Supercharger - Squamish, BC - Commercial Way

Yeah true, the front-in stalls are not pull through. Good for hitch bike racks and such, not good for trailers.

Supercharger - Squamish, BC - Commercial Way

Yeah, there are at least 3 front-in stalls, possibly more I didn’t get a full look

Supercharger - Squamish, BC - Commercial Way

It’s turned on! I talked to the guy who just finished commissioning it and he said I’m the first person to use it 😀

    Tesla 14-50, at the campground...ack

Some confusion here. The 14-50 adapter you bought connects directly to the tesla mobile connector. Unplug the mobile connector, and pull the regular 15amp adapter straight out from the mobile connector brick. The 14-50 adapter should fit. As for the 30a plug, you are using the 15a adapter on...

Why didn't the car go into Park Automatically here?

Something to add...I drive with Hold mode (one pedal). When I am stopped and Hold is engaged, if I press on the brake pedal then release it, hold mode will disengage (and the speedo will show 0mph). It remains in this state for a couple seconds before hold mode re-engages. It's possible that by...

Would you pay more for a used radar M3 versus new vision one?

Going 85mph in an 80mph zone on AP on a straight multi-lane divided highway is grossly unsafe?
  7. M

Would you pay more for a used radar M3 versus new vision one?

They are still using the radar unless you are on FSD beta. If you live in states with common 75-80mph speed limits (much of the west), then autopilot being limited to 80mph makes it much less useful. In that case, I would put a premium on radar. As for phantom braking, my radar MY very rarely...

    2022.4

Has anyone had a chance to test out the autopilot improvements yet? This could convince me to upgrade to V11 if it does a good job in stop-and-go traffic now...

How to turn off the parking brake on a M3?

Couldn't you use the free-roll setting in car wash mode to leave the car in neutral? By the way, the press-and-hold on the P button does do something different (on my MY) than just regular park mode. There is an audible click at the brake pedal when it engages. I'm guessing that maybe it...

Has anyone tried putting a used radar module in a "vision" MY or M3?

Yeah makes sense...looks like you need root access to do it.

Has anyone tried putting a used radar module in a "vision" MY or M3?

Looks like a few folks already tried this... Is it possible to install a radar sensor myself on a "no radar" Model Y/3

Has anyone tried putting a used radar module in a "vision" MY or M3?

If you look on ebay (and similar), it is easy to find used OEM M3/MY radar modules. Wondering if anyone has tried installing one in their "vision only" M3/MY and if the AP software picks it up and starts using it. I have an MY with radar so I can't test...although I guess I could pull my radar...

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

No there is no notification. I have a button on each side of the steering wheel, with the left one configured to set the regen to 0% and the right one configured to set the regen to 100%. There is a bug in the s3xy buttons firmware where the 0% regen button actually acts as a toggle between 0%...

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

Yeah, in general customization of the scroll wheel functions would be great

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

Yeah, I put one on each side of the steering wheel to act as on/off regen paddles

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

After a few more trips up the canyons, my protocol is: Very low speed (getting in and out of deeper snow in parking spots): Try first in normal settings, if that fails try Off-Road assist or slip-start. low to medium speed (under 35mph, surface roads, canyon roads, snow roads): Normal settings...

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

In my testing, no I can't set regen higher than the standard 100%. Maybe that is just a performance model thing since the rear motor is higher power (and thus higher potential regen power).

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

I experienced the exact opposite in my dual motor Y. It is amazingly good at getting started in the snow and crawling up steep inclines at low speed.

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

Got to play around in the snow again last night. This time it was a twisty, hilly, packed snow road (dirt road in the summer) with lots of ruts, washboard and some smooth icy sections. The car handled impressively well. On the downhills it was a bit more wiggly than my old '04 subaru impreza...

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

I got the chance to take the car out in some of the worst possible conditions this morning on the way up to the ski hill. Wet snow had frozen onto cold road, outside temps were about 20F and there was a glaze of ice on the highway with a moderate dusting of snow on top. In anticipation of an...

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

The buttons just arrived and I tested them out. They do indeed work to disable/enable regen. It takes roughly 5 seconds for regen to ramp down to 0% and the same for it to ramp back up. It also remembers the setting across driving sessions and even across a Power Off. One little quirk: The...

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

My Y is a March 2021 build. I'll let you know if it works. Edit -- The manufacturer claims it can be done:

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

I found this interesting product and ordered a set: S3XY Buttons Thinking of using two buttons to set up "regen paddles" on the left and right side of the steering wheel. Could be nice to be able to enable 0% regen on the highway too.

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

Ok, just went for a short drive. When you press both pedals at the same time, any power is cut but regen remains unaffected. So, you could use that to apply the brakes without regen in case you need to slow down and are worried about the rear end cutting loose. Just keep the right foot at the...

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

Does this disable regen entirely while both pedals are pressed? I played around with this one day a few months ago but I can't remember if regen kicked on or not.

    Sentry cam recording constantly

Using sentry mode all the time is actually pretty wasteful, I think keeping the car awake uses somewhere around 200w of power. Assuming it is enabled 16hr a day and your electric is $0.12/kwh that is $11.50 per month of wasted energy.
  28. M

    Regenerative braking on icy roads

If you press the brake while still depressing the accelerator pedal, I think regen is disabled (as is acceleration) and only the friction brakes are applied. Not with my MY now if anyone else wants to test. I could be mistaken...did some testing a few weeks back but I can't quite remember. EDIT...

Can I install charger on an existing 70amp breaker?

The contacts in the outlet itself are only rated to 50A, so you need to put a 50A breaker on it. Yes you can get away with a larger breaker, but if something goes wrong with the outlet you could end up with a fire or a melted outlet.

Can I install charger on an existing 70amp breaker?

What is the circuit wired up to? If it is a 14-50 outlet then that breaker is too big for the outlet.

Demo Model Y not as advertised

For what it's worth I bought a demo MY with 3k miles on it for a $2400 discount. It was nicely cleaned and detailed and the only problems with it was some minor curb rash on one side and a few very small paint chips. After bringing it home I discovered a small dent which tesla has agreed to fix...

Hi all, considering buying a tesla

Thanks for the advice! I found a test drive model Y for a decent discount ($2400 off) that was the same as my build and was built in March so includes radar. Going to pick it up sometime this month :)
