What's people's experience with the M3, towbar bike carriers and bikes?

That's 369 kg in total and you haven't added whatever is in boot. Depending on which model year that m3lr is you might be over the limit. I think the earlier model 3's have a slightly higher load limit. If I loaded up mine like that I would be slightly over the limit. My 2021 car has a...

To Wales from Brussels in LHD Tesla

Yes, I'm aware of that. However, my lights were clearly lighting up peoples faces coming the other way (and people were flashing at me). When pointing the headlights at a white wall the low beams have the regular sharp cut off straight ahead with a couple of brighter blocks up to the right to...

To Wales from Brussels in LHD Tesla

So we're back from Wales. What a beautiful place! We went on some nice hikes up and around Mt. Snowdon, we met an Irish family and went for a short swim with them in one of those freezing lakes up there. Wonderful! We're definitely coming back. (And Stonehenge was pretty impressive too.) It's...

What's people's experience with the M3, towbar bike carriers and bikes?

I seem to remember it was around 300 kg, so I checked my older COC document for the same car and that says empty weight is 1919 kg which would give me 313 kg for passengers and cargo. Anyway, 2232 is the max legal weight without a trailer that at least my model 3 is limited by.

What's people's experience with the M3, towbar bike carriers and bikes?

From 2020 or 2021 they lowered it. Is that from 2018 or 19 model 3? My 2021 M3LR COC-document says max weight 2232 kg and empty weight is 1981 kg (with a 75 kg driver, presumably, but not sure if that includes the towbar assembly?). That leaves 251 kg for four passengers and cargo. Not much...

What's people's experience with the M3, towbar bike carriers and bikes?

I remove them when I'm not going to use them for a while, as there's a little bit of extra noise when driving fast. There's also a slight range penalty if you're going fast on the motorway. With a proper high quality thule carrier of some sorts the bikes are steady and secure. Take off the...

What's people's experience with the M3, towbar bike carriers and bikes?

I would just get the roofbars and a sturdy bike carrier from Thule. The roof bars have a load limit of 68 kg, so it should be enough for two ebikes. I regularily carry four bikes on the car this way. When I travel with two ebikes and two regular bikes, one of the ebikes has to go on the roof to...

I understand, but this is what needs to be done to get the kids to go hiking in Wales. :)

To Wales from Brussels in LHD Tesla

Ok, So we'll avoid South-North then. But since we're foreign visitors we need to see the Stonehenge. 😬 We don't mind a bit of rain. We have been warned, but I'm curious to see how bad it can be. I'll report back. airbnb put us in a cabin in what looks like some hills right next to mt...

To Wales from Brussels in LHD Tesla

Thanks for all the advice! :) We're actually headed to Snowdonia to go hiking over a few days. We've decided to try out the closest Norwegian-looking mountains to Brussels. The Alps are too pointy and the Ardennes too flat. :) My co-pilot insists on staying over at the Stonehenge on the way...

To Wales from Brussels in LHD Tesla

I'm driving up to northern Wales from Brussels in a couple of weeks and I thought I'd ask you for some advice. I have done some driving in the UK earlier, but only in rentals with the steering on the right side. Charging: Can I rely on the Tesla chargers to get there and back again or would you...

UK to Lake Garda - route help please

I've driven down that way three times the last year. You've got to pay tolls in France, but I think you can avoid most of them by going via Belgium. But then the French motorways are really nice and a lot less stressful to drive on compared to the German autobahn. I like to avoid the autobahn if...

    Netherlands Kyiv and back

I haven't driven all the way to kyiv, but I have driven in Poland, which is on the way. The Superchargers I visited I am Poland were few and far between. I wouldn't trust the Supercharger network in Poland but the local greenway network was fine. A bit difficult to find, and not always on the...

    Charging questions

Mennekes is the same as that blue AC cable that is supplied with the car. So that's 7.7 kW AC charging for you. Don't bother with the chademo adapter unless that's a plug you would need often in your area. It's being phased out. The CCS is a mennekes with two extra pins and used for fast DC...

Superchargers in Poland and the Baltics

I'll be driving through Poland, the Baltics and up through Finland to Northern Norway soon. Looking on the map and reading the reviews of these superchargers, it seems quite a few of the ones in Poland and the Baltics are in restricted parking garages and are often placed far away from the main...

    Weird Supercharger Layout

This is a very common layout in Norway. Easier to use and more efficient use of space. It makes charging with a trailer, a bike rack or a non-tesla much easier. Imo this should be the standard layout.

Op reis naar Noorwegen met de Tesla

The weather isn't normally this unstable. Those freezing - melting cycles together with all that snow is causing problems. If the temperatures could just remain on one side of 0° all would be good. :) How are you finding the Norway-Holland lines ferry? I tried it back in April and wasn't...

Op reis naar Noorwegen met de Tesla

Take care on your way back home as you come down from the mountains. Eastern Norway is now experiencing some of the worst driving conditions seen in the last couple of years. Wet and freezing snow on top of ice and frozen, previously melted snow. While the 4wd traction is excellent, it is still...

    Uneven tyre wear (or not)?

It's a Model 3 Long Range from mid 2021. One of the last ones from the Fremont plant, apparently. I do the wheel swaps myself and remember I thought the inner edges of the summers looked a little odd when I removed them last autumn as well, but not really enough to do anything about it. At that...

    Uneven tyre wear (or not)?

I did. Now, the question here is whether the tyres are supposed to look like this or if this is a sign of excessive wear that I need to get fixed. For all I know, the Michelin pilot sport 4 tyres are supposed to look like this. I never inspected them closely when they where new and I have...

    Uneven tyre wear (or not)?

I changed to my winter wheels this weekend and when taking off the summers I noticed the inner tread of the tyre looks to be worn down about 4-5 mm lower than the outer. I've rotated the wheels on every winter/summer swap since new in 21, and the wear looks pretty much the same on all four...

    Verbruik bij dakkoffer en fietsendrager

I just completed a 3000 km road trip with 4 bikes, for the most part on motorways. Two bikes on the towbar, and two on the roof. Trying to keep the speed at around 110-120 km/h on average, I ended up with between 230 and 280 wh/km on a 2021 model 3 long range. When it got windy that figure...

Sudden decreased max speed limit on highway

I have been driving around in Norway now with a 2021 m3 (the one with radar) and I'm having the same problems with random speeds popping up and interfering with the autopilot. This problem is huge in Norway, but negligible in most other places I have been driving this summer (Spain, France...

I'm moving to Belgium and bringing our Tesla. What to expect?

Yes, those Pirellis are probably more suitable for Belgian roads. However, as this car was bought in Norway, they come with the way much softer Hakkapelitta R3. Once these Hakkapelittas are worn out (which probably won't be long given how soft they are) I will go for some continental winter...

I'm moving to Belgium and bringing our Tesla. What to expect?

So I noticed you guys revived the thread again. :) Anyway, I suppose I owe you guys a litte update: We did eventually get our Belgian plates. They were long over due, and I did contact both the DIV and the police telling them that they had to hurry up or they'd have to go through the hassle...

Empty weight of Model 3 Long Range in Belgium?

No, you're not dim. :) Most cars have a max weight limit which is more than enough. I had an old Citroen that would take way more than my current Tesla, but it was almost undrivable when fully loaded. In the Tesla you barely notice any difference and that makes you wonder why they've set that...

Empty weight of Model 3 Long Range in Belgium?

Lol! But seriously, are there no vehicle scales here? I know back home you could stop next to the motorway and weigh your car in certain places to determine whether you were within the limits. This has usually never been an issue on other cars I've had because you'd run out of room in the car...

Empty weight of Model 3 Long Range in Belgium?

I was wondering, what is the empty weight of the car? In the COC-document I just recieved in order to register my Norwegian car here in Belgium it says 1919 kg. Now, in my digital Norwegian registration information that was just adjusted down to 1906 kg. Apparently this was done on quite a few...

Any one driven to Norway - What charging Apps/Cards do I need?

I can try and offer som input here: To get the free or cheaper tolls you need to check out this page: AutoPASS - AutoPASS Its worth the time, as you'll probably end up paying around 10% of the ordinary tolls. You also pay for most ferries that way. In Oslo and a few other places you can use...

I'm moving to Belgium and bringing our Tesla. What to expect?

Yes, I really think there isn't any other option. Work is there, and the kid's school is there. And we're all pretty used to not being dependant on driving everywhere so I guess Brussels it is. I have noticed that Van Dessel deal and I have sent them an e-mail. I will of course also sign up to...

I'm moving to Belgium and bringing our Tesla. What to expect?

Thanks! If in dire need of a charge up I suppose I'll have to use that SuC then. :) Are there any regulations around charging a car in an underground garage *without* a proper charger, ie by just using the mobile charger that comes with the car? It is slow and unpractical, but depending on where...

I'm moving to Belgium and bringing our Tesla. What to expect?

So we're relocating to Brussels and I was wondering, seeing as EVs and Teslas aren't all that common in Belgium, if I should expect som problems getting set up with charging and insurance? I realize I would probably be driving around with norwegian plates for a few months, but at some point...
