    Re-attaching OEM mudflaps

We had a multi-foot snow dump and my MY lost both OEM mudflaps in the resulting mess. Miraculously, I found both (one was across town). Now I need to re-attach them but of course the OEM clips are long gone. Any suggestions?

Car nav vs. Mobile app disagree on route

I was sitting in the car in Boulder, Colorado and I asked it to plan a route to Tusayan, AZ near the Grand Canyon. It gave me the attached route. It seems a tad optimistic as this route crosses one of the biggest L3 charging “deserts” in the lower 48: the Navajo Nation, between Blanding, UT and...

Tire repair & value of a second opinion

Had a leaky tire (20” Michelins Pilot Sport AS w/6,000 miles) with a screw in it. Firestone said the screw was too close to the sidewall (see pic) and a replacement was necessary. They didn’t have the tire in stock, so I went to Discount Tire who said the tire was an easy repair. Shows the...

MYLR at 46K miles – consumption graphs

I use a monthly trip and the Tesla app Charging Stats to capture data over time, here’s my charging habits and my efficiency over time. Based in Colorado, mostly commuting on highways and a few obvious road trips.

What’s your longest drive without charging?

Alright, time to brag… or share horror stories. What’s the farthest you have driven your MY without charging? Or your longest leg between charging stops? I’ve had my MY for one year and my longest so far it’s 231 miles round-trip from Boulder to Laramie, Wyoming. Mostly 50 to 65 mph, A couple...

    Autopilot and potholes

Any tricks to get Autopilot to dodge potholes? It seems to sim straight for ‘em! (Or do you need FSD?)

Best clay bar kit for beginners?

6 month old MY, no PPF or ceramic. Lots of accumulated bug debris on leading surfaces. Any recommendations on ‘entry level’ clay bar kits to use?

Pre-conditioning and arrival SOC on long drives

I gained some insight on how preconditioning (for Supercharging) while driving plays into estimated Arrival SOC and the Energy > Trip graph. We were crossing one of America’s “Level 3 Charging Deserts,” the Navajo Nation in northern Arizona. Driving from Tuba City, AZ to Blanding, UT...

Charge Stats feature in latest Tesla mobile app

I noticed latest update to Tesla mobile app now has a simplified view of Charge Stats. It looks pretty awesome! Although I suspect the numbers are “net charge received by the battery,” not the actual kWh sent to the car for preconditioning, etc. What do y’all think of your Charge Stats?

    Cold weather idling (heat on)

Tonight, I was in my MY idling for 2 hours in winter temps. Outside was 16F and interior was 73F with some street heaters on (Camp Mode). I lost 4% of SOC over 2 hours, so about 2%/hour, which seemed pretty good.

Optimal battery temps for Level 2 charging

As we head into our first winter for many of the new Tesla owners on this site… What is the optimal temperature range for Level 2 (I.e. HPWC) charging, so the car doesn’t need to heat or cool the battery (thereby losing charging efficiency)? As we roll into winter and my garage temp drops into...

    ICE cars with concealed tailpipes

Anybody notice the recent ICE cars, especially from Audi and Volvo, have well-concealed tailpipes? It’s like they want to look like EVs… (This is a big change from days of yore when tailpipes were flaunted with square tips, dual or quad exhaust ports, integration into bumpers, and other silliness!)

Battery low & “cold” 57F weather

Got home from a 200 mile day trip and saw this message as I pulled into my driveway and battery hit 20%. The temperature is 57F. What gives?!

Trip computer and energy use while parked

Does the trip computer include energy expended when the car is in park, e.g. cabin or battery pre conditioning, dog mode, etc.? Or does it only include energy expended while the car is moving?
