    2021 Holiday Update Version Differences

The Christmas update is mostly awesome, but some weirdness going on with the radio presets - they shuffle every time you make a selection. Weird.

Last car before you ordered your model 3?

Gen 5 Camaro SS. Was a sweet car, absolutely loved it. But the model 3 is faster, and it’s nice to be able to see the ground from the driver’s seat. Also was killing me every time I went to the gas station - like burning wads of cash. Ordered the model 3 and sold the Camaro the next day - never...

    #FixPhantomBraking

I've had the brakes applied quite forcefully at high speeds over nothing at all - it grates on the nerves like nothing else. I'm talking braking like I was standing on the pedal. and with nothing whatsoever in the road. Just frustrating as hell.

    #FixPhantomBraking

I wrote exactly what I meant. None of the toggles available to us eliminate phantom braking - believe me I have tried every configuration.

    #FixPhantomBraking

There is no reason whatsoever to make the forward collision thing *mandatory*, especially when it doesn't work. It's the car that cried wolf - it reacts to an emergency a couple thousand times for every 1 actual emergency. It's a total joke of a system. Get it working, then make it mandatory...

    #FixPhantomBraking

This is utter bullcrap, to the point it makes me wonder if you are a Tesla plant. Driving down a road at 70 MPH with a car behind you, then suddenly slamming the brakes is HUGELY unsafe - like dangerous dangerous. Cruise Control was a solved problem half a century ago - Tesla should not be let...

    Unhappy with phantom braking

Just did my first road trip from Salt Lake to Phoenix and back. The phantom braking has me ready to move on to another vehicle. Cruise control was un-useable on 2 or 4 lane roads due to constant phantom braking. And I mean every 20-30 seconds. Unbelievable that Tesla has not solved this issue...

New M3LR - rattle when closing the front doors with windows down. Typical?

Perhaps I am just being overly detailed but hey, I don’t buy a new car every day. When the windows are down, the front doors have a loud rattle when they are shut. I know most cars have a little bit of that, but this seems very loud. If it’s typical, so be it. anyone else notice this?

What Do YOU Call the Pedal on the Right?

    Yeah, it's the gas pedal.

    Potential future buyer with questions...

I bought mine new about 2 months ago. Can't speak much to anxiety as I don't leave my 50 mile radius, though I'll worried more about running out of gas than I do now about low battery, and am REALLY looking forward to driving right past the gas station when it's 0 degrees and snowing out. But I...

    Radio goes silent

I am also seeing this issue (Car is 5 weeks old). We also did a long term test drive by renting a M3 off of Turo prior to buying, and it had the same issue. A bit annoying, to be sure.

Should I get PPF on my new midnight silver Model 3?

My take: The front of our cars are solid and flat - perfect for good chips! I got the front bumper wrapped before ever taking it on the highway. My last car did not have the wrap, and the bumper looked like crap. The model 3 is even bigger and flatter - basically just flat space where most cars...

You can only pick 3 aftermarket M3 buys. What are they?

PPF front bumper, home charging plug/adapter, homelink As an aside - I see tons of people talking about floor mats - I took delivery of my car last month and it came with floor mats. Am I missing something?

New guy question: does the Model 3 have a trip distance tracker similar to a old Chevy?

Owners manuals are crammed full of legal-ese and rear-end covering. They ceased being easy and accessible decades ago.

New guy question: does the Model 3 have a trip distance tracker similar to a old Chevy?

Got it. Vehicle manuals are very difficult to use, especially when you don't know the name of what you are searching for. I neither thought nor gave the impression that the car didn't have it, I just couldn't find it (and frankly, once I was shown it is one of the least intuitive screens in...

    Snippiness 2.0

I didn't know it what it was called, and google is not, in fact, all knowing when the question is unclear. I guess it is becoming more and more obvious that this forum is not intended to be helpful or kind.

    Snippiness 2.0

The answer I received was very thorough and helpful. Much more so than your comment, to be frank. And no, it would not be quicker to Google it as the question was very unclear. I don't know. It seemed this was a friendly place for help and discussion. Perhaps I misread the purpose of the forum.

New guy question: does the Model 3 have a trip distance tracker similar to a old Chevy?

nearly all ICE cars have a button that tracks "trip" mileage - Trip A, Trip B etc. Do we have that?

    Smart Ring Madness

Don’t always have my phone with me. But you are correct in that the ring is not essential - just nice to have and occasionally a useful timesaver.

    Smart Ring Madness

I got a Cnick ring before I took delivery of the car. I lost my wedding ring a few months ago, and I wanted something that looks nice, and this fits the bill. I have found it very useful to have the key with me at all times.

    10 Day Report: Thoughts

Factory 19's on mine. I am not really complaining about the handling - the ride is significantly smoother than my Camaro with pretty low miles. It is a fair trade off. On the audio question, I spent a lot more time on it and I think part of the issue is the HD radio. Not something I've ever...

    10 Day Report: Thoughts

As I explained earlier, safety *is* why it makes sense to back out. It is many times safer to back out of a parking space than it is to go out front first.
  25. C

    10 Day Report: Thoughts

It is atypical to back in when parking, and the camera's are built to support backing out. Rear camera's provide a panoramic view so it is easy to see not just immediately behind the car, but traffic in either direction. However, view is easily obstructed when pulling out after having backed in...

    10 Day Report: Thoughts

So I got my M3LR about 10 days ago. Here are my thoughts: 1 - The front trunk remains the biggest surprise. I thought it was a novelty, but I use it nearly everyday, for groceries, for leftovers, for gym shoes, etc.. Convenient and effective. 2 - Charging remains easy as expected. I use about...

How much PPF did you get?

I did the front bumper/headlights before ever taking it on the highway. The highway in SLC is sandy as heck. I may reconsider the hood/mirrors at a later date.

Funny story re: red light racing

I have done exactly that. My previous car was an SS Camaro - fast. Not Tesla fast, but plenty fast. I would beg a police officer to give me a ticket for "acceleration" within the speed limit. The judge would laugh him out of the court room. And less *you* think I am some kind of reckless danger...

Funny story re: red light racing

Funny story re: red light racing

You must be a joy at parties! In my area of the country, they do not issue tickets for driving your car within the limit. If you get to the limit quicker than someone else, so be it.

Funny story re: red light racing

This morning on the way into work, I pull up to the red light first in line, and next to me is a GLC AMG 63 V8 Biturbo popping and crackling and loaded for bear. Light turns green and I proceed normally in my new LR3 - and normal for me is a little quick but nothing near full throttle (do we...

    Day 1 impressions

Picked up my Model 3 yesterday morning. Thoughts: 1 - we found a total of zero adjustments needed. Car was in perfect shape. 2 - LR. It is faster than I expected. I am coming from an SS Camaro which was plenty fast, but this thing is insane. 3 - Had the NEMA outlet installed last week in...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Maybe my last post on this thread. Picked up this morning. My wife and I spent 20 minutes going over every inch of the car three or four times. We pointed out every little scratch and nick that we could find. The service folks said no problem, gave it a quick detail, and the car was perfect. No...

Wrap question: Bumper, or bumper and hood?

I take delivery Wednesday, and have scheduled PPF wrap on the front for Friday. I am not made of money. They want $600 for the front bumper, and another $400 to do the hood. Any thoughts, stories, suggestions? I will be driving the interstate most days, and my previous car got chewed up on the...

    14-50 adapter with a 14-30 outlet

Sure did. They said they have done plenty and knew what was what. He just kept saying the 30 was plenty (and probably right). The problem being that I bought a 50 adapter.

    14-50 adapter with a 14-30 outlet
