    Suspension and Wheels…I’m Lost ('23 M3P)

I meant more in the sense of, how excited would you remain to keep tracking this car? I had a 3P and I find it hard to imagine it’s a fun track car once the novelty wears off.

    Suspension and Wheels…I’m Lost ('23 M3P)

I’d suggest taking the car 100% stock to a track a few times and seeing if you even enjoy it enough to invest in upgrades/mods.

Available OEM 19” Model 3 wheels & tires <2k miles

Lol at “shopping” … numerous people offered my asking price and no one was asked to bid against anyone else. That just proves that as opposed to maximizing my take I let it go for a steal or at the least for an extremely fair price, because I’m moving and time is of the essence. No seller...

Brand new 2022 Model Y LR AWD - must go by 10/14

I have a basically brand new 2022 Model Y LR AWD with sub 500 (five hundred) miles on it. $65,000 firm. I’m offering it here for a slight premium over what I’m being offered by a dealer. I’ve sold a car to them before and I know they won’t play any games with me, but the offers do expire...

Purchasing a new car, MY vs RAV4 Prime

As with anything in life, the answers you get will depend on who you’re asking. Would be worth asking this question on a RAV4 forum as well.

Best car to have in nuclear war scenario

    Selling after 5k NJ rebate

I’m confused as to how a 2021 M3P qualified for the rebate. As of July 2021, the rebate was $5k up to 45k MSRP and $2k up to 55k MSRP, IIRC. Wasn’t a M3P around $59k at that time?

Selling a 2016 Red model S, should i wrap? dechrome? install privacy glass? or all of the above help!

There’s no such thing as a best or worst color. It’s purely personal preference. Like everyone said, sell it as is. You’ll find someone who likes red or they can personalize it themselves. By definition, you can’t anticipate how any unique individual will want to personalize something.

    Charging while washing car

I’d be less worried about water ingress in the car’s port and more about the wall outlet if it’s unprotected.

No home charging option for first year of Model Y

As with many charging-related threads, so many people go off on tangents like volts and amps without answering what the OP is asking. You’ll regret this approach IMO. Spending so much time looking for as well as actually charging will become a quality of life issue. Your significant other will...

Third Party 18" Aero Wheel options

I should add that my wheels are not particularly light at around 28 lb each. For range/efficiency purposes, you’d want to minimize unsprung weight, within reason. For a little bit more in price than mine, you can get down to the 22 lb range. Such as the below. As with most things in life...

Third Party 18" Aero Wheel options

They are MSW brand wheels made by O.Z. Durability was a concern for me so I wanted to stay with a reputable manufacturer. Enkei was another brand I was considering. Bought from Tirerack

Third Party 18" Aero Wheel options

It’s a matter of personal choice what’s cool and what’s not. Tirerack alone has 100+ 18” wheels for the Model 3 LR. I also like the 19” sport wheels which I use for 3 seasons a year. For winter I wanted something a little similar but different enough to not feel like I’m driving the same. I...

No home charging option for first year of Model Y

I had to do exclusively SC charging for a while and would never choose to do it on a permanent basis. It’s such a waste of time driving to/from and waiting. And I never had to wait to plug in. If I did, that extra wasted time 🤬 You mention 10-12 months but based on what? Buying a house and...

Should I buy a Tesla as a first car?

Why would anyone settle for anything less than wholesale value (above MSRP) or replacement value (MSRP)? Besides, the expected value is so small (probability of the event X loss suffered)

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

A typical long-term test by a publication like Edmunds, C&D, etc is 40k miles. So if the test car was a long-term tester it would have something between 0-40,000 miles on it. That’s not much mileage at all in the grand scheme of things. Are you saying that that explains the range “loss”?
  25. M

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

I don’t think Tesla gives out many press cars, if any. It’s not uncommon to see a BEV comparison where the only Tesla they can source at the time is owned by the reviewing organization for a long-term test or by one of their own staff.
  26. M

Should I buy a Tesla as a first car?

Why would a Model 3 bought today be a low equity loan even if you financed 100%? They are valued at trade-in above MSRP. In other words there is no “gap” that exists or needs to be insured against.

Is there a significant difference between leasing and buy-out, versus 6-year financing?

Interesting. What was the process and who was the third party?
  28. M

Is there a significant difference between leasing and buy-out, versus 6-year financing?

Correct. By “it” I meant the buyout price. Financing the buyout and finding the best terms, that’s on the lessee anyway. Of the major captive lessors, I don’t know of any that finance the buyout of their leases.
  29. M

Is there a significant difference between leasing and buy-out, versus 6-year financing?

It’s calculated at the beginning, and should be set in stone on the lease contract.
  30. M

    All Season Performance Tires recommendations?

You go by what the retailer (TR, Costco, etc) says. They are the ones providing coverage, not necessarily the manufacturer.
  31. M

Is there a significant difference between leasing and buy-out, versus 6-year financing?

Correct, interest rates would come into play if you financed the buyout. Also keep in mind that would qualify as a “used car loan” which typically has higher APRs than new car loans. On the Model 3, people here have financed new cars thru credit unions for as low as 1.24% for 60 months IIRC.
  32. M

    All Season Performance Tires recommendations?

Pretty sure every tire bought from Tirerack comes with hazard coverage. Costco too

    Model 3 in Snow/Ice

So… winter tires aren’t on your list but an imaginary magical “snow mode” is? And if thats not available then track mode on an Performance 3?
  37. M

    Model 3 in Snow/Ice

It will be worse, due to the added weight (of extra motors in an EV and a whole lot more stuff in an ICEV).
  38. M

    All Season Performance Tires recommendations?

So they’re basically saying any tire with a 3PMS symbol will be categorized as a GT from their POV (excluding dedicated winter tires obv). It might make sense from their POV. AW isn’t really well-known as a distinct category from AS yet. It benefits them to promote it and gain consumer buy-in.
  39. M

    All Season Performance Tires recommendations?

“Best” means different things to different people. Name some specific tires that you’re referring to.
  40. M

    All Season Performance Tires recommendations?

Grand Touring AS tires aren’t necessarily better than UHP AS in the snow.
  41. M

    Model 3 Winter Tires

Definitely preferable to go smaller diameter wheel and get some more sidewall on your tire. Also a slightly narrower width of wheel and tire will be a benefit in the snow.

How has having an EV change you?

Nonetheless there are a lot fewer moving parts in a BEV.
  43. M

    Model Y Alternatives?

Among BEV that qualify for $7,500 federal tax credit, doesn’t the IONIQ5 make more sense than an ID4?
  44. M

How has having an EV change you?

    1. Going to gas stations, even in a state where they are all operated by employees and I don’t have to do anything beyond pay for the gas, has become such an unappealing exercise. 2. ICEV acceleration and braking comes across as so much more inefficient and wasteful now, since none of the...
  45. M

    Model Y Alternatives?

The maintenance schedule and associated charges for Audi EV maintenance is not cheap. Plus if you’re planning to own long term, definitely go with Toyota. The number of 1st generation Priuses still running around on what was once considered unproven technology is staggering.

    Tesla buying money guilt :-(

  47. M

    Model Y Alternatives?

PHEV are great for people who charge & use mostly electric-only during their daily routines but still want the range and quick fill ups of an ICEV for road trips.

    T-Sportline 20 inch tires

    1. Get the wheels you want. 2. Get the tires you want. They don’t necessarily have to come from the same place. Btw your location is Iowa? Sounds like you’d benefit from running separate sets for summer and winter use rather than AS.
