    Supercharger - Bay Shore, NY

Thanks Ejay for the updated pictures. Unless I’ve developed double vision, it’s going to be a 12 stall station and not the reported 8.

Supercharger - New York JFK, NY

I checked out the site the other day, and I guess the Foreman I had spoken to was correct. The chargers are installed but they need to be hooked up and given final inspection. Nobody was there, although it was early (7am). The area is completely fenced off.

Supercharger - New York JFK, NY

I decided to swing by there today after I dropped somebody off at the airport. There was a lot of construction activity and I spoke to the Foreman. He said that there are going to be 12 V3 chargers and that they should be finished with their work by the end of next week. He said, however, that...

“That area would easily fit 8-10 chargers.”

Supercharger - New York JFK, NY

I was there the other day. That entire area is fenced off, including the parking spots next to the SCs where Black Cars used to park. The cabinets and chargers themselves were disconnected and moved and put next to each other on the asphalt. Not sure what is happening. My first thought was...

    Supercharger - Massapequa, NY

The Supercharger map in the car yesterday showed Massapequa as being open. I did not drive by to confirm.

    Disaster Averted!!

I have found that the WAY you take your foot off of the accelerator often determines how quickly the brake lights will be activated. Particularly when going fast, taking your foot off of the “gas” pedal quickly, generally triggers the lights, not to mention a large amount of regenerative energy...

    Supercharger - Copiague, NY

About a year or so ago, I think it was listed as going to be in Wantagh.

    Supercharger - Copiague, NY

The sounds were coming from the bottom of the chargers. I actually knelt down and put my ear near two of them. I’m familiar with the sounds coming from the white cabinets, and I looked to see how close the cabinets were before I got closer to the chargers themselves to listen.

    Supercharger - Copiague, NY

Wow. My car is an April 2014 build. This is the first time I plugged into a V3 charger. Is it possible that the older cars can’t use them? I wouldn’t think that’s the case. Did you notice the sound of a fan coming from the bottom of the charger? I’ll try it again when I have enough range so that...

    Supercharger - Copiague, NY

Just came from there. None of the chargers worked. The cooling fans on the bottom of the units were all making loud noises. I tried 4 or 5 units. The location finally made it onto the MCU screen and showed 8 available, and operational, units.

    long island owners

I want to reply to your question from a different perspective. Let’s assume that the increased electric bill is solely from the charging of your car. If we say that the average price of regular gasoline, locally, is $2.60, you can buy 48 gallons of gas for $125. Using your wife’s typical...

    Supercharger - Valley Stream, NY

On my way to JFK this morning to pick up a friend, I decided to check VS out. I didn’t need a charge, but I wanted to see what the situation was and if there were any notices on the pumps. There were no notices, or any indications that something might be wrong. There were two Model 3s there...

    Supercharger - Copiague, NY

I’m not sure why my mentioning of JFK and Syosset are bad examples. Bad examples of what? I only mentioned them to Snow Drift because he was looking for potential , future SCs near/in shopping centers. I was merely giving two local examples where they were placed no where near shopping centers...

    Supercharger: Plainview, NY (Long Island)

Does anyone have any ideas about why Plainview has been totally off line so often and Valley Stream has had reduced service for well over a month. This is very difficult for people legitimately traveling from west of the island. They have to make it to Southampton or Islandia to have enough...

    Supercharger - Valley Stream, NY

Did you move to other “banks” of chargers? That happened to me several weeks ago, well before the “Reduced Service” warning was being given. Back then, most pairs of chargers didn’t work, but a few did. I’m not sure what the problem is nor why it is taking so long to correct. This location is a...

    Supercharger - Copiague, NY

SCs are not always around shopping centers, let alone “large” ones. JFK Airport and the superchargers (now dismantled) at the Syosett Service Center are two cases in point. At any rate, when Tesla mentioned Wantagh as a location, several years ago now, I am assuming that they had one or two...

    Supercharger - Copiague, NY

What’s wrong with Wantagh? The purpose of Superchargers is to be close to major highways, to facilitate long distance travel. Copiague will be on Sunrise Highway, near Rte.110. Wantagh could have been on Sunrise Highway between Wantagh Parkway and Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway. In that regard...

    Supercharger: Plainview, NY (Long Island)

I went to charge up today at Plainview. The cones were not blocking the 7th and 8th new chargers, so I backed into the last one. They were not active. I moved to the 4th one, by the transformers, and charged, for a while, at 120 KW. No complaints, except that the last two chargers should still...

    Supercharger - Valley Stream, NY

We had the same problem in Rocky Mt. on June 21st. I moved to two or three different chargersto get enough range to get to Fayetteville (16stalls) 92 miles away. We have avoided Lumberton on the last few trips since there are only 4 stalls. Florence, SC is only 89 miles from Fayetteville and...

    Supercharger - Valley Stream, NY

We returned yesterday from our 4th trip, in four years, to Florida from LI. The nav system’s accuracy regarding how many cars were charging up was by far the worst on this trip. Every stop, but the last two, showed cars already at the location, even as we were approaching. Every time, we were...

    Supercharger - Valley Stream, NY

I don’t expect a person who will not even consider a rational explanation being given to him to even notice the 72/120 power ratings on the SC map. I’m surprised he even thought to try different chargers. I guess he must be used to moving a lot when he “enslaves” himself to another car charging...

    Supercharger - Valley Stream, NY

I charged up at 6:20 this morning. No one else was charging. This Security car passed by several times. The chargers are totally visible from a major access road right behind them and a large parking lot in front of them. I would feel safer here than at many other SCs that are tucked away in...

Did Tesla make a weirdmobile? Comparison 3 BMW 3 dash

For me, as several others have mentioned, the minimalist nature of the dash is not the problem. It's the amateurish look of the 15" screen. It appears to be velcroed to the rest of the dash. When I first saw the reveal of the car last year, I was hoping that the screen looked that way only...

    Software updates again and again

I also have the situation with the radio being off , however, there does not seem to be any set pattern. Sometimes the radio will be on when I enter the car and other times it won't be. It is annoying. I had hoped that some of the minor revisions would have taken care of that, but they haven't

    Supercharging letter from Tesla 8-13-2015

I received the email this morning as well. It actually didn't come as much of a surprise as there has been much discussion recently, on several investment sites, concerning the unexpected financial burden to TESLA of maintaining the SC network. Both the costs to service the chargers and pay for...

Covering a wet car with the Outdoor Car Cover

I am one of the small group of MS owners that does not have a garage. I am strongly considering buying the OCC, but was wondering what happens when you come home after driving in some precipitation and cover a wet car. While I know that the cover "breathes", the inside layer has to get wet...

Charging Options on the Central West Coast of Florida

I want to thank everyone who has responded to this thread, and to the member who has also contacted me privately. We are currently in Florida. We arrived early afternoon on Sunday. The trip down, beginning 5:30 AM on Saturday, was pleasantly uneventful. The weather/EV driving conditions were...

Charging Options on the Central West Coast of Florida

Thanks Linkster! We plan on leaving tomorrow morning at 5am. I plan on plugging in to my in-laws 110v outlet, but I am not sure where it is located. I know that their dryer would be unavailable to the car. I am going to bring a heavy duty extension cord, but I thought that Tesla says to not...

Charging Options on the Central West Coast of Florida

We are planning a 10 day trip to Weeki Wachii, Fl from Long Island. The SC network is well distanced all the way to Port Orange. At that point we plan to cut across the state. My concern is that there are almost no charging options, according to Plugshare in that part of the state (Route 19...

Smart Air Suspension VS Coil over Spring

Thanks for your input. We are coming off of cars very dissimilar to a Porsche. A Honda Accord EX and Grand Caravan EX. We plan on keeping both for the near term. I thought I had read on other threads that Air Suspension, in general, has gotten more and more reliable, in cars, over the...

Smart Air Suspension VS Coil over Spring

I definitely think the 21" wheels contributed to some of the noise because our first test drive was in an 85+ with 21's and it was noisier than a one day test loaner that was an 85 w/19" wheels. Because of the harsh winter we have had here on Long Island, there are a lot of pot holes and rough...

Smart Air Suspension VS Coil over Spring

We have placed our deposit a few days ago and have one more week to finalize the car. I have only driven test cars with the Air Suspension and we love the ride and handling. We are not sure if that is mainly due to the SAS or Model S in general. When I saw the relatively little up and down...
