Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

It also looks to slightly open the blower blender door, which can be seen in service mode

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Parts were around 200-250 right? I got lucky getting the button for free, but personally I would paid $150 for it.

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Given other hepa retrofits were $500, you’ll still come out on top to be fair…

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

I hadn’t asked in a while, so I figured I would open another ticket. That same day Support reached back out to me and asked me to clarify my request about adding the config option. then I explained that I had purchased in retrofitted the hardware, and did not hear back. This morning I went to...

    retrofit Projector headlights?

As someone who has a vision only car, I’m all for improving my visibility. Honestly though, I’m not impressed with the light output of these, at least from the pictures. Id rather have an OEM matrix retrofit, but I know that will never happen. Something like these might just have to do

    HomeLink DIY install

you are not voiding the warranty. Tesla will not warranty the home link module, that’s it’s. It’s not like the entire warranty is void if you touch a tool to the car….

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Well I finally got a more “official” answer from a Service tech: “we don’t offer the software retrofit since the hardware retrofit “does not fit” so therefore is not supported. I could not get any more details on what “does not fit” since I noted no issues with fitment, and there are no other...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

I’m not sure who we need to complain to, but I’m ready to do what ever is needed. We are not asking for anything like FSD, it’s simply a quality of life feature.

Model S Tempest wheel covers on Model Y?

Probably not, but I wouldn’t be surprised if three did randomly fall off over time.
  11. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Well I just had an independent certified Tesla shop take a crack at it and they were not able to. Apparently they even reached out to contacts at Tesla. At this point I guess I give up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  12. Grandpa Gebis

Model S Tempest wheel covers on Model Y?

Yes they fit, just not very tight. I had tried a set, but I can’t find the picture at the moment
  13. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

It will still be a toss up on if they even do it. I’ve had two mobile techs out, both said no.
  14. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Another mobile service appointment, a new tech, another failure. I guess I will have to be patient and continue trying or try other service centers when I’m on road trips.

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Teslas fragmentation with support is horrible for customer morale. I’ve asked nicely and explained why so many times but still keep getting the run around :(

It was a one off listing from about a year ago. Just search the part number on eBay.

Successful retrofit of passenger lumbar on 2021 Model Y

So you got yours reactivated via a third party with access to Toolbox?
  18. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

The tabs that get bolted down are out in the open and you can just use a sharpie/paint pen through the holes; unless you’re talking about something else and I’m misunderstanding
  19. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

There is a single bolt/nut (can’t recall which) that hold it on. I’m guessing folks who have done this install the duct, install the filter, then mark where the holes are. Pretty straight forward.
  20. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

I would say yes, especially if you don’t have the config option for HEPA enabled. The filter is the entire width of the apron opening, so having half closed would impact airflow.

    Passenger seat Lumbar support

Can confirm the retrofit is no longer adjustable.
  22. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Trust me. I’ve done that. Would you be willing to share a general location of the SC/tech you worked with? The tech who I’m chatting with was curious. I don’t want to get anyone in trouble, which is why I said general; but if you don’t want to say I understand.
  23. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

I was just denied again, and told that it will not be an approved retrofit… perhaps I’ll just keep trying with different mobile techs, or random service centers as I’m traveling?
  24. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

I don’t think anyone wants to cause any issues, maybe just see what keywords or verbiage was used. Idk about others but I’d happily pay for a config change and have it done in a way that doesn’t screw a tech/SC
  25. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

    Lucky… I can’t get a tech/my local SC to even budge :(

  28. Grandpa Gebis

Any Model Y with new projector headlights in the USA?

Yes, but not 100% until Tesla is willing to make the config change. And even if they are, you’ll have to get the lights through them which will be much more than the $300-$400 you can get a set on eBay for.
  29. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Some have, some have not. I’m unfortunately in the “not” category.

The fan curve is different as well, hopefully one day they’ll allow techs to turn change the config

Installed! Austin MY C Pillars for Parcel Shelf

Thanks for the insight. It’s harder to justify since I have fairly dark tint for privacy but it helps with cabin noise I might just do it.

I was told it was validated as a retrofit, but tabled for the time being. Could be tomorrow, could be never.

  37. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

My mobile tech told me today he could not enable BWD at this point, but that in the future they might be able to. Seems very hit or miss (surprise surprise) on if a tech will do the config change. I totally understand their side though, as they don’t want to be reprimanded. Just a shame Tesla...

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

I saw on Reddit someone was able to convince a tech to enable BWD mode. They also noted there was an increase in air pressure/speed when just using the “intake fresh air” setting. Time to start smooth talking service/mobile service tech.

Ordered June 11th, they were ready June 20th.
  43. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Got all my parts yesterday. The service tech more or less confirmed that there weren’t other parts needed and that the retrofit shouldn’t cause issues. You can clearly tell the decreased flow when using the non recirculate setting, and full fan speed with no recirculate does seem to provide less...
  44. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

I just asked via my parts request, and was told it’s is not something they can do at this time. I plan to ask next time Mobile service is needed as they seem more willing to bend the rules
  45. Grandpa Gebis

Retro-fitting HEPA filter in Model Y

Strange, I did service > something else, asked to order the parts, pasted and sent it. They ordered the parts and sent the invoice. It’s a shame Tesla is so disjointed on the SC offerings.
