    Strange Dash symbol

Talked to tech and he found after checking car that the MCU needs replacement. So now have to bring car in for that to be replaced. I’m starting to wonder about this car a 2020 with only 24K miles and so far front drive unit and half shafts replaced and now the computer.

    Strange Dash symbol

Ya Service Center so far has not figured out what symbol is.

Not sure what that crazy symbol is. Lol

    Strange Dash symbol

Had half shafts and front drive unit replaced on my 2020 S LR with 24K miles. First two days home from SC car was fine then the third day had blank screen and this dash symbol. Did scroll wheel reset and that cleared it and got screen back. Next morning same problem cleared again and all good...

    Bad Half Shafts

I had this happen on my 2018 model s and they changed them with their claim that they are upgraded and will hold up. Well no way for me to know because I sold the car 1 year later and they were fine then but didn’t put a lot of miles on it. I purchased my current 2020 model s in December with...

    Bad Half Shafts

Been driving For a few days now and car driving great, but really surprised at drive unit going out at 24K miles.
  9. R

    Bad Half Shafts

Finally got my car back with new drive unit. Seems strange that the drive unit would go out at 24k miles, I thought it was just the half shafts but much bigger problem. According to SC they rarely have to replace the drive unit, sure hope it was just a fluke.

    Bad Half Shafts

I can’t understand Tesla not being able to make halfshafts that last. I purchased a 2018 model S a couple years ago with 32K miles and it needed them changed. The SC replaced them under warranty and said that they were replaced with an upgraded shafts. I only kept the car for a year after the...

Model S Shows Its True Colors (Photos)

This is my last Tesla that was blacked out. It does have the red T and red brakes, my new one is about done the same just need to install spoiler.

Model S Shows Its True Colors (Photos)

Some of these colors are nice looking and unique. But to me a blacked out Model S is the nicest lookin. The first photo is my new car and 2nd photo is my last tesla that I sold. My new one will have the red brakes and rear spoiler soon.

How to get rear wheel to turn while on jacks?

Is there a way to have the rear wheel turn by hand while car is jacked up? I’ve heard that if you put it in neutral the parking brake will still engage. I’m painting my brake calipers and I also paint the hub of the rotors which would be much easier if I could turn the wheel freely.

    Lifetime Average Wh/mi

I just purchased that vehicle used a month ago with 20K mil on it. I test drove quite a few vehicles and every car I checked was in the mid to high 300’s or low 400’s. I would like to see what the lifetime Wh/m is on this vehicle, but not sure how to get that number.
  15. R

    Lifetime Average Wh/mi

Lol. I’m not saying I always drive super aggressive but driving slow most of the time to see how low you can get the Wh/m is boring.
  16. R

    Lifetime Average Wh/mi

Those are really low numbers but it seems strange to have a car with over 500HP but then drive it like it’s a Prius.
  17. R

    Lifetime Average Wh/mi

I just purchased a 2020 MS LR with 20k miles on it. I’m lucky in this cold weather to get 350Wh/m, and a lot of short trips or fast highway miles up in the mid 400’s. My last 2018 MS 75D was the same if not worse. I would have to drive in chill mode like a grandma to get near what many of you...

    Model S Wh/m

Okay so if you look above I show my trips and the numbers are very high. Is this way higher than what I should be getting?
  19. R

    Model S Wh/m

So here is my trips screen. It has been very cold the last couple of weeks so I know that has a big effect but I’m happy when I’m in the low 300’s. Would these Wh/m shown be out of the norm?
  20. R

    Model S Wh/m

I just purchased a 2020 model s long range with 20K miles. It is much faster and of course much longer range than the 2018 75D I did own. I really like the new car but like the last model S I can rarely get a good Wh/m. So many here talk about mid 200 Wh/m and I can rarely get that low. I test...

    WH/mile?

I just purchased a 2020 S LR and so far it seems to be similar to my last car, getting in the mid 300 WH/ m. I have been shopping for a used S for a while now and every car I checked had upper 300 or low 400 WH/m shown. I don’t get how so many here can get WH/m in the mid 200’s.

    Model S Wheels

Thanks I thought that was the case just checking to make sure. I much prefer the 2016 wheels over the newer ones.

"Pull Over Safely - Vehicle Shutting Down" - Car Totally Disabled

I have purchased 3 different Tesla’s used, 1 model 3 and 2 model S vehicles and they have been very dependable and very few repairs. I have never had to have them towed or been stranded. What’s interesting is that almost everyone reporting car shutting down has a vehicle that is either new or in...

2019 model S with Raven motor

Okay thanks for info. Did they continue to use Raven in 2020 model S long range and long range plus?
  26. R

2019 model S with Raven motor

I’ve been looking at some 2019 model S 100D vehicles. If the car has a 273 mile range and adaptive suspension does that mean it has a Raven motor?

Finally installed trunk spoiler. I prefer body color spoiler as opposed to carbon fiber and chrome delete.
  28. R

Rear spoiler added and blacked out

Finally was able to purchase the correct adhesive for installing spoiler, I much prefer adhesive over tape. I also prefer the body color spoiler over carbon fiber. I really like the look of the S blacked out and getting rid of the ugly chrome trim.

My Wh/m after one year of ownership

I’m running 19” Pirelli P zero tires and live in Midwest flat country, but do mash the throttle.

My Wh/m after one year of ownership

Okay I guess I’m okay then. I do drive a lot of short trips in town and it’s been hot so that doesn’t help. Lately I’ve been taking it easy and it has improved but it’s no fun driving that way so I will take your advice and drive it and enjoy. I just thought that the 363 Wh/m was high, my wife...

My Wh/m after one year of ownership

That’s what I’m thinking that it’s still too high. Does this mean my battery is not very good?

My Wh/m after one year of ownership

I have owned this 2018 model S 75D for one year and it seems my Wh/m is high with a 363 for the last 9K miles. I cleared trip B and have been driving slower and trying to get the number down which is better at 308. Is this Wh/m unusually high? In that 9K miles there was at least 3 month’s of...

    WH/mile?

I don’t own a performance model wish I did but I agree even with a standard model I like to drive a little aggressively.
  34. R

    WH/mile?

Lately I’ve been averaging 315 so I guess that’s closer to normal.
  35. R

    WH/mile?

Lately I’ve been averaging 275 also because I’ve been driving slower and using cruise control more. So I guess it’s just my driving habits not the car.
  36. R

    WH/mile?

Thanks for all the replies, I guess that my car uses a high Wh/m especially the way I drive. What’s surprising is that even though my Wh/m is high I still get close to the miles shown every day. The Tesla’s that I have owned on average will get at least 30 less miles than shown to start the day...

    WH/mile?

I do a lot of short trips and it has been hot lately so I guess that is one reason mine is high. But to average 217 is excellent I would be happy to get under 300.
  38. R

    WH/mile?

I have been driving a little slower lately and I’ve been averaging 325 kw/mile. Is that close to normal for a model S?
  39. R

    WH/mile?

Actually she doesn’t drive that slow, on the interstate she usually sets the cruise on 78. She does use the cruise a lot more than I do so that probably helps.
  40. R

    WH/mile?

Maybe I’m just driving too aggressively.
  41. R

    WH/mile?

I have 19” wheels and actually I drive more in town and my wife drives more on the highway.
  42. R

    WH/mile?

My 2018 model S 75D has been averaging 350 Wh/mile, while my wife’s 2018 model 3 averages 175Wh/mile. Is this big difference normal because of the different models?

    Model S suspension problems

I’ve heard about model S having suspension problems but I thought that would be after some years and upper miles. I purchased a 2018 model S 75D in early summer with 32k miles on it. Not long after owning it I noticed a nasty grinding sound when accelerating hard. So brought to SC and they...

    380 WH/MI

My car is garaged but I usually don’t use my heater much in the garage because it’s electric also. Will it help if I turn on cabin heat in the morning while car is still plugged in?
