My newer S

Here are some photos of my S after I added a few things. Had chrome blacked out, windows tinted to 25, red emblem, aftermarket wheels, red brakes and trunk spoiler.

Talked to tech and he found after checking car that the MCU needs replacement. So now have to bring car in for that to be replaced. I’m starting to wonder about this car a 2020 with only 24K miles and so far front drive unit and half shafts replaced and now the computer.

Ya Service Center so far has not figured out what symbol is.

Been driving For a few days now and car driving great, but really surprised at drive unit going out at 24K miles.

Finally got my car back with new drive unit. Seems strange that the drive unit would go out at 24k miles, I thought it was just the half shafts but much bigger problem. According to SC they rarely have to replace the drive unit, sure hope it was just a fluke.

This is my last Tesla that was blacked out. It does have the red T and red brakes, my new one is about done the same just need to install spoiler.

Some of these colors are nice looking and unique. But to me a blacked out Model S is the nicest lookin. The first photo is my new car and 2nd photo is my last tesla that I sold. My new one will have the red brakes and rear spoiler soon.

Is there a way to have the rear wheel turn by hand while car is jacked up? I’ve heard that if you put it in neutral the parking brake will still engage. I’m painting my brake calipers and I also paint the hub of the rotors which would be much easier if I could turn the wheel freely.

I just purchased that vehicle used a month ago with 20K mil on it. I test drove quite a few vehicles and every car I checked was in the mid to high 300’s or low 400’s. I would like to see what the lifetime Wh/m is on this vehicle, but not sure how to get that number.

Lol. I’m not saying I always drive super aggressive but driving slow most of the time to see how low you can get the Wh/m is boring.

Those are really low numbers but it seems strange to have a car with over 500HP but then drive it like it’s a Prius.

I just purchased a 2020 S LR and so far it seems to be similar to my last car, getting in the mid 300 WH/ m. I have been shopping for a used S for a while now and every car I checked had upper 300 or low 400 WH/m shown. I don’t get how so many here can get WH/m in the mid 200’s.

Thanks I thought that was the case just checking to make sure. I much prefer the 2016 wheels over the newer ones.

I’ve been looking at some 2019 model S 100D vehicles. If the car has a 273 mile range and adaptive suspension does that mean it has a Raven motor?

Finally installed trunk spoiler. I prefer body color spoiler as opposed to carbon fiber and chrome delete.

Finally was able to purchase the correct adhesive for installing spoiler, I much prefer adhesive over tape. I also prefer the body color spoiler over carbon fiber. I really like the look of the S blacked out and getting rid of the ugly chrome trim.

I’m running 19” Pirelli P zero tires and live in Midwest flat country, but do mash the throttle.

I don’t own a performance model wish I did but I agree even with a standard model I like to drive a little aggressively.

Lately I’ve been averaging 315 so I guess that’s closer to normal.

Lately I’ve been averaging 275 also because I’ve been driving slower and using cruise control more. So I guess it’s just my driving habits not the car.

Thanks for all the replies, I guess that my car uses a high Wh/m especially the way I drive. What’s surprising is that even though my Wh/m is high I still get close to the miles shown every day. The Tesla’s that I have owned on average will get at least 30 less miles than shown to start the day...

I do a lot of short trips and it has been hot lately so I guess that is one reason mine is high. But to average 217 is excellent I would be happy to get under 300.

I have been driving a little slower lately and I’ve been averaging 325 kw/mile. Is that close to normal for a model S?

Actually she doesn’t drive that slow, on the interstate she usually sets the cruise on 78. She does use the cruise a lot more than I do so that probably helps.

Maybe I’m just driving too aggressively.

I have 19” wheels and actually I drive more in town and my wife drives more on the highway.

My 2018 model S 75D has been averaging 350 Wh/mile, while my wife’s 2018 model 3 averages 175Wh/mile. Is this big difference normal because of the different models?

My car is garaged but I usually don’t use my heater much in the garage because it’s electric also. Will it help if I turn on cabin heat in the morning while car is still plugged in?
