I wondered the same thing when I was installing. I have heard many conflicting things. Some people say the bump stop is internal and built into the shock. Others say despite this you still need the bump stop. I left mine in place and overall I am happier than a pig in *sugar* over the new ride...
I am ready to buy shocks I just don’t know if I should buy the Koni yellows or the tein endurapro plus. I think koni has a better reputation as a quality product but the tein shocks seem to be very popular so it’s a tough decision
What’s a shame is I think only one person has tried the koni yellows. I wish we had some more testimonials. It seems like the special active red ones are a big disappointment
not to derail the thread, but the original post intrigued me. The car was a 2023 model y, correct? Isn’t that supposed to have the new comfort suspension everyone is raving about? Why switch to the Teins shocks If you already have the new suspension?
This has happened to me before. The cameras see one thing and react to it. And sometimes they call it wrong. All you have to do is override the steering. It doesn’t take that much effort. if it makes you feel any better, I’ve had some of these safeties systems in my other car make mistakes also.
I found them!
Hankook
Ventus S1 evo3 EV (K127E) 255/45R19
Available online at simple tire. I had them delivered and mounted and am very pleased with them
I don't think the Hankooks that Tesla mounts on the European market model Y are available in the US. Has anyone been able to find them in the US market?
the way range is calculated in the i3 is totally different than how tesla does it. The i3 does an estimate based on your driving habits
so if you drive like a bat out of hell its not uncommon to see your range drop by 10-15 miles all of a sudden.
Is this an upgrade over the factory model S lighting? I noticed it's 35w which I think is the same as what the car comes with. I'd really like to get something better than factory OEM lighting
I have a 2013 tesla that has a flickering problem with the left HID. Sometimes it goes out completely and I can get it to come back on if I cycle the power to the lights. Does this mean my bulb is bad or my ballast is toast? Would love to use this as an opportunity to upgrade the lighting. I...
This thread kind of broke my heart
I have been going through a nightmare of perpetually straightening my stock 19" wheels
Unlike the rest of you, I haven't even ever hit any pot hole
I live in sunny Florida
I was hoping I could end this soft wheel nightmare by switching to aftermarket wheels...
Wanted to add a little more to make a point
Yes my screens did leak and make a mess of goo last year. Both failed- the big one in the center and the instrument cluster in front of the driver and I spent almost 2000 bucks fixing both.
But I also have saved over 20,000 in gas and avoided at...
I have a 2013 model s 60 with 117,000 miles. About 11.3% loss on my battery pack
Overall I am very happy with the car. Runs great and even with the range losses it’s still goes far enough for my needs. I think it will easily go another 100,000 miles and then I’ll look into whatever battery...
I just tried the newest version of the ps3 that was developed for Tesla. It’s a similar tread pattern but with foam inside. Similar performance, plus much less road noise. If you live in an area where it doesn’t snow or have a set of snow tires for winter I highly recommend these.
I think there is a lot of bad advice on this thread
A lot of people asking for advice live in Florida and California where they will never see snow. Why on earth would anyone want an all-season tire if they live in florida or cali? All-season is a compromised design for snow.
If you don't...
You can buy the drive units all day long on ebay for not too much coin. I wonder if a deal could be cut where you supply the drive unit and Tesla pays the labor?
Carl Reese, Can you give us an update on how the wheels changed the feel of the car? Better ride? Better handling? Noise? Sharper steering? Did you go with a stock 245/45-19 tire size? Was there a change in Watt Hours per mile?
Be careful with that built in navigation. It just routed me to a dead charger in lake city. Fortunately I was able to roll into a parking garage in Gainesville with a level 2 charger
Runflats generally make the ride of your car terrible and they are several pounds heavier so range will probably take a big hit too. Not sure it's worth the compromise
Many teslas are not properly aligned from the factory. With good alignment I can easily get over 15,000 miles on my tires and I'm an extremely aggressive driver
I actually did talk to Saleen and the brakes are an eye watering 16K because they are bespoke parts, not stuff lifted from another model. They are looking at adapting Corvette ceramic rotors, which should be cheaper
I imagine the parking brake is an engineering hurdle that would difficult to...
2015 EVO Magazine Performance Tyre Test - Tyre Reviews
Found this site and thought it was probably the most comprehensive tire test I have seen
They publish all the rolling resistance scores, info that is vital to tesla owners because we need to be able to get our rated miles
the question is...
I wish in the USA we had access to that kind of information. Here, I have no way of knowing the class of rolling resistance a tire falls in. Does anyone know if an EU website where I can look up these various classes of rolling resistance?
I had both PS2s and the Hankooks on my Corvette. I know what the C&D tests says, but trust me, as someone who bought both tires, the Hankook is not as good and you get what you pay for. The sidewall is like jello compared to the michelin.
I think this thread is important enough to justify bringing it back. I had to do an emergency maneuver on the highway and the brakes really didn't seem to have the bite to slow down such a heavy car. I'm running michelin PS3s, the only high performance low rolling resistance tire available in...
Germans Japanese or even the Italians have nothing to worry about if tesla can't get a handle on their quality control. The model s was a botched roll out and the model x has been a disaster too. I have no clue how tesla is supposed to deliver hundreds of thousands of model 3s when they can't...
In germany the cost of electricity is 40 cents per kilowatt hour. If you really want to know why german companies don't want to develop EVs, that's your answer. For a German customer an EV would be very expensive to purchase and very expensive to operate too.
I love the instant torque, the performance, and the innovation and style of the car and I think those are great reasons for buying a tesla. For me, spending 100K or more on a car for a negligible impact on CO2 emissions is not a good reason.
I'm actually glad they didn't bring up global warming. A lot of tesla owners such as myself think it's a hoax and have other reasons for buying the car. Had they got into global warming, I would have unsubscribed to their youtube channel and never watched again and I'm sure many ther viewers...
That must be one hell of a tune because in the real world my dad's M6 grand sport is was nowhere near as fast. In controlled conditions, in the right mode, with a stop watch it could turn in some great numbers and beat a top of the line tesla. In the real world if an opening appears in...
