    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Doing a big drive this weekend on 2022.4.5, loving the changes to Autopilot. Barely got any nag over a 100km journey on mixed highways and country roads, even while wearing sunglasses (there was speculation the in-cabin camera was eye tracking and so didn't work for sunglass wearers). Anyone...

Tesla Model 3 2020 SR+ - Footwell Lights turning on when car wakes from sleep

Interesting it still separates floor mats. They were included in my SR+.

Tesla Model 3 2020 SR+ - Footwell Lights turning on when car wakes from sleep

I think they're referring to the new Model 3 RWD (no more SR+ moniker). There's no differentiation with "premium interior" anymore, and it comes with things like heated steering wheel and rear seat heating. It more than likely also includes the speakers and interior lights activated. Seems a...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

This change annoyed the hell out of me and I also thought it was a bug. However, it does come back but you need to tap the map specifically to see it (it doesn't come up with zooming via pinching). You can then set the compass via North oriented or follow route like before. But it will...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

It could well be this often. Getting rather annoying. I tried taking off sunglasses and putting them on to see if it's the in-cabin camera trying to see my face and if I'm concentrating but didn't notice a difference. Maybe a more scientific process is needed to test that 😂

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

One thing I noticed with the newer update without release notes is that Autopilot nag seems to be happening way more frequently. Kinda annoying on longer trips of highway where it's asking almost every 30 seconds to move the wheel despite the road being straight and clear.

Model 3 Build Quality - What's your experience?

My 21 SR+ (built April) was pretty much perfect on delivery. Had slight difference in recessing of the rear door handles (cosmetic, you'd need to be pretty anal to see it), but was fixed in a morning at the service centre. Have had no other issues at all.

Powershop bought by Shell? Time to move…

Proudly churned today from Powershop. Looks like it's a PR nightmare for them already, they're trying to claim that it'll mean more investment in renewables blah blah. Smells like Greenwashing from a company that actively undermined responses to climate change and regulation of the fossil fuel...

    Apartment charger installation

Yep, I'd love to be able to get my apartment power down there. But any power installation is unfortunately off building power and so they can deny the request. I hope Vic also brings in legislation that means you can't prohibit installations if you're an owner and the usage is metered. Somehow...

    Apartment charger installation

Trying to fight this with my OC at the moment. 148 carparks. They claim that there isn't enough power, despite the requests being only for 10A GPO to get over the line and only a handful of existing EVs. Instead, they drafted a by-law to explicitly prohibit such installations. They're the kind...

Model 3 or wait for Model Y and other questions

Disagree. Debt is a tool, like a hammer it can be good or bad depending how it's used. It can be used to increase purchasing power or hedge against inflation, or simply for opportunity cost. Buying a car on finance is not a bad financial decision (depending on your circumstances). For example...

Any definitive answer on charging to 100% or not?

For LFP there does seem to be a recommendation to charge it to 100% once a week: https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-lfp-battery-full-charge/

Damn camera picks up inappropriate speed signs

Most annoying thing is when there's a service road next to where I'm travelling with a different speed limit. Regularly the car detects the sign for the service road at 40 km/h, even though I'm travelling on a 60 km/h road because it can't tell the difference on which sign is for which road.

Just FYI, the 500GB T7 is on sale from FutuOnline on Ebay. $108 shipped with code PFYS20. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/233948623910 Grabbed one.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

Estimated Delivery: June 19 - June 28 My delivery window is still moving. According to my SA, the Victorian orders were starting to arrive this week (subject to change). I do hope that as we get closer to the end of June that it becomes a bit more narrow. Also checked my VIN with VicRoads and...

How COMPLETELY useless is the dashcam in the Model 3?

$79 USD is $103AUD. US prices do not include taxes, so add GST = $113.30. Other retails are selling them for around $129. Seems about right to adjust for shipping/marketing etc.

Same experience as well. Dates got shifted by 4 days, no contact about the shift or my order. Last communication I got was advising that floor mats are now included in the SR+.

    Tesla Model 3 in Australia

The third ship of the quarter has now visited Brisbane and Wollongong and currently headed towards Melbourne to dock at 4am local time. According to VedaPrime, this shipment contains the most number of Model 3s ever delivered in one go to Australia. As someone with an SR+ on that boat, it's...
