    Face is getting sunburnt?

While you are 1000% correct, I still prefer the previous advice for the OP to put sunscreen on half their face. It matches the ridiculousness of the original assertion.

    Model S REST API

I would recommend taking a look at one of the existing solutions like TeslaMate. You can either use it to see how they are pulling the data (we have two Teslas and it pulls both of them just fine) or even just use it to pull the data and source it from there. TeslaMate uses a Postgres SQL...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

I bought the adapter when they dropped to $175. It allowed me to because we have a 2022 Model X. Now I want to see what the real cost is for my 2018 Model 3 Performance, because I don't need another adapter but just the car modification. If it's a rip off, I'll do it myself as it appears pretty...

FWD is opened during drive on freeway.

Is this the key fob? LOCK_REQUEST_PASSIVE_BLE_INTERIOR_HANDLE_UNLOCK, 8.0 We did have an experience in our first 2017 Model X where the battery on the key fob started dying and it kept sending a FWDS open command during driving. Only diagnosed it by removing the battery and it stopped. That...

    Possible to self solve?

Just have the police look up the car owner info, get their insurance, and file a claim with them. It will take an hour. I had a “hit and run” caught on Sentry. That’s what I did and the insurance company didn’t debate a thing.

Is it possible to get 250 miles on the interstate with a 2022 M3P?

For all the “Model 3 isn’t good for trips” assertions I sure see a lot of them when I drive on long trips. Definitely a lot more than Corvettes and large diesel trucks.

The license plate wrap company does it. The letter is included when they send the plate to you.

My brand new Model X was rear-ended: Any advice?

Yes, we are using a Tesla authorized repair shop (Brooks Motors in Walnut Creek). It's still being repaired, but I don't expect any lasting problem except for the value of the car due to being in a collision. As for DV claims, yes you must go to the at-fault insurer for that claim and I don't...

My brand new Model X was rear-ended: Any advice?

We had a similar incident happen to our X recently. It's currently in the shop getting repaired, and fortunately no damage under the quarter panel. Everything seemed to be under the bumper and we appear to even avoided the lift gate. Ours will come in a little under $10K, so I'm guessing yours...

Constant high pitch electronic whine, even when parked

I wouldn't worry about it or bother trying to get service to look at it. They can't fix it, and the fix is very likely just going to come through another software update.

MASTER THREAD: Tesla Insurance Services in California

Insurance is both hard and easy. Hard because you have to invest the time to get a solid understanding of each type of insurance but easy that it’s just math in the end.
  16. focher

Constant high pitch electronic whine, even when parked

I have it on our 2022 too after recent software update. I doubt it’s harmful but in a garage it’s very prominent.

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

In my opinion, swapping an EV for an ICE is just socially irresponsible. But I guess constant extreme weather and droughts are worth the better interior.

    Key fob not detected?

One of the two key fobs on our new X did not work. I finally had it where the car would detect it, but only in an exact position on the phone charging pad. Even put a new battery in to make sure that wasn't the cause. Took it in for service and the technicians played with it for awhile, but gave...

    Front License Plate Wrap?

licenseplatewrap.com is the company that can officially do it under the DMV program. I've had one on my 2018 Model 3 for a few years and it works fine. Best idea is to put the decal on PPF, then apply on top of your current PPF. Your PPF installer will probably do it for you. Mine did.
  20. focher

    Front License Plate Wrap?

For sure, in California you need to be in an approved program for a replacement to be legal. No one needs to cite a source because its legality is determined by inclusion, meaning if the DMV hasn’t approved it then it’s not legal. I appreciate your point that registration could act as proof but...

Anyone purchase an ICE after your Model 3?

Never gonna own another ICE. Period. Even my 15 year old daughter will get something akin to a Nissan LeashLeaf. Our 3P and X are a perfect combination.

MASTER THREAD: Tesla Insurance Services in California

You bought a Tesla. You’ve already made a bad financial decision. In fact if you buy anything other than a two year old Corolla that has less than 20k miles and was driven by a heavy smoker so you get a significant discount, you’ve made a bad financial decision. However, most of us bought a car...

My wall charger is acting the same. It was actually even opening when I was plugging in our 3, but now just does nothing. Kinda irritating, but I suspect a software update will come along to fix it.

    2022 Model X - Interior Noise / Rattling / Crackling

Maybe that's just Tesla's version of noise cancellation, and we just can't tell what other noise it's cancelling. But seriously, there's a big difference between an SC being unable to resolve an issue and an SC that completely denies the issue / Tesla's responsibility to fix. I'm sympathetic to...

    Safety Score Impressions

I'm glad to live in a state where Tesla's "safety score" cannot be used to determine insurance rates. Their system is completely arbitrary, and in some cases downright bullshit. Can you park the X in a garage?

Summon is what helps in the tight spot situations. The X used to have - at least I don't think it does this anymore - a feature where you parked in front of the garage, double tapped the drive stalk, and when you exited the car it would park itself by pulling forward into the garage.
