pack fuse will come with the pack. The HVJB to Front Drive Unit fuse is replaced for a bus bar on the Ludicrous upgrade.
  47. G

    ‘14 P85DL totaled - How do I get in?

The HV battery will have disconnected which means its not charging the 12v. You can jump the 12v from the front but tbh you might as well smash a window as that won't ever be back in the road.

    tesla scanning software

Yeah as I said, T-Diag and T-Can Pro are aftermarket ones, Toolbox from Tesla but it's expensive. You can view slightly more detail for error codes for free on the Tesla service site.
  49. G

    tesla scanning software

T-Diag and T-Can Pro are two aftermarket ones which are very expensive unless you hire them. The car uses UDS protocol which is like an advanced OBD2 protocol. You can do some things yourself with a £20 usb to canbus adapter but you need to know your stuff.
